Deuteronomy 23

1 "He whose testicles are crushed or whose male member is cut off shall not enter the assembly of the LORD.	1 - Chi è inabile alla generazione, per schiacciamento o per taglio degli organi relativi, non farà parte della comunità del Signore.
2 "No bastard shall enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants shall enter the assembly of the LORD.	2 Il bastardo nato da meretricio, non entrerà nella comunità del Signore sino alla decima generazione.
3 "No Ammonite or Moabite shall enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation none belonging to them shall enter the assembly of the LORD for ever;	3 L'Ammonita ed il Moabita non entreranno in eterno, nemmeno dopo la decima generazione, nella comunità del Signore;
4 because they did not meet you with bread and with water on the way, when you came forth out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.	4 perchè non vollero venirvi incontro con pane ed acqua, quando eravate in viaggio usciti dall'Egitto; e perchè pagarono ai tuoi danni Balaam figlio di Beor dalla Mesopotamia di Siria affinchè ti maledicesse;
5 Nevertheless the LORD your God would not hearken to Balaam; but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loved you.	5 ma il Signore Dio tuo non volle ascoltare Balaam, e cambiò la sua maledizione in benedizione per te, poichè t'amava.
6 You shall not seek their peace or their prosperity all your days for ever.	6 Non farai pace con loro, nè li favorirai in tutto il tempo della tua vita, in perpetuo.
7 "You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother; you shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were a sojourner in his land.	7 Non considererai come abominevole l'Idumeo, poichè è tuo fratello; nè l'Egiziano, poichè abitasti come forestiero nella sua terra.
8 The children of the third generation that are born to them may enter the assembly of the LORD.	8 I loro discendenti, alla terza generazione, potranno entrare nella comunità del Signore.
9 "When you go forth against your enemies and are in camp, then you shall keep yourself from every evil thing.	9 Quando uscirai in campo contro i tuoi nemici, astienti da ogni cosa cattiva.
10 "If there is among you any man who is not clean by reason of what chances to him by night, then he shall go outside the camp, he shall not come within the camp;	10 Se vi sarà fra voi qualcuno che sia divenuto immondo la notte nel sonno, esca dagli alloggiamenti,
11 but when evening comes on, he shall bathe himself in water, and when the sun is down, he may come within the camp.	11 e non vi ritorni prima d'essersi lavato con acqua, la sera; tramontato il sole, rientrerà nel campo.
12 "You shall have a place outside the camp and you shall go out to it;	12 Avrai fuor degli accampamenti un luogo, al quale andare per le corporali necessità;
13 and you shall have a stick with your weapons; and when you sit down outside, you shall dig a hole with it, and turn back and cover up your excrement.	13 ti porterai alla cintura un piuolo; e quando ti rialzerai, scaverai all'intorno, e ricoprirai con la terra
14 Because the LORD your God walks in the midst of your camp, to save you and to give up your enemies before you, therefore your camp must be holy, that he may not see anything indecent among you, and turn away from you.	14 ciò di che ti sei sgravato. Il Signore Dio tuo dimora in mezzo agli alloggiamenti, per salvarti, e per mettere in tuo potere i tuoi nemici. [Perciò] siano santi i tuoi accampamenti, e nessuna bruttura apparisca in essi, acciò egli non t'abbandoni.
15 "You shall not give up to his master a slave who has escaped from his master to you;	15 Non consegnerai al suo padrone lo schiavo che si sia rifugiato presso di te.
16 he shall dwell with you, in your midst, in the place which he shall choose within one of your towns, where it pleases him best; you shall not oppress him.	16 Abiterà in mezzo a te, dove gli piacerà, e starà in pace in una delle tue città; non lo contristare.
17 "There shall be no cult prostitute of the daughters of Israel, neither shall there be a cult prostitute of the sons of Israel.	17 Non vi sarà meretrice tra le figliuole d'Israele, nè fornicatori tra i figli d'Israele.
18 You shall not bring the hire of a harlot, or the wages of a dog, into the house of the LORD your God in payment for any vow; for both of these are an abomination to the LORD your God.	18 Non darai per offerta alla casa del Signore Dio tuo la paga d'una meretrice, nè il prezzo di un cane, per quanto tu n'abbia fatto voto; perchè sono ambedue in abominazione davanti al Signore Dio tuo.
19 "You shall not lend upon interest to your brother, interest on money, interest on victuals, interest on anything that is lent for interest.	19 Non presterai ad interesse ad un tuo fratello nè danaro nè alimenti nè un'altra cosa;
20 To a foreigner you may lend upon interest, but to your brother you shall not lend upon interest; that the LORD your God may bless you in all that you undertake in the land which you are entering to take possession of it.	20 allo straniero, sì. Al fratello tuo invece presterai senza interesse ciò di cui ha bisogno, acciò il Signore Dio tuo benedica ogni tuo lavoro nella terra della quale sei per entrare in possesso.
21 "When you make a vow to the LORD your God, you shall not be slack to pay it; for the LORD your God will surely require it of you, and it would be sin in you.	21 Quando avrai fatto un voto al Signore Dio tuo, non indugiare ad adempirlo, perchè il Signore Dio tuo te ne chiederà conto, e, se avrai indugiato, ti sarà ascritto a peccato.
22 But if you refrain from vowing, it shall be no sin in you.	22 Se non promettevi, non era peccato;
23 You shall be careful to perform what has passed your lips, for you have voluntarily vowed to the LORD your God what you have promised with your mouth.	23 ma quello che una volta è uscito dalle tue labbra, lo devi mantenere, e fare com'hai promesso al Signore Dio tuo, come di tua volontà e di tua bocca hai detto.
24 "When you go into your neighbor's vineyard, you may eat your fill of grapes, as many as you wish, but you shall not put any in your vessel.	24 Entrato nella vigna del tuo prossimo, potrai mangiare quanta uva ti piacerà, ma non portarne via.
25 When you go into your neighbor's standing grain, you may pluck the ears with your hand, but you shall not put a sickle to your neighbor's standing grain.	25 Entrato fra il grano d'un tuo amico, coglierai le spighe e le schiaccerai fra le dita, ma non le mieterai con la falce.
