Ezekiel 21

1 The word of the LORD came to me:	1 Il Signore parlommi, e disse:
2 "Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem and preach against the sanctuaries; prophesy against the land of Israel	2 Figljuolo dell'uomo, volgi la tua faccia verso Gerusalemme, e parla a' santuarj, e profetizza contro la terra d'Israele;
3 and say to the land of Israel, Thus says the LORD: Behold, I am against you, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from you both righteous and wicked.	3 E dirai alla terra d'Israele: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Ecco, che io vengo a te, ed io trarrò la mia spada dal suo fodero, e ucciderò in te il giusto, e l'empio.
4 Because I will cut off from you both righteous and wicked, therefore my sword shall go out of its sheath against all flesh from south to north;	4 E perchè io ho ucciso in te il giusto, e l'empio, per questo trarrò la mia spada dal suo fodero contro tutti gli uomini da mezzodì a settentrione,
5 and all flesh shall know that I the LORD have drawn my sword out of its sheath; it shall not be sheathed again.	5 Affinchè tutti sappiano, che io il Signore ho tratta dal suo fodero la spada mia, né la rinfodererò.
6 Sigh therefore, son of man; sigh with breaking heart and bitter grief before their eyes.	6 Ma tu, figliuolo dell'uomo, trai dal rotto fianco sospiri, e nell'amarezza del cuore, gemi dinanzi a costoro.
7 And when they say to you, 'Why do you sigh?' you shall say, 'Because of the tidings. When it comes, every heart will melt and all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it comes and it will be fulfilled," says the Lord GOD.	7 E quando a te diranno: Per qual motivo sospiri tu? dirai: Per quel, che ho udito; perchè (colui) viene, e ogni cuore verrà meno, e tutte le braccia saranno spossate, e ogni spirito sarà fiacco, e tutte le ginocchia saran bagnate di sudore: ecco, che viene, e la cosa avverrà, dice il Signore Dio.
8 And the word of the LORD came to me:	8 E il Signore parlommi, dicendo:
9 "Son of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the Lord, Say: A sword, a sword is sharpened and also polished,	9 Profetizza, o figliuolo dell'uomo, e dirai: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Parla: La spada, la spada è tagliente, ed arruotata;
10 sharpened for slaughter, polished to flash like lightning! Or do we make mirth? You have despised the rod, my son, with everything of wood.	10 Ella è tagliente per uccider le vittime, è arruotata, affinchè riluca: tu (spada), che abbatti lo scettro del mio figliuolo, tu troncherai ogni pianta.
11 So the sword is given to be polished, that it may be handled; it is sharpened and polished to be given into the hand of the slayer.	11 Ed io la ho data ad affilare, perchè sia alla mano: questa spada è tagliente, questa è affilata, affinchè sia in mano dell'uccisore.
12 Cry and wail, son of man, for it is against my people; it is against all the princes of Israel; they are delivered over to the sword with my people. Smite therefore upon your thigh.	12 Grida, ed urla, o figliuolo dell'uomo, perchè questa (spada) è fatta pel popol mio, questa per tutti i duci d'Israele, che eran fuggiti: sono stati messi a fil di spada col popol mio, per questo percuoti tu il fianco;
13 For it will not be a testing--what could it do if you despise the rod?" says the Lord GOD.	13 Perocché questa è (spada) provata, provata allor quando ha rovesciato lo scettro di Giuda, che più non sarà, dice il Signore Dio.
14 "Prophesy therefore, son of man; clap your hands and let the sword come down twice, yea thrice, the sword for those to be slain; it is the sword for the great slaughter, which encompasses them,	14 Tu adunque, figliuolo dell'uomo, profetizza, e batti mano con mano, e si raddoppi, e si triplichi la spada omicida: questa è la spada del gran macello, che stupidi li renderà,
15 that their hearts may melt, and many fall at all their gates. I have given the glittering sword; ah! it is made like lightning, it is polished for slaughter.	15 E farà venir meno il cuore, e moltiplicherà lo scempio. A tutte le loro porte ho portato il terrore della spada tagliente, e arruotata, affinchè risplenda, e sia pronta a fare strage.
16 Cut sharply to right and left where your edge is directed.	16 Aguzzati, o spada, va a destra; ed a sinistra, dovunque a te piaccia di volgerti.
17 I also will clap my hands, and I will satisfy my fury; I the LORD have spoken."	17 Anzi io pure applaudirò battendo palma a palma, e sfogherò il mio sdegno; io il Signore ho parlato.
