Matthew 8

1 When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him;	1 Als Jesus von dem Berg herabstieg, folgten ihm viele Menschen.
2 and behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, if you will, you can make me clean."	2 Da kam ein Aussätziger, fiel vor ihm nieder und sagte: Herr, wenn du willst, kannst du machen, dass ich rein werde.
3 And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, "I will; be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.	3 Jesus streckte die Hand aus, berührte ihn und sagte: Ich will es - werde rein! Im gleichen Augenblick wurde der Aussätzige rein.
4 And Jesus said to him, "See that you say nothing to any one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to the people."	4 Jesus aber sagte zu ihm: Nimm dich in Acht! Erzähl niemand davon, sondern geh, zeig dich dem Priester und bring das Opfer dar, das Mose angeordnet hat. Das soll für sie ein Beweis (deiner Heilung) sein.
5 As he entered Caperna-um, a centurion came forward to him, beseeching him	5 Als er nach Kafarnaum kam, trat ein Hauptmann an ihn heran und bat ihn:
6 and saying, "Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, in terrible distress."	6 Herr, mein Diener liegt gelähmt zu Hause und hat große Schmerzen.
7 And he said to him, "I will come and heal him."	7 Jesus sagte zu ihm: Ich will kommen und ihn gesund machen.
8 But the centurion answered him, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be healed.	8 Da antwortete der Hauptmann: Herr, ich bin es nicht wert, dass du mein Haus betrittst; sprich nur ein Wort, dann wird mein Diener gesund.
9 For I am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes, and to another, 'Come,' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it."	9 Auch ich muss Befehlen gehorchen und ich habe selber Soldaten unter mir; sage ich nun zu einem: Geh!, so geht er, und zu einem andern: Komm!, so kommt er, und zu meinem Diener: Tu das!, so tut er es.
10 When Jesus heard him, he marveled, and said to those who followed him, "Truly, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.	10 Jesus war erstaunt, als er das hörte, und sagte zu denen, die ihm nachfolgten: Amen, das sage ich euch: Einen solchen Glauben habe ich in Israel noch bei niemand gefunden.
11 I tell you, many will come from east and west and sit at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,	11 Ich sage euch: Viele werden von Osten und Westen kommen und mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob im Himmelreich zu Tisch sitzen;
12 while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth."	12 die aber, für die das Reich bestimmt war, werden hinausgeworfen in die äußerste Finsternis; dort werden sie heulen und mit den Zähnen knirschen.
13 And to the centurion Jesus said, "Go; be it done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed at that very moment.	13 Und zum Hauptmann sagte Jesus: Geh! Es soll geschehen, wie du geglaubt hast. Und in derselben Stunde wurde der Diener gesund.
14 And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever;	14 Jesus ging in das Haus des Petrus und sah, dass dessen Schwiegermutter im Bett lag und Fieber hatte.
15 he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and served him.	15 Da berührte er ihre Hand, und das Fieber wich von ihr. Und sie stand auf und sorgte für ihn.
16 That evening they brought to him many who were possessed with demons; and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick.	16 Am Abend brachte man viele Besessene zu ihm. Er trieb mit seinem Wort die Geister aus und heilte alle Kranken.
17 This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, "He took our infirmities and bore our diseases."	17 Dadurch sollte sich erfüllen, was durch den Propheten Jesaja gesagt worden ist: Er hat unsere Leiden auf sich genommen und unsere Krankheiten getragen.
18 Now when Jesus saw great crowds around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side.	18 Als Jesus die vielen Menschen sah, die um ihn waren, befahl er, ans andere Ufer zu fahren.
19 And a scribe came up and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."	19 Da kam ein Schriftgelehrter zu ihm und sagte: Meister, ich will dir folgen, wohin du auch gehst.
20 And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head."	20 Jesus antwortete ihm: Die Füchse haben ihre Höhlen und die Vögel ihre Nester; der Menschensohn aber hat keinen Ort, wo er sein Haupt hinlegen kann.
21 Another of the disciples said to him, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father."	21 Ein anderer aber, einer seiner Jünger, sagte zu ihm: Herr, lass mich zuerst heimgehen und meinen Vater begraben!
22 But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead."	22 Jesus erwiderte: Folge mir nach; lass die Toten ihre Toten begraben!
23 And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him.	23 Er stieg in das Boot, und seine Jünger folgten ihm.
24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep.	24 Plötzlich brach auf dem See ein gewaltiger Sturm los, sodass das Boot von den Wellen überflutet wurde. Jesus aber schlief.
25 And they went and woke him, saying, "Save, Lord; we are perishing."	25 Da traten die Jünger zu ihm und weckten ihn; sie riefen: Herr, rette uns, wir gehen zugrunde!
26 And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O men of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.	26 Er sagte zu ihnen: Warum habt ihr solche Angst, ihr Kleingläubigen? Dann stand er auf, drohte den Winden und dem See und es trat völlige Stille ein.
27 And the men marveled, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?"	27 Die Leute aber staunten und sagten: Was ist das für ein Mensch, dass ihm sogar die Winde und der See gehorchen?
28 And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demoniacs met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way.	28 Als Jesus an das andere Ufer kam, in das Gebiet von Gadara, liefen ihm aus den Grabhöhlen zwei Besessene entgegen. Sie waren so gefährlich, dass niemand den Weg benutzen konnte, der dort vorbeiführte.
29 And behold, they cried out, "What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?"	29 Sofort begannen sie zu schreien: Was haben wir mit dir zu tun, Sohn Gottes? Bist du hergekommen, um uns schon vor der Zeit zu quälen?
30 Now a herd of many swine was feeding at some distance from them.	30 In einiger Entfernung weidete gerade eine große Schweineherde.
31 And the demons begged him, "If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine."	31 Da baten ihn die Dämonen: Wenn du uns austreibst, dann schick uns in die Schweineherde!
32 And he said to them, "Go." So they came out and went into the swine; and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and perished in the waters.	32 Er sagte zu ihnen: Geht! Da verließen sie die beiden und fuhren in die Schweine. Und die ganze Herde stürzte sich den Abhang hinab in den See und kam in den Fluten um.
33 The herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, and what had happened to the demoniacs.	33 Die Hirten flohen, liefen in die Stadt und erzählten dort alles, auch das, was mit den Besessenen geschehen war.
34 And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their neighborhood.	34 Und die ganze Stadt zog zu Jesus hinaus; als sie ihn trafen, baten sie ihn, ihr Gebiet zu verlassen.
