1 "And now, O priests, this command is for you.	1 Écoutez maintenant cet avertissement, vous les prêtres.
2 If you will not listen, if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, says the LORD of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings; indeed I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart.	2 Si vous n’écoutez pas et ne prenez pas à cœur de rendre gloire à mon Nom - parole de Yahvé Sabaot, j’enverrai contre vous la malédiction, et je maudirai vos bénédictions. Je les ai déjà maudites car vous ne prenez rien à cœur.
3 Behold, I will rebuke your offspring, and spread dung upon your faces, the dung of your offerings, and I will put you out of my presence.	3 Je vais vous reprendre l’épaule et vous jeter à la figure ce que je ramasserai derrière les bêtes que vous m’offrez; et je vous balayerai avec elles.
4 So shall you know that I have sent this command to you, that my covenant with Levi may hold, says the LORD of hosts.	4 Vous saurez alors que c’est moi qui vous ai adressé cet avertissement pour que l’alliance des Lévites subsiste devant moi, parole de Yahvé Sabaot.
5 My covenant with him was a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him, that he might fear; and he feared me, he stood in awe of my name.	5 J’avais fait une alliance avec Lévi, je lui donnais vie et prospérité; il me respectait, il avait la crainte de mon Nom.
6 True instruction was in his mouth, and no wrong was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity.	6 La loi de vérité était dans sa bouche, il n’y avait point de mensonge sur ses lèvres; il marchait devant moi dans la paix et la justice et détournait du mal un grand nombre d’hommes.
7 For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and men should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.	7 Car ce sont les lèvres du prêtre qui gardent la connaissance et l’on attend de sa bouche la doctrine, car il est l’ange de Yahvé Sabaot.
8 But you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble by your instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the LORD of hosts,	8 Mais vous, vous êtes détournés de ce chemin et vous en avez fait trébucher un grand nombre; avec vous l’alliance de Lévi s’est corrompue - parole de Yahvé Sabaot.
9 and so I make you despised and abased before all the people, inasmuch as you have not kept my ways but have shown partiality in your instruction."	9 C’est pourquoi je vous ai livrés au mépris; tout le peuple vous a tourné le dos parce que vous n’avez pas gardé mes voies, parce que dans votre enseignement vous avez agi à la tête du client.
10 Have we not all one father? Has not one God created us? Why then are we faithless to one another, profaning the covenant of our fathers?	10 Nous avons tous un père unique, c’est un seul Dieu qui nous a créés; pourquoi sommes-nous malhonnêtes les uns envers les autres? Pourquoi avons-nous violé l’alliance de nos pères?
11 Judah has been faithless, and abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the LORD, which he loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.	11 Juda s’est comporté en traître, on a fait à Jérusalem des choses honteuses: Juda a profané le Temple si cher à Yahvé; il a épousé la fille d’un dieu étranger.
12 May the LORD cut off from the tents of Jacob, for the man who does this, any to witness or answer, or to bring an offering to the LORD of hosts!	12 L’homme qui fait cela sera maudit; Yahvé l’éliminera des demeures de Jacob et de ceux qui présentent l’offrande à Yahvé Sabaot.
13 And this again you do. You cover the LORD's altar with tears, with weeping and groaning because he no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favor at your hand.	13 Voici une seconde chose que vous faites. Vous pleurez sur l’autel de Yahvé, vous poussez des cris et des lamentations parce que Yahvé refuse de regarder votre offrande et de la recevoir de vos mains.
14 You ask, "Why does he not?" Because the LORD was witness to the covenant between you and the wife of your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.	14 Vous dites: “Pourquoi?” Tout simplement parce que Yahvé te donne tort vis-à-vis de la femme de ta jeunesse; elle était ta compagne, la femme de ton alliance, et tu l’as trompée.
15 Has not the one God made and sustained for us the spirit of life? And what does he desire? Godly offspring. So take heed to yourselves, and let none be faithless to the wife of his youth.	15 Dieu n’a-t-il pas fait un seul être qui a chair et souffle de vie? Et que cherche cet être unique? Une descendance donnée par Dieu. Ne trompe donc pas la femme de ta jeunesse.
16 "For I hate divorce, says the LORD the God of Israel, and covering one's garment with violence, says the LORD of hosts. So take heed to yourselves and do not be faithless."	16 Car je déteste le divorce, dit Yahvé, Dieu d’Israël, et ceux qui affichent tranquillement leur méfait - parole de Yahvé Sabaot. Veille sur ton esprit, et ne commets pas cette trahison.
17 You have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet you say, "How have we wearied him?" By saying, "Every one who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delights in them." Or by asking, "Where is the God of justice?"	17 Yahvé est fatigué de vous entendre. Vous dites: “Quand l’avons-nous fatigué?” Quand vous avez dit: “Yahvé traite bien tous les mauvais, il doit aimer ces gens-là.” Vous dites encore: “Où est la justice de Dieu?”