18 The word of the LORD came to me again:	18 E il Signore parlommi, e disse:
19 "Son of man, mark two ways for the sword of the king of Babylon to come; both of them shall come forth from the same land. And make a signpost, make it at the head of the way to a city;	19 E tu, figliuolo dell'uomo, figurati due strade, per cui venir possa la spada del re di Babilonia: tutte due partiranno da un luogo, ed egli al capo della (doppia) strada colla mano tirerà a sorte una città.
20 mark a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the Ammonites and to Judah and to Jerusalem the fortified.	20 Tu figurerai una strada, per cui la spada arrivi a Rabbatti dei figliuoli degli Ammoniti, e un'altra per arrivare a Giuda, alla fortissima Gerusalemme;
21 For the king of Babylon stands at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination; he shakes the arrows, he consults the teraphim, he looks at the liver.	21 Imperocché si è fermato al bivio il re di Babilonia, alla testata delle due strade, cercando d'indovinare col rimescolar le frecce: interrogherà gì idoli, fconsulterà le interiora degli animali.
22 Into his right hand comes the lot for Jerusalem, to open the mouth with a cry, to lift up the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, to cast up mounds, to build siege towers.	22 L'indovinamento lo mena a destra contro Gerusalemme, affinchè egli la abbatta cogli arieti, affinchè annunzi uccisione, affinchè alzi la voce con urli, affinchè gli arieti dirizzi contro le porte, e alzi terra, e fabbrichi de' fortini.
23 But to them it will seem like a false divination; they have sworn solemn oaths; but he brings their guilt to remembrance, that they may be captured.	23 E negli occhi loro parrà come se quegli indarno consultato avesse l'oracolo, e come se fosse per imitare l'ozio dei sabbati: ma egli si ricorderà dell'ingiustizia per prendere (la città.)
24 "Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have made your guilt to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear--because you have come to remembrance, you shall be taken in them.	24 Per questo così dice il Signore Dio: Perchè voi vi siete vantati della vostra iniquità, e avete rendute pubbliche le vostre prevaricazioni, e i peccati vostri si son fatti palesi in tutti i vostri disegni: perchè, dico, vi siete vantati, voi verrete in potere altrui.
25 And you, O unhallowed wicked one, prince of Israel, whose day has come, the time of your final punishment,	25 Ma tu, profano, empio principe d'Israele, per cui è venuto il dì preordinato al gastigo di tua iniquità:
26 thus says the Lord GOD: Remove the turban, and take off the crown; things shall not remain as they are; exalt that which is low, and abase that which is high.	26 Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: e deponi il diadema, levati la corona: ma non è ella questa, che sollevò l'abbietto, ed umiliò il grande?
27 A ruin, ruin, ruin I will make it; there shall not be even a trace of it until he comes whose right it is; and to him I will give it.	27 Io farò manifesta l'iniquità, l'iniquità, l'iniquità di lei; e questo non sarà sino a tanto, che venga colui, a cui si appartiene di far giudizio, e a lui io la darò.
28 "And you, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; say, A sword, a sword is drawn for the slaughter, it is polished to glitter and to flash like lightning--	28 Or tu, figliuolo dell'uomo, profetizza, e dirai: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio ai figliuoli di Ammon, e riguardo ai loro insulti. E tu dirai, Spada, spada, sfoderati per uccidere, affilati per uccidere, e folgoreggiare
29 while they see for you false visions, while they divine lies for you--to be laid on the necks of the unhallowed wicked, whose day has come, the time of their final punishment.	29 (Nel tempo, che a te, o Ammon, sono annunziate visioni vane, e bugiardi indovinamene), affinchè tu sii adoprata, e porti ferite sopra i colli degli empi, de' quali è venuto il dì preordinato al gastigo di loro iniquità.
30 Return it to its sheath. In the place where you were created, in the land of your origin, I will judge you.	30 Rientra nel tuo fodero. Colà dove tu fosti fatta, nella terra dove nascesti, io farò giudizio di te,
31 And I will pour out my indignation upon you; I will blow upon you with the fire of my wrath; and I will deliver you into the hands of brutal men, skilful to destroy.	31 E spanderò sopra di te la mia indignazione; accenderò contro di te il fuoco del furor mio, e ti darò in potere di uomini barbari, amanti di strage.
32 You shall be fuel for the fire; your blood shall be in the midst of the land; you shall be no more remembered; for I the LORD have spoken."	32 Tu sarai cibo del fuoco, il tuo sangue sarà negletto in mezzo alla terra, e tu sarai posto in dimenticanza; perch'io il Signore ho parlato.
