1 "And now, O priests, this command is for you.	1 E ora a voi io fo questo comandamento, o sacerdoti.
2 If you will not listen, if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, says the LORD of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings; indeed I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart.	2 Se voi non vorrete. porre sopra i vostri cuori, che voi diate gloria al mio nome, dice lo Signore delli esèrciti, io metterò in voi povertade, e maladizione alle vostre benedizioni; e maladicerolle, però che voi non ve lo ponesti sopra lo cuore.
3 Behold, I will rebuke your offspring, and spread dung upon your faces, the dung of your offerings, and I will put you out of my presence.	3 Ecco, io vi getterò lo braccio, e spargerò sopra la vostra faccia lo sterco delle vostre solennitadi, e menerà voi seco.
4 So shall you know that I have sent this command to you, that my covenant with Levi may hold, says the LORD of hosts.	4 E saprete ch' io mandai a voi questo comandamento, acciò che lo mio patto fosse con Levi, dice lo Signore delli esèrciti.
5 My covenant with him was a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him, that he might fear; and he feared me, he stood in awe of my name.	5 Lo mio patto fu con lui di vita e di pace; e diedili timore; temette me, e temeva la faccia del mio nome.
6 True instruction was in his mouth, and no wrong was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity.	6 La legge della veritade fue nella sua bocca, e nelle sue labbra non si trovò malvagitade; e andò con meco con pace e con dirittura, e molti rimosse della malvagitade.
7 For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and men should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.	7 Però che le labbra del sacerdote guardano la scienza, e addomandano la legge della sua bocca; però ch' egli è l'angelo dello Signore delli esèrciti.
8 But you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble by your instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the LORD of hosts,	8 Ma voi vi partiste dalla via, e scandalizzaste molti nella legge; e faceste tornare addietro lo patto di Levi, dice lo Signore delli esèrciti.
9 and so I make you despised and abased before all the people, inasmuch as you have not kept my ways but have shown partiality in your instruction."	9 Per la qual cosa io vi feci dispregevoli e umili a tutti li popoli, sì come voi non osservasti le mie vie, e pigliasti faccia nella legge.
10 Have we not all one father? Has not one God created us? Why then are we faithless to one another, profaning the covenant of our fathers?	10 Or non è egli uno padre di tutti noi? Or non creò noi uno Iddio? Adunque per che dispregia ciascuno di noi lo suo fratello, corrompendo lo patto de' nostri padri?
11 Judah has been faithless, and abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the LORD, which he loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.	11 Giuda travalicò, e l' abominazione è fatta in Israel e in Ierusalem; per che Giuda sì ha contaminato la santificazione del Signore il quale egli hae amato, ed ebbe figliuola dello iddio straniero.
12 May the LORD cut off from the tents of Jacob, for the man who does this, any to witness or answer, or to bring an offering to the LORD of hosts!	12 Disfaccia lo Signore l' uomo che abbia fatto questo, lo maestro e lo discepolo, de' tabernacoli di Iacob, e chi offera lo dono allo Signore delli esèrciti.
13 And this again you do. You cover the LORD's altar with tears, with weeping and groaning because he no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favor at your hand.	13 E anche un' altra volta faceste questo; voi coprivate l'altare del Signore di lacrime, di pianto e di lamento, sì che più non ragguardi al sacrificio, e non pigli alcuna cosa di pace della vostra mano.
14 You ask, "Why does he not?" Because the LORD was witness to the covenant between you and the wife of your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.	14 E diceste: quale è la cagione? Per che lo Signore testimonioe tra te e la moglie della tua pubertà, la quale tu dispregiasti; e questa è la parte di te, e moglie del tuo patto.
15 Has not the one God made and sustained for us the spirit of life? And what does he desire? Godly offspring. So take heed to yourselves, and let none be faithless to the wife of his youth.	15 Or non lo fece uno, e lo rimanente si è lo spirito suo? E che addomanda l'uno, se non lo seme di Dio? Adunque guardate lo vostro spirito, e la moglie della tua gioventù non dispregiare.
16 "For I hate divorce, says the LORD the God of Israel, and covering one's garment with violence, says the LORD of hosts. So take heed to yourselves and do not be faithless."	16 Quando tu l' avrai in odio, lasciala, dice lo Signore delli esèrciti; la iniquità coprirà lo suo vestimento, dice lo Signore delli esèrciti; custodite lo vostro spirito, e non vogliate dispregiare.
17 You have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet you say, "How have we wearied him?" By saying, "Every one who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delights in them." Or by asking, "Where is the God of justice?"	17 Voi faceste affaticare ne' vostri sermoni lo Signore, e dicesti: in che lo facciamo affaticare (nelli nostri sermoni lo Signore)? Però che voi dite: chiunque fa male, è buono nel conspetto di Dio, e cotali li piacciono; ovvero per certo, dove è lo Signore del giudicio?
