Hosea 2

1 Say to your brother, "My people," and to your sister, "She has obtained pity."	1 Dite ai vostri fratelli: « Mio popolo » e alla vostra sorella: « Hai ottenuta misericordia ».
2 "Plead with your mother, plead-- for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband--that she put away her harlotry from her face, and her adultery from between her breasts;	2 Giudicate la vostra madre, giudicatela; perchè essa non è più mia moglie, ed io non sono più suo marito. Si tolga dalla sua faccia le sue fornicazioni e di mezzo al suo seno i suoi adulteri,
3 lest I strip her naked and make her as in the day she was born, and make her like a wilderness, and set her like a parched land, and slay her with thirst.	3 chè io non la spogli e non la ignudi, e non la riduca com'era nel giorno della sua nascita, e non la renda come un deserto, non ne faccia una terra inaccessibile, e non la faccia morir di sete.
4 Upon her children also I will have no pity, because they are children of harlotry.	4 Io non avrò compassione dei suoi figli, perchè son figli di fornicazioni,
5 For their mother has played the harlot; she that conceived them has acted shamefully. For she said, 'I will go after my lovers, who give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.'	5 perché la loro madre ha fornicato, colei che li ha concepiti s'è coperta di vergogna, e ha detto: « Io andrò dietro ai miei amanti, che mi danno il mio pane e la mia acqua, la mia lana e il mio lino, il mio olio e la mia bevanda ».
6 Therefore I will hedge up her way with thorns; and I will build a wall against her, so that she cannot find her paths.	6 Per questo, ecco che io chiuderò la tua via con siepe di spine, le metterò intorno un muro, e non troverà più i suoi sentieri,
7 She shall pursue her lovers, but not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them. Then she shall say, 'I will go and return to my first husband, for it was better with me then than now.'	7 andrà dietro i suoi amanti, ma non li raggiungerà, li cercherà e non li troverà; e allora dirà: « Me ne andrò e tornerò dal mio primo marito, perchè allora stavo meglio di ora ».
8 And she did not know that it was I who gave her the grain, the wine, and the oil, and who lavished upon her silver and gold which they used for Baal.	8 Ed essa non ha voluto riconoscere che ero io che le davo il grano, il vino e l'olio, che le moltiplicavo l'argento e l'oro che essi fecero di Baal.
9 Therefore I will take back my grain in its time, and my wine in its season; and I will take away my wool and my flax, which were to cover her nakedness.	9 Per questo, io cambierò, e a suo tempo riprenderò il mio frumento, a suo tempo il mio vino e libererò la mia lana e il mio lino che han coperta la sua vergogna.
10 Now I will uncover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and no one shall rescue her out of my hand.	10 Ed ora manifesterò la sua stoltezza agli occhi dei suoi amanti, e nessun uomo potrà toglierla dalla mia mano.
11 And I will put an end to all her mirth, her feasts, her new moons, her sabbaths, and all her appointed feasts.	11 Ed io farò cessare tutta la sua allegrezza, le sue feste, i suoi novilunii, i suoi sabati, e tutti i suoi tempi di festa.
12 And I will lay waste her vines and her fig trees, of which she said, 'These are my hire, which my lovers have given me.' I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall devour them.	12 Io darò il guasto alle sue vigne e ai suoi fichi, riguardo ai quali essa diceva: « Queste sono le ricompense che mi han date i miei amanti ». Ed io ne farò una foresta e la divoreranno le fiere selvagge.
13 And I will punish her for the feast days of the Baals when she burned incense to them and decked herself with her ring and jewelry, and went after her lovers, and forgot me, says the LORD.	13 E la punirò per i giorni dei Baalim, nei quali bruciava l'incenso, si adornava di orecchini e di collane, e andava dietro ai suoi amanti, dimentica di me — dice il Signore.
14 "Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.	14 Per questo, ecco che io l'attirerò dolcemente, e la condurrò nella solitudine, e parlerò al suo cuore.
15 And there I will give her her vineyards, and make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. And there she shall answer as in the days of her youth, as at the time when she came out of the land of Egypt.	15 E le darò i suoi vignaioli del medesimo luogo, e la valle di Acor per aprire alla speranza, e ivi essa canterà come ai giorni della sua giovinezza e come ai giorni in cui salì dalla terra d'Egitto.
16 "And in that day, says the LORD, you will call me, 'My husband,' and no longer will you call me, 'My Baal.'	16 Ed allora, in quel giorno — dice il Signore — essa mi chiamerà suo marito e non mi chiamerà più suo Baal.
17 For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they shall be mentioned by name no more.	17 E toglierò dalla sua bocca i nomi di Baalim, ed essa non ricorderà più il loro nome.
18 And I will make for you a covenant on that day with the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the creeping things of the ground; and I will abolish the bow, the sword, and war from the land; and I will make you lie down in safety.	18 E in quel giorno farò con essi alleanza, e colle bestie della campagna e cogli uccelli del cielo e coi rettili della terra, e farò sparir dal paese l'arco, la spada e la guerra, e li farò dormire con sicurezza.
19 And I will betroth you to me for ever; I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love, and in mercy.	19 E ti farò mia sposa in eterno, e ti farò mia sposa nella giustizia e nel giudizio, nella misericordia e nella tenerezza.
20 I will betroth you to me in faithfulness; and you shall know the LORD.	20 E ti farò mia sposa nella fede, e tu saprai che io sono il Signore.
21 "And in that day, says the LORD, I will answer the heavens and they shall answer the earth;	21 E allora, in quel giorno, lo esaudirò — dice il Signore — esaudirò i cieli, ed essi esaudiranno la terra,
22 and the earth shall answer the grain, the wine, and the oil, and they shall answer Jezreel;	22 e la terra esaudirà il frumento, il vino e l'olio, e questi esaudiranno Iezrael.
23 and I will sow him for myself in the land. And I will have pity on Not pitied, and I will say to Not my people, 'You are my people'; and he shall say 'Thou art my God.'"	23 E la seminerò per me sulla terra, ed avrò compassione di colei che fu (chiamata) senza misericordia,
	24 e dirò a quello (che era) non mio popolo: « Tu sei il mio popolo » ed egli dirà: « Tu sei il mio Dio ».
