Ezekiel 21

1 The word of the LORD came to me:	1 E il Signore mi parlò e disse:
2 "Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem and preach against the sanctuaries; prophesy against the land of Israel	2 « Figlio dell'uomo, volgi la tua faccia verso Gerusalemme, fa cader le tue parole verso i luoghi santi, e profetizza contro la terra d'Israele.
3 and say to the land of Israel, Thus says the LORD: Behold, I am against you, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from you both righteous and wicked.	3 E dirai alla terra d'Israele: Così parla il Signore Dio: Ecco io vengo a te, e, tratta dal fodero la spada, ucciderò in te il giusto e l'empio.
4 Because I will cut off from you both righteous and wicked, therefore my sword shall go out of its sheath against all flesh from south to north;	4 E siccome ho ucciso in te il giusto e l'empio, per questo uscirà dal fodero la mia spada contro ogni mortale, dal mezzodì al settentrione.
5 and all flesh shall know that I the LORD have drawn my sword out of its sheath; it shall not be sheathed again.	5 E così ogni mortale saprà che io, il Signore, ho tratto dal fodero la spada irrevocabilmente.
6 Sigh therefore, son of man; sigh with breaking heart and bitter grief before their eyes.	6 E tu, o figlio dell'uomo, gemi fino a rompere i tuoi fianchi, e nell'amarezza gemi davanti a essi.
7 And when they say to you, 'Why do you sigh?' you shall say, 'Because of the tidings. When it comes, every heart will melt and all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it comes and it will be fulfilled," says the Lord GOD.	7 E quando ti diranno: « Perchè gemi? » dirai: « Per una notizia, che viene: ogni cuore si consumerà, ogni mano verrà meno, ogni spirito diventerà fiacco, e tutte le ginocchia si stempreranno in acqua. Ecco viene, e avverrà — dice il Signore Dio ».
8 And the word of the LORD came to me:	8 E il Signore mi parlò e mi disse:
9 "Son of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the Lord, Say: A sword, a sword is sharpened and also polished,	9 « Figlio dell'uomo, profetizza, e dirai: così parla il Signore Dio. Di': La spada, la spada è tagliente ed affilata,
10 sharpened for slaughter, polished to flash like lightning! Or do we make mirth? You have despised the rod, my son, with everything of wood.	10 è tagliente per tagliare le vittime, per brillare è affilata. O tu che abbatti lo scettro del mio figlio, tu hai tagliata ogni pianta.
11 So the sword is given to be polished, that it may be handled; it is sharpened and polished to be given into the hand of the slayer.	11 Ed io l'ho data ad affilare, perchè sia tenuta in mano: è una spada tagliente, è affilata, perchè sia in mano dello sterminatore.
12 Cry and wail, son of man, for it is against my people; it is against all the princes of Israel; they are delivered over to the sword with my people. Smite therefore upon your thigh.	12 Grida, urla, figlio dell'uomo, perchè questa (spada) è fatta contro il mio popolo, contro tutti i capi d'Israele che son fuggiti: son passati a fìl di spada col mio popolo; per questo battiti la coscia;
13 For it will not be a testing--what could it do if you despise the rod?" says the Lord GOD.	13 e la (spada) è provata, e lo scettro, abbattuto che sia, non esisterà più — dice il Signore Dio.
14 "Prophesy therefore, son of man; clap your hands and let the sword come down twice, yea thrice, the sword for those to be slain; it is the sword for the great slaughter, which encompasses them,	14 Tu dunque, o figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e batti mano contro mano: si raddoppierà, si triplicherà la spada sterminatrice; è la spada della grande strage che li renderà pieni di stupore,
15 that their hearts may melt, and many fall at all their gates. I have given the glittering sword; ah! it is made like lightning, it is polished for slaughter.	15 e farà consumare i cuori e moltiplicherà le rovine: ho messo a tutte le loro porte il terror della spada tagliente, affilata da brillare, pronta alla strage.
16 Cut sharply to right and left where your edge is directed.	16 Affilati, va a destra o a sinistra, dovunque ti piaccia rivolgerti.
17 I also will clap my hands, and I will satisfy my fury; I the LORD have spoken."	17 Che anch'io batterò le mani e sfogherò tutto il mio sdegno. Io, il Signore, ho parlato ».
