Deuteronomy 23

1 "He whose testicles are crushed or whose male member is cut off shall not enter the assembly of the LORD.	1 Nissuno sposerà la moglie del proprio padre, e non le farà disonore.
2 "No bastard shall enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants shall enter the assembly of the LORD.	2 L'eunuco, a cui sono state contuse, o tagliate, o strappate le parti, non avrà luogo nella congregazione del Signore.
3 "No Ammonite or Moabite shall enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation none belonging to them shall enter the assembly of the LORD for ever;	3 Il bastardo, vale a dire colui che è nato da una donna di mala vita, non avrà luogo nella congregazione del Signore sino alla decima generazione.
4 because they did not meet you with bread and with water on the way, when you came forth out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.	4 Gli Ammoniti, e i Moabiti non entreranno giammai nella congregazione del Signore, nemmen dopo la decima generazione;
5 Nevertheless the LORD your God would not hearken to Balaam; but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loved you.	5 Perché ei non vollero venirvi incontro con del pane, e dell'acqua nel viaggio, allorché voi uscivate dall'Egitto; e perché con doni corruppero in tuo danno Balaam figliuolo di Beor della Mesopotamia di Siria, affinché ti maledicesse:
6 You shall not seek their peace or their prosperity all your days for ever.	6 E il Signore Dio tuo non volle fare a modo di Balaam, e cangiò la sua maledizione in benedizione, perché ti amava.
7 "You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother; you shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were a sojourner in his land.	7 Tu non farai pace con essi, e non farai loro del bene giammai per tutto il tempo di tua vita.
8 The children of the third generation that are born to them may enter the assembly of the LORD.	8 Non avrai in abbominazione l'Idumeo, perché egli è tuo fratello: né l'Egiziano, perché tu fosti ospite nella sua terra.
9 "When you go forth against your enemies and are in camp, then you shall keep yourself from every evil thing.	9 I discendenti di questi avran luogo nella congregazione del Signore alla terza generazione.
10 "If there is among you any man who is not clean by reason of what chances to him by night, then he shall go outside the camp, he shall not come within the camp;	10 Quando andrai a far guerra a' tuoi nemici, ti guarderai da ogni malvagità.
11 but when evening comes on, he shall bathe himself in water, and when the sun is down, he may come within the camp.	11 Se vi sarà tra voi alcuno, il quale si sia renduto immondo a causa d'un sogno notturno, andrà fuori degli alloggiamenti;
12 "You shall have a place outside the camp and you shall go out to it;	12 E non vi tornerà, se non la sera lavatosi nell'acqua: e rientrerà negli alloggiamenti dopo che sia tramontato il sole.
13 and you shall have a stick with your weapons; and when you sit down outside, you shall dig a hole with it, and turn back and cover up your excrement.	13 Avrai un luogo fuori degli alloggiamenti, dove andrai pe' bisogni naturali,
14 Because the LORD your God walks in the midst of your camp, to save you and to give up your enemies before you, therefore your camp must be holy, that he may not see anything indecent among you, and turn away from you.	14 Portando un bastoncello a cintola: e quando avrai soddisfatto alla necessità, scaverai la terra d'intorno, e ricoprirai la materia, onde ti sei sgravato;
15 "You shall not give up to his master a slave who has escaped from his master to you;	15 Conciossiaché il Signore Dio tuo va camminando in mezzo a' tuoi alloggiamenti per essere tuo liberatore, e darti nelle mani i tuoi nemici: onde fa' tu, che i tuoi alloggiamenti sieno mondi, e nulla vi si vegga d'impuro, affinché egli non ti volga le spalle.
16 he shall dwell with you, in your midst, in the place which he shall choose within one of your towns, where it pleases him best; you shall not oppress him.	16 Non darai nelle mani del padrone il servo, che si è rifuggito presso di te.
17 "There shall be no cult prostitute of the daughters of Israel, neither shall there be a cult prostitute of the sons of Israel.	17 Egli abiterà teco nel luogo, che gli parrà, e avrà requie in una delle tue città: non lo inquietare.
18 You shall not bring the hire of a harlot, or the wages of a dog, into the house of the LORD your God in payment for any vow; for both of these are an abomination to the LORD your God.	18 Non v'avrà tra le figlie d'Israele donna di mala vita, né uomo fornicatore tra' figliuoli d'Israele.
19 "You shall not lend upon interest to your brother, interest on money, interest on victuals, interest on anything that is lent for interest.	19 Non offerirai nella casa del Signore Dio tuo la mercede di prostituzione, né il prezzo di un cane per isciogliere qualunque voto: perocché l’una, e l’altro è cosa abbominevole negli occhi del Signore Dio tuo.
20 To a foreigner you may lend upon interest, but to your brother you shall not lend upon interest; that the LORD your God may bless you in all that you undertake in the land which you are entering to take possession of it.	20 Non impresterai ad usura né denaro, né grano, né qualsiasi altra cosa al tuo fratello:
21 "When you make a vow to the LORD your God, you shall not be slack to pay it; for the LORD your God will surely require it of you, and it would be sin in you.	21 Ma allo straniero. Al tuo fratello poi impresterai senza usura quello che gli bisogna, affinché il Signore Dio tuo ti benedica in tutte le opere tue sulla terra, di cui tu entrerai in possesso.
22 But if you refrain from vowing, it shall be no sin in you.	22 Quando avrai fatto un voto al Signore Dio tuo, non tarderai ad adempirlo: perocché il Signore Dio tuo te ne domanderà conto: e la lentezza ti sarà imputata a peccato.
23 You shall be careful to perform what has passed your lips, for you have voluntarily vowed to the LORD your God what you have promised with your mouth.	23 Non avrai colpa, se non hai voluto promettere.
24 "When you go into your neighbor's vineyard, you may eat your fill of grapes, as many as you wish, but you shall not put any in your vessel.	24 Ma quello che una volta hai pronunziato colla tua bocca, lo manterrai, e lo farai in quel modo, che promettesti al Signore Dio tuo, e dicesti di tua volontà, e di tua bocca.
25 When you go into your neighbor's standing grain, you may pluck the ears with your hand, but you shall not put a sickle to your neighbor's standing grain.	25 Entrando nelle vigne del prossimo tuo mangia dell'uve quanto ti pare: ma non portarne via.
	26 Se entrerai nelle biade del tuo amico, coglierai delle spighe, e le stritolerai colle mani, ma non mieterai colla falce.
