1 How lonely sits the city that was full of people! How like a widow has she become, she that was great among the nations! She that was a princess among the cities has become a vassal.	1 (Álef) ¡Qué solitaria se encuentra | la ciudad populosa! | Como una viuda ha quedado | la primera de las naciones. | La princesa de las provincias, | sometida a tributo.
2 She weeps bitterly in the night, tears on her cheeks; among all her lovers she has none to comfort her; all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they have become her enemies.	2 (Bet) Pasa la noche llorando: | las lágrimas riegan sus mejillas; | ninguno de sus amantes | le ofrece consuelo; | todos sus amigos la han traicionado, | se han vuelto sus enemigos.
3 Judah has gone into exile because of affliction and hard servitude; she dwells now among the nations, but finds no resting place; her pursuers have all overtaken her in the midst of her distress.	3 (Guímel) Judá marcha al destierro, | humillada y esclavizada; | habita entre gentiles, | no encuentra descanso; | sus perseguidores la han dado caza | y se encuentra angustiada.
4 The roads to Zion mourn, for none come to the appointed feasts; all her gates are desolate, her priests groan; her maidens have been dragged away, and she herself suffers bitterly.	4 (Dálet) Los caminos de Sión están de luto, | nadie acude a las fiestas; | sus puertas están desoladas, | sus sacerdotes, llorando; | sus doncellas están apenadas, | y ella misma llena de amargura.
5 Her foes have become the head, her enemies prosper, because the LORD has made her suffer for the multitude of her transgressions; her children have gone away, captives before the foe.	5 (He) Sus enemigos están al frente, | sus adversarios prosperan, | pues el Señor la ha afligido | por sus muchos delitos; | sus niños marchan al cautiverio | delante del enemigo.
6 From the daughter of Zion has departed all her majesty. Her princes have become like harts that find no pasture; they fled without strength before the pursuer.	6 (Vau) La hija de Sión ha perdido | toda su hermosura; | sus príncipes, como ciervos | que no encuentran pasto, | se derrumban desfallecidos | ante el perseguidor.
7 Jerusalem remembers in the days of her affliction and bitterness all the precious things that were hers from days of old. When her people fell into the hand of the foe, and there was none to help her, the foe gloated over her, mocking at her downfall.	7 (Zain) Jerusalén recuerda sus días tristes | de vida errante, | añorando los tesoros | que había reunido desde antiguo, | cuando su pueblo caía en manos enemigas | y nadie la socorría; | la miran los enemigos | y se ríen de su destrucción.
8 Jerusalem sinned grievously, therefore she became filthy; all who honored her despise her, for they have seen her nakedness; yea, she herself groans, and turns her face away.	8 (Jet) Gravemente pecó Jerusalén, | se ha convertido en sarcasmo; | al verla desnuda, | la desprecian cuantos la honraban; | y ella, entre sollozos, | se vuelve de espaldas.
9 Her uncleanness was in her skirts; she took no thought of her doom; therefore her fall is terrible, she has no comforter. "O LORD, behold my affliction, for the enemy has triumphed!"	9 (Tet) Lleva su impureza en los vestidos, | no imaginó este final. | Asombrosa ha sido su caída, | no hay quien la consuele. | «¡Mira, Señor, mi aflicción, | cómo se crece el enemigo!».
10 The enemy has stretched out his hands over all her precious things; yea, she has seen the nations invade her sanctuary, those whom thou didst forbid to enter thy congregation.	10 (Yod) El enemigo se ha apropiado | de todos sus tesoros; | ella ha visto entrar en su santuario | a los gentiles, | a quienes habías prohibido | entrar en tu asamblea.
11 All her people groan as they search for bread; they trade their treasures for food to revive their strength. "Look, O LORD, and behold, for I am despised."	11 (Kaf) Todo su pueblo, entre sollozos, | anda buscando pan; | ofrece sus tesoros para comer | y recobrar las fuerzas. | «¡Mira, Señor, contempla | qué envilecida estoy!
