Jonah 2

1 Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the belly of the fish,	1 Yahvé envoya un grand poisson pour avaler Jonas, et Jonas resta trois jours et trois nuits dans le ventre du grand poisson.
2 saying, "I called to the LORD, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and thou didst hear my voice.	2 Du fond des boyaux du grand poisson, Jonas adressait cette prière à Yahvé son Dieu:
3 For thou didst cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood was round about me; all thy waves and thy billows passed over me.	3 “Du fond de ma détresse j’ai lancé un appel à Yahvé: il m’a répondu. Du gouffre des morts j’ai crié au secours et tu as entendu ma voix.
4 Then I said, 'I am cast out from thy presence; how shall I again look upon thy holy temple?'	4 Tu m’avais jeté au milieu des mers, seul au milieu du torrent; tes vagues et tes flots déferlaient sur moi.
5 The waters closed in over me, the deep was round about me; weeds were wrapped about my head	5 Je disais: ‘Me voilà chassé loin de toi, plus d’espoir de revoir ton Temple saint!’
6 at the roots of the mountains. I went down to the land whose bars closed upon me for ever; yet thou didst bring up my life from the Pit, O LORD my God.	6 Les eaux me montaient jusqu’au cou, je me perdais dans les eaux de l’abîme, ma tête se prenait dans les algues.
7 When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the LORD; and my prayer came to thee, into thy holy temple.	7 J’étais descendu aux racines des montagnes, au pays dont les verrous pour toujours se ferment; mais tu m’as fait remonter de la fosse, Yahvé mon Dieu.
8 Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their true loyalty.	8 Lorsque mon âme en moi se fondait, je me suis souvenu de Yahvé, ma prière est montée jusqu’à toi, jusqu’à ton saint Temple.
9 But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to thee; what I have vowed I will pay. Deliverance belongs to the LORD!"	9 Ceux qui servent de vaines idoles ont sacrifié leur propre salut.
10 And the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.	10 Mais c’est à toi que vont mes sacrifices, mes chants de louange. mes vœux que j’accomplirai, car Yahvé est celui qui sauve.”
	11 Alors Yahvé parla au grand poisson, et le poisson vomit Jonas sur la terre sèche.
