Jeremiah 37

1 Zedekiah the son of Josiah, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah, reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim.	1 E regnò lo re Sedecia, figliuolo di Iosia, in scambio [di Ieconia] figliuolo di Ioachim; il quale ordinò re Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, nella terra di Giuda.
2 But neither he nor his servants nor the people of the land listened to the words of the LORD which he spoke through Jeremiah the prophet.	2 E non ubbidio esso, nè li suoi servi, [nè il populo] della terra sua, alle parole di Dio, le quali egli parlò in mano di Ieremia profeta.
3 King Zedekiah sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the priest, the son of Ma-aseiah, to Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "Pray for us to the LORD our God."	3 E mandò lo re Sedecia Iucal figliuolo di Selemia, e Sofonia figliuolo di Maasia, sacerdote, a Ieremia profeta, dicendo: ora per noi lo nostro Signore Iddio.
4 Now Jeremiah was still going in and out among the people, for he had not yet been put in prison.	4 E Ieremia andava liberamente per lo mezzo del populo; e non lo aveano messo in guardia di carcere. Adunque lo esercito di Faraone sì è uscito fuori di Egitto; e udendolo i Caldei, i quali assediavano Ierusalem, a questo messaggio partironsi (e andorono) di Ierusalem.
5 The army of Pharaoh had come out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them, they withdrew from Jerusalem.	5 E disse Iddio a Ieremia profeta:
6 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet:	6 Questo dice lo Signore Iddio 'd' Israel: così direte allo re di Giuda, che vi mandò a domandarmi: ecco lo esèrcito di Faraone, il quale è uscito in adiutorio di voi, ritornerà nella sua terra in Egitto.
7 "Thus says the LORD, God of Israel: Thus shall you say to the king of Judah who sent you to me to inquire of me, 'Behold, Pharaoh's army which came to help you is about to return to Egypt, to its own land.	7 E ritorneranno i Caldei, e combatteranno incontro a questa città, e piglierannola, e incenderannola a fuoco.
8 And the Chaldeans shall come back and fight against this city; they shall take it and burn it with fire.	8 E questo dice Iddio: non vogliate ingannare le vostre anime, dicendo: andanti anderanno, e partirannosi da noi li Caldei; però che non anderanno.
9 Thus says the LORD, Do not deceive yourselves, saying, "The Chaldeans will surely stay away from us," for they will not stay away.	9 Ma se voi percoterete tutto lo esèrcito dei Caldei, i quali combattono incontro a voi, e saranno lasciati di loro alcuni feriti, ciascuno della sua tenda si leveranno, e accenderanno questa cittade a fuoco.
10 For even if you should defeat the whole army of Chaldeans who are fighting against you, and there remained of them only wounded men, every man in his tent, they would rise up and burn this city with fire.'"	10 Adunque quando fu partita l'oste de' Caldei da Ierusalem, per rispetto dello esèrcito di Faraone,
11 Now when the Chaldean army had withdrawn from Jerusalem at the approach of Pharaoh's army,	11 uscitte Ieremia di Ierusalem, e andò nella (sua) terra di Beniamin, per dividere ivi la possessione nel conspetto de' cittadini.
12 Jeremiah set out from Jerusalem to go to the land of Benjamin to receive his portion there among the people.	12 E quando venne alla porta di Beniamin, era ivi la guardia della porta uno che avea nome Ieria, figliuolo di Selenia, figliuolo di Anania, e pigliò Ieremia profeta, dicendo: tu fuggi a' Caldei?
13 When he was at the Benjamin Gate, a sentry there named Irijah the son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "You are deserting to the Chaldeans."	13 E rispose Ieremia: falsa cosa è, io non fuggo a' Caldei. E non lo udio (cioè non li credette): e pigliollo, e menollo ai principi.
14 And Jeremiah said, "It is false; I am not deserting to the Chaldeans." But Irijah would not listen to him, and seized Jeremiah and brought him to the princes.	14 Per la quale cosa i principi, adirati contro a Ieremia, ferito lo misono in carcere, la quale carcere era nella casa di Ionatan scriba; ed elli era soprastante della carcere.
15 And the princes were enraged at Jeremiah, and they beat him and imprisoned him in the house of Jonathan the secretary, for it had been made a prison.	15 Sì che Ieremia entrò nella (sua casa, ovvero nella) casa del lago e nell' ergastolo; e sede ivi molti dì.
16 When Jeremiah had come to the dungeon cells, and remained there many days,	16 E mandovvi lo re Sedecia per tenerlo; e dimandollo di nascoso nella casa sua, e disse: che pensi? ecci parola niuna da Dio? E disse Ieremia: sì. E disse: tu sarai dato nelle mani dello re di Babilonia.
17 King Zedekiah sent for him, and received him. The king questioned him secretly in his house, and said, "Is there any word from the LORD?" Jeremiah said, "There is." Then he said, "You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon."	17 E disse Ieremia a Sedecia: in che peccai io a te o alli tuoi servi o allo tuo popolo, perchè mi mettesti nella casa della carcere?
18 Jeremiah also said to King Zedekiah, "What wrong have I done to you or your servants or this people, that you have put me in prison?	18 Dove sono li vostri profeti, che profetavano a voi, e diccano: non verrà lo re di Babilonia sopra di voi e sopra questa terra?
19 Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, 'The king of Babylon will not come against you and against this land?	19 Ora odimi, e priegoti, o Signore re; valga la mia orazione nel conspetto tuo, e non mi rimetti nella casa di Ionatan scriba, acciò ch' io non muoia ivi.
20 Now hear, I pray you, O my lord the king: let my humble plea come before you, and do not send me back to the house of Jonathan the secretary, lest I die there."	20 E comandò lo re Sedecia, che Ieremia fusse dato all' antiporto della carcere, e fusseli dato una torta di pane ogni giorno (al continuo) senza alcuno polmento, (cioè dalla cucina), insino a tanto che si consumassono tutti li pani della città; e stette Ieremia all' antiporto della carcere.
21 So King Zedekiah gave orders, and they committed Jeremiah to the court of the guard; and a loaf of bread was given him daily from the bakers' street, until all the bread of the city was gone. So Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.
