Deuteronomy 27

1 Now Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, "Keep all the commandment which I command you this day.	1 Entouré des anciens d’Israël, Moïse donna ces instructions au peuple: “Observez tous les commandements que je vous donne aujourd’hui.
2 And on the day you pass over the Jordan to the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall set up large stones, and plaster them with plaster;	2 Lorsque tu auras traversé le Jourdain pour entrer au pays que Yahvé ton Dieu te donne, tu dresseras de grandes pierres et tu les enduiras de chaux.
3 and you shall write upon them all the words of this law, when you pass over to enter the land which the LORD your God gives you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you.	3 Tu écriras dessus à ton passage toutes les paroles de cette Loi, pour que tu entres bien au pays que Yahvé ton Dieu te donne, pays où coulent le lait et le miel, comme Yahvé ton Dieu l’a dit à tes pères.
4 And when you have passed over the Jordan, you shall set up these stones, concerning which I command you this day, on Mount Ebal, and you shall plaster them with plaster.	4 Lorsque tu auras traversé le Jourdain, c’est sur le mont Ébal que tu dresseras ces pierres et que tu les enduiras de chaux, comme je vous l’ordonne aujourd’hui.
5 And there you shall build an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones; you shall lift up no iron tool upon them.	5 Là, tu bâtiras un autel à Yahvé, un autel de pierres qu’aucun outil de fer n’a travaillées.
6 You shall build an altar to the LORD your God of unhewn stones; and you shall offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God;	6 Tu bâtiras l’autel de Yahvé ton Dieu en pierres brutes et tu offriras dessus des holocaustes en l’honneur de Yahvé ton Dieu.
7 and you shall sacrifice peace offerings, and shall eat there; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God.	7 Tu offriras des sacrifices de communion, tu mangeras et tu feras la fête en présence de Yahvé ton Dieu.
8 And you shall write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly."	8 Alors tu graveras clairement sur ces pierres toutes les paroles de cette Loi.”
9 And Moses and the Levitical priests said to all Israel, "Keep silence and hear, O Israel: this day you have become the people of the LORD your God.	9 Moïse et les prêtres lévites dirent alors à tout Israël: “Garde le silence et prête l’oreille, Israël! Aujourd’hui tu es devenu le peuple de Yahvé ton Dieu.
10 You shall therefore obey the voice of the LORD your God, keeping his commandments and his statutes, which I command you this day."	10 Tu écouteras donc la voix de Yahvé ton Dieu et tu mettras en pratique ses commandements et ses ordonnances que je te donne aujourd’hui.”
11 And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,	11 Ce jour-là, Moïse donna cet ordre au peuple:
12 "When you have passed over the Jordan, these shall stand upon Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.	12 “Lorsque vous aurez traversé le Jourdain, voici ceux qui se tiendront sur le mont Garizim pour bénir le peuple: Siméon, Lévi, Juda, Issacar, Joseph et Benjamin.
13 And these shall stand upon Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.	13 Et voici ceux qui se tiendront sur le mont Ébal pour prononcer la malédiction: Ruben, Gad, Asher, Zabulon, Dan et Nephtali.
14 And the Levites shall declare to all the men of Israel with a loud voice:	14 Alors les Lévites prendront la parole et proclameront à haute voix devant tous les hommes d’Israël:
15 "'Cursed be the man who makes a graven or molten image, an abomination to the LORD, a thing made by the hands of a craftsman, and sets it up in secret.' And all the people shall answer and say, 'Amen.'	15 Maudit soit celui qui fait une idole ou une statue de bronze, une œuvre d’artisan que Yahvé déteste, et qui la place dans un endroit secret! Tout le peuple répondra: Amen.
16 "'Cursed be he who dishonors his father or his mother.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'	16 Maudit soit celui qui méprise son père ou sa mère! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen.
17 "'Cursed be he who removes his neighbor's landmark.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'	17 Maudit soit celui qui déplace la borne de son prochain! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen.
18 "'Cursed be he who misleads a blind man on the road.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'	18 Maudit soit celui qui égare un aveugle sur le chemin! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen.
19 "'Cursed be he who perverts the justice due to the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'	19 Maudit soit celui qui fausse le jugement envers l’étranger, l’orphelin ou la veuve! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen.
20 "'Cursed be he who lies with his father's wife, because he has uncovered her who is his father's. ' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'	20 Maudit soit celui qui couche avec la femme de son père, et qui découvre ainsi la nudité de son père! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen.
21 "'Cursed be he who lies with any kind of beast.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'	21 Maudit soit celui qui couche avec une bête quelconque! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen.
22 "'Cursed be he who lies with his sister, whether the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'	22 Maudit soit celui qui couche avec sa sœur, fille de son père ou fille de sa mère! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen.
23 "'Cursed be he who lies with his mother-in-law.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'	23 Maudit soit celui qui couche avec sa belle-mère! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen.
24 "'Cursed be he who slays his neighbor in secret.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'	24 Maudit soit celui qui frappe son prochain en cachette! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen.
25 "'Cursed be he who takes a bribe to slay an innocent person.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'	25 Maudit soit celui qui accepte un cadeau pour faire mourir un innocent! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen.
26 "'Cursed be he who does not confirm the words of this law by doing them.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'	26 Maudit soit celui qui n’est pas fidèle aux paroles de cette loi et qui ne les met pas en pratique! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen.