12 "Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by? Look and see if there is any sorrow like my sorrow which was brought upon me, which the LORD inflicted on the day of his fierce anger.	12 (Lámed) Vosotros, los que pasáis por el camino, | mirad y ved | si hay dolor como el dolor | que me atormenta, | con el que el Señor me afligió | el día de su ardiente ira.
13 "From on high he sent fire; into my bones he made it descend; he spread a net for my feet; he turned me back; he has left me stunned, faint all the day long.	13 (Mem) Desde lo alto ha enviado fuego | y lo ha metido en mis huesos; | ha tendido una red a mis pasos | y me ha tirado de espaldas; | me ha dejado desolada, | desfallecida todo el día.
14 "My transgressions were bound into a yoke; by his hand they were fastened together; they were set upon my neck; he caused my strength to fail; the Lord gave me into the hands of those whom I cannot withstand.	14 (Nun) Ató el yugo de mis delitos, | entretejidos por su mano; | lo puso sobre mi cuello, | doblegó mis fuerzas; | me abandonó el Señor en unas manos | que me impiden levantarme.
15 "The LORD flouted all my mighty men in the midst of me; he summoned an assembly against me to crush my young men; the Lord has trodden as in a wine press the virgin daughter of Judah.	15 (Sámek) Ha rechazado el Señor, en medio de mí, | a todos mis valientes; | convocó contra mí una asamblea | para aniquilar a mis guerreros; | pisó el Señor en el lagar a la doncella, | la hija de Judá.
16 "For these things I weep; my eyes flow with tears; for a comforter is far from me, one to revive my courage; my children are desolate, for the enemy has prevailed."	16 (Ayin) Por eso lloro, | mis ojos se deshacen en lágrimas; | porque está lejos quien me consuele, | quien me reanime; | mis hijos están desolados, | pues fue más fuerte el enemigo».
17 Zion stretches out her hands, but there is none to comfort her; the LORD has commanded against Jacob that his neighbors should be his foes; Jerusalem has become a filthy thing among them.	17 (Pe) Sión extiende sus manos | sin hallar quien la consuele; | el Señor envió a sus adversarios | para cercar a Jacob; | Jerusalén se ha convertido entre ellos | en impureza.
18 "The LORD is in the right, for I have rebelled against his word; but hear, all you peoples, and behold my suffering; my maidens and my young men have gone into captivity.	18 (Sade) «Justo ha sido el Señor, | pues fui rebelde a su mandato. | Escuchad, por favor, | todos los pueblos y ved mi dolor; | mis doncellas y mis jóvenes | han marchado al cautiverio.
19 "I called to my lovers but they deceived me; my priests and elders perished in the city, while they sought food to revive their strength.	19 (Qof) Llamé a mis amantes, | pero me han traicionado; | mis sacerdotes y mis ancianos | murieron en la ciudad, | mientras buscaban alimento | para recobrar las fuerzas.
20 "Behold, O LORD, for I am in distress, my soul is in tumult, my heart is wrung within me, because I have been very rebellious. In the street the sword bereaves; in the house it is like death.	20 (Res) ¡Contempla, Señor, mi angustia; | me bullen las entrañas!; | se me revuelve dentro el corazón, | porque he sido muy rebelde; | fuera, la espada me deja sin hijos; | en casa, la muerte.
21 "Hear how I groan; there is none to comfort me. All my enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done it. Bring thou the day thou hast announced, and let them be as I am.	21 (Sin) La gente escucha mis gemidos, | pero nadie me consuela; | mis enemigos, enterados de mi mal, | se alegran de que tú lo hayas hecho; | haz venir el día que anunciaste, | y terminarán como yo.
22 "Let all their evil doing come before thee; and deal with them as thou hast dealt with me because of all my transgressions; for my groans are many and my heart is faint."	22 (Tau) ¡Llegue toda su maldad hasta ti | y trátalos a ellos | como me has tratado a mí | por todos mis delitos!; | porque son muchos mis gemidos | y mi corazón desfallece».
