Deuteronomy 23

1 "He whose testicles are crushed or whose male member is cut off shall not enter the assembly of the LORD.	1 Un uomo non sposerà una moglie di suo padre e non scoprirà il lembo del mantello di suo padre.
2 "No bastard shall enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants shall enter the assembly of the LORD.	2 Chi ha i testicoli contusi e il membro virile mutilato non entrerà nell'adunanza del Signore.
3 "No Ammonite or Moabite shall enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation none belonging to them shall enter the assembly of the LORD for ever;	3 Il bastardo non entrerà nell'adunanza del Signore; neppure alla decima generazione entrerà nell'adunanza del Signore.
4 because they did not meet you with bread and with water on the way, when you came forth out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.	4 L'Ammonita e il Moabita non entreranno nell'adunanza del Signore; neppure alla decima generazione sarà ammesso nell'adunanza del Signore,
5 Nevertheless the LORD your God would not hearken to Balaam; but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loved you.	5 perché non vi sono venuti incontro col pane e con l'acqua sulla via, quando siete usciti dall'Egitto, e perché contro di te ha pagato Balaam, figlio di Beor, da Petor nel paese dei due fiumi, affinché ti maledicesse.
6 You shall not seek their peace or their prosperity all your days for ever.	6 Ma il Signore tuo Dio non ha voluto ascoltare Balaam, e il Signore tuo Dio ha mutato la maledizione in benedizione, perché il Signore tuo Dio ti ama.
7 "You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother; you shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were a sojourner in his land.	7 Non cercherai la loro prosperità né il loro benessere per tutti i giorni della tua vita, mai.
8 The children of the third generation that are born to them may enter the assembly of the LORD.	8 Non avrai in abominio l'Idumeo, perché è tuo fratello. Non avrai in abominio l'Egiziano, perché sei stato forestiero nella sua terra.
9 "When you go forth against your enemies and are in camp, then you shall keep yourself from every evil thing.	9 I figli che nasceranno da loro, alla terza generazione potranno essere ammessi nell'adunanza del Signore.
10 "If there is among you any man who is not clean by reason of what chances to him by night, then he shall go outside the camp, he shall not come within the camp;	10 Quando uscirai in campo contro i tuoi nemici, ti guarderai da ogni cosa cattiva.
11 but when evening comes on, he shall bathe himself in water, and when the sun is down, he may come within the camp.	11 Se c'è presso di te un uomo che non è puro per un accidente notturno, uscirà dall'accampamento e non rientrerà nell'accampamento;
12 "You shall have a place outside the camp and you shall go out to it;	12 ma verso sera si laverà con l'acqua e al tramonto del sole rientrerà nell'accampamento.
13 and you shall have a stick with your weapons; and when you sit down outside, you shall dig a hole with it, and turn back and cover up your excrement.	13 Avrai un luogo fuori dell'accampamento e uscirai là fuori.
14 Because the LORD your God walks in the midst of your camp, to save you and to give up your enemies before you, therefore your camp must be holy, that he may not see anything indecent among you, and turn away from you.	14 Avrai un piolo nel tuo bagaglio e con esso scaverai quando ti accovaccerai fuori, quindi ti volgerai a ricoprire i tuoi escrementi.
15 "You shall not give up to his master a slave who has escaped from his master to you;	15 Poiché il Signore tuo Dio si muove in mezzo al tuo accampamento per proteggerti e per mettere i tuoi nemici in tuo potere, il tuo accampamento sarà santo, ed egli non deve vedere presso di te alcuna indecenza; si allontanerebbe da te.
16 he shall dwell with you, in your midst, in the place which he shall choose within one of your towns, where it pleases him best; you shall not oppress him.	16 Non consegnerai al padrone un servo che, dopo essere fuggito da lui, si sia rifugiato presso di te.
17 "There shall be no cult prostitute of the daughters of Israel, neither shall there be a cult prostitute of the sons of Israel.	17 Abiterà con te, in mezzo ai tuoi, nel luogo che avrà scelto, in una delle tue città dove si troverà bene; non l'opprimerai.
18 You shall not bring the hire of a harlot, or the wages of a dog, into the house of the LORD your God in payment for any vow; for both of these are an abomination to the LORD your God.	18 Non ci sarà prostituta sacra tra le figlie d'Israele e non ci sarà prostituto sacro tra i figli d'Israele.
19 "You shall not lend upon interest to your brother, interest on money, interest on victuals, interest on anything that is lent for interest.	19 Non porterai la mercede di una prostituta o il prezzo di un "cane" alla casa del Signore tuo Dio, per qualsiasi voto, perché sono un abominio per il Signore tuo Dio l'uno e l'altro.
20 To a foreigner you may lend upon interest, but to your brother you shall not lend upon interest; that the LORD your God may bless you in all that you undertake in the land which you are entering to take possession of it.	20 Non esigerai interesse da tuo fratello: interesse per denaro, interesse per viveri, interesse per qualsiasi cosa per cui si può esigere un interesse.
21 "When you make a vow to the LORD your God, you shall not be slack to pay it; for the LORD your God will surely require it of you, and it would be sin in you.	21 Dallo straniero potrai esigere un interesse, ma da tuo fratello non lo esigerai, affinché ti benedica il Signore tuo Dio in ogni impresa delle tue mani, sulla terra che tu vai a conquistare.
22 But if you refrain from vowing, it shall be no sin in you.	22 Quando fai un voto al Signore tuo Dio, non tardare a compierlo; perché di certo il Signore tuo Dio te lo reclamerà e in te ci sarebbe peccato.
23 You shall be careful to perform what has passed your lips, for you have voluntarily vowed to the LORD your God what you have promised with your mouth.	23 Se ti astieni dal fare un voto, in te non c'è peccato.
24 "When you go into your neighbor's vineyard, you may eat your fill of grapes, as many as you wish, but you shall not put any in your vessel.	24 Quanto esce dalle tue labbra mantienilo ed esegui il voto che hai fatto spontaneamente al Signore tuo Dio, come hai pronunciato con la tua bocca.
25 When you go into your neighbor's standing grain, you may pluck the ears with your hand, but you shall not put a sickle to your neighbor's standing grain.	25 Quando entrerai nella vigna del tuo prossimo, mangerai uva secondo il tuo appetito, a sazietà; ma non ne metterai nel tuo paniere.
	26 Quando entrerai nelle messi del tuo prossimo, coglierai spighe con la tua mano, ma non metterai la falce nelle messi del tuo prossimo.