18 The word of the LORD came to me again:	18 E il Signore mi parlò e mi disse:
19 "Son of man, mark two ways for the sword of the king of Babylon to come; both of them shall come forth from the same land. And make a signpost, make it at the head of the way to a city;	19 « E tu, figlio dell'uomo, figurati due strade per cui possa venire la spada del re di Babilonia: tutte e due partiranno da un sol luogo: colla mano tirerà la sorte, al capo della via deciderà della città.
20 mark a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the Ammonites and to Judah and to Jerusalem the fortified.	20 Tu figurerai la strada in modo che la spada possa andare a Rabbat dei figli di Aminoli, e a Giuda, alla fortificatissima Gerusalemme.
21 For the king of Babylon stands at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination; he shakes the arrows, he consults the teraphim, he looks at the liver.	21 Infatti il re, di Babilonia s'è fermato al bivio, al capo delle due strade, a cercare i presagi, mescolando le frecce, consultando gli idoli, consultando le viscere.
22 Into his right hand comes the lot for Jerusalem, to open the mouth with a cry, to lift up the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, to cast up mounds, to build siege towers.	22 Il presagio è avvenuto a destra, sopra Gerusalemme, perchè vi ponga gli arieti, apra la bocca per (ordinare) la strage, alzi la voce nel grido (di guerra), diriga gli arieti contro le porte, alzi i terrapieni e costruisca fortificazioni.
23 But to them it will seem like a false divination; they have sworn solemn oaths; but he brings their guilt to remembrance, that they may be captured.	23 Ai loro occhi sarà come una vana consultazione di oracolo, una imitazione dell'ozio del sabato, ma egli si ricorderà dell'iniquità per prendere.
24 "Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have made your guilt to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear--because you have come to remembrance, you shall be taken in them.	24 Per questo, così parla il Signore Dio: Siccome voi vi siete ricordati della vostra iniquità per rendere pubbliche le vostre prevaricazioni, e apparvero i vostri peccati in tutti i vostri disegni, siccome per questo, dico, ve ne siete ricordati, voi sarete presi.
25 And you, O unhallowed wicked one, prince of Israel, whose day has come, the time of your final punishment,	25 E a te, o profano ed empio capo d'Israele, di cui è venuto il giorno stabilito nel tempo dell'iniquità,
26 thus says the Lord GOD: Remove the turban, and take off the crown; things shall not remain as they are; exalt that which is low, and abase that which is high.	26 queste cose dice il Signore Dio: « Deponi il diadema, togliti la corona, non è questa che sollevò gli umili e umiliò i grandi?
27 A ruin, ruin, ruin I will make it; there shall not be even a trace of it until he comes whose right it is; and to him I will give it.	27 Per l'iniquità, per l'iniquità, per l'iniquità la getterò per terra, e non sarà più, finché non verrà colui al quale appartiene giudicare, e a lui la darò.
28 "And you, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; say, A sword, a sword is drawn for the slaughter, it is polished to glitter and to flash like lightning--	28 E tu, figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e di': Così parla il Signore Dio contro i figli di Ammon e riguardo ai loro insulti; e dirai: Spada, spada, esci dal fodero a uccidere, affilati per ammazzare e risplendere;
29 while they see for you false visions, while they divine lies for you--to be laid on the necks of the unhallowed wicked, whose day has come, the time of their final punishment.	29 mentre si hanno riguardo a te false visioni e presagi menzogneri, tu piomba sul collo degli empi feriti, dei quali è venuto il giorno stabilitone! tempo dell'iniquità.
30 Return it to its sheath. In the place where you were created, in the land of your origin, I will judge you.	30 Rientra nel tuo fodero, nel luogo dove sei stata creata, nella terra ove sei nata io farò giustizia di te.
31 And I will pour out my indignation upon you; I will blow upon you with the fire of my wrath; and I will deliver you into the hands of brutal men, skilful to destroy.	31 E spanderò sopra, di te il mio sdegno, contro di te soffierò nel fuoco del mio furore, e ti abbandonerò nelle mani d'uomini insensati e di fabbricatori di rovine.
32 You shall be fuel for the fire; your blood shall be in the midst of the land; you shall be no more remembered; for I the LORD have spoken."	32 Tu sarai preda del fuoco, il tuo sangue sarà in mezzo della terra, sarai dimenticata, perchè io, il Signore, ho parlato ».
