Jeremiah 13

1 Thus said the LORD to me, "Go and buy a linen waistcloth, and put it on your loins, and do not dip it in water."	1 Dice Iddio a me: va e abbi uno braghiere in panno lineo, e ponlo sopra li tuoi lombi; e non lo mettere in acqua.
2 So I bought a waistcloth according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins.	2 E tenni lo braghiere secondo la parola del Signore, e io lo puosi attorno li miei lombi.
3 And the word of the LORD came to me a second time,	3 E Iddio mi parlò la seconda volta, e dissemi:
4 "Take the waistcloth which you have bought, which is upon your loins, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock."	4 Togli lo braghiere che hai tenuto intorno alli lombi; e va ad Eufrate, e nascondilo ivi in uno buco di pietra. (Eufrate sì è uno fiume, ed è uno delli quattro fiumi che escono del paradiso terrestre; e lo Genesis pone questo fiume nel secondo capitolo del primo libro, e pone degli altri fiumi che vanno per alcune contrade, ma di questo non pone nulla).
5 So I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.	5 E andai ad Eufrate, e ascosilo ivi, sì come mi comandò il Signore.
6 And after many days the LORD said to me, "Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take from there the waistcloth which I commanded you to hide there."	6 E dopo molti dì, disse Iddio a me: lèvati suso, e va ad Eufrate, e togli indi lo braghiere lo qual comandai a te che tu ascondessi quello ivi.
7 Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and I took the waistcloth from the place where I had hidden it. And behold, the waistcloth was spoiled; it was good for nothing.	7 E andai ad Eufrate, e cavai, e tolsi lo braghiere dove io l' avea nascoso; ed ecco che era fracido, sì che (quasi) non era atto a uso di persona.
8 Then the word of the LORD came to me:	8 E Iddio disse a me:
9 "Thus says the LORD: Even so will I spoil the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.	9 Questo dice lo Signore Iddio; così farò infracidare (e putire) la superbia di Giuda, e la molta superbia di Ierusalem;
10 This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who stubbornly follow their own heart and have gone after other gods to serve them and worship them, shall be like this waistcloth, which is good for nothing.	10 questo popolo pessimo il quale non ha udito (nè ascoltato) le mie parole, e vanno pure colla pravità del suo cuore, e andarono dopo li altrui idii acciò che servano loro; e saranno come questo braghiere, lo quale non è buono a nessuno uso.
11 For as the waistcloth clings to the loins of a man, so I made the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah cling to me, says the LORD, that they might be for me a people, a name, a praise, and a glory, but they would not listen.	11 Si come s' accosta lo braghiere alli lombi (cioè alli fianchi) dell' uomo, così mi avea congiunta la casa d'Israel e ogni casa di Giuda, dice Iddio, acciò che mi fusse [in] populo e in nome e in laude e in gloria; e non mi udirono, (e non mi intesono).
12 "You shall speak to them this word: 'Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, "Every jar shall be filled with wine."' And they will say to you, 'Do we not indeed know that every jar will be filled with wine?'	12 Adunque dirai loro questa parola: questo dice lo Signore Iddio d' Israel: ogni piccolo barile s' empierà di vino. E loro diranno a te: or non sappiamo noi, che ogni barile s' empierà di vino?
13 Then you shall say to them, 'Thus says the LORD: Behold, I will fill with drunkenness all the inhabitants of this land: the kings who sit on David's throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem.	13 E dirai a loro: questo dice Iddio: io empierò tutti li abitatori di questa terra, e li re li quali sederono (e regnarono) della schiatta di David sopra lo trono suo (lo trono si è sedia reale) e li sacerdoti e li profeti e tutti li abitatori di Ierusalem (empierono) di ebrietà.
14 And I will dash them one against another, fathers and sons together, says the LORD. I will not pity or spare or have compassion, that I should not destroy them.'"	14 E dispargerò loro, l' uomo da' suoi fratelli e li padri e li figliuoli, dice Iddio; non perdonerò, e non concederò; e non averò misericordia, ch' io non li facci disparsi.
15 Hear and give ear; be not proud, for the LORD has spoken.	15 Udite, e ricevete colle orecchie; e non vi vogliate levare, però che Iddio hae parlato.
16 Give glory to the LORD your God before he brings darkness, before your feet stumble on the twilight mountains, and while you look for light he turns it into gloom and makes it deep darkness.	16 Date gloria al vostro Signore Iddio, innanzi ch' egli intenebri, e confonda li vostri piedi (cioè le vostre operazioni) alli monti pieni di tenebre: aspetterete la luce, e porralla nell' ombra della morte, in oscurità.
17 But if you will not listen, my soul will weep in secret for your pride; my eyes will weep bitterly and run down with tears, because the LORD's flock has been taken captive.	17 La quale cosa se voi (non la udite e) non la udirete, l'anima mia piagnerà di nascoso dalla faccia della superbia; piagnendo piagnerà, e li miei occhi meneranno lacrime, però che è presa la greggia del Signore.
18 Say to the king and the queen mother: "Take a lowly seat, for your beautiful crown has come down from your head."	18 Di' allo re, e alla signoreggiatrice: adumiliatevi, sedete; però che la corona della vostra gloria discenderà dallo vostro capo.
19 The cities of the Negeb are shut up, with none to open them; all Judah is taken into exile, wholly taken into exile.	19 Le cittadi d'austro sono chiuse, e non è chi le apra; trasportata è tutta la Giudea in trasmigrazione perfetta.
20 "Lift up your eyes and see those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given you, your beautiful flock?	20 Levate li vostri occhi, e vedete quelli che vengono d' aquilone: dov'è la greggia la quale è data a te, la pecora inclita tua?
21 What will you say when they set as head over you those whom you yourself have taught to be friends to you? Will not pangs take hold of you, like those of a woman in travail?	21 Che dirai quando visiterà te? Tu li ammaestrasti al contrario, e insegnastili nel tuo capo; or non ti piglieranno li dolori, come fanno alla femina che partorisce?
22 And if you say in your heart, 'Why have these things come upon me?' it is for the greatness of your iniquity that your skirts are lifted up, and you suffer violence.	22 La qual cosa se tu dirai nel tuo cuore: o perchè intravennono a me queste cose? Per la moltitudine della tua iniquità rivelati sono i tuoi secreti, le tue piante sono corrutte.
23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots? Then also you can do good who are accustomed to do evil.	23 Se quello di Etiopia puote mutare la sua pelle, e lo leopardo le sue varietadi; e voi potrete ben fare, quando averete imparato lo male.
24 I will scatter you like chaff driven by the wind from the desert.	24 E seminerò loro come la stipola, la quale è tolta e portata dal vento nel deserto. (La stipola sì è cotale cosa debile, come fieno o legno minuto).
25 This is your lot, the portion I have measured out to you, says the LORD, because you have forgotten me and trusted in lies.	25 Questa sì è la tua sorte, e la parte della tua misura, dice Iddio, da me; però che m' hai dimenticato, e se'ti confidato nella bugia.
26 I myself will lift up your skirts over your face, and your shame will be seen.	26 Ond' è che io ho dinudato (e spogliato) li tuoi pettignoni contro alla tua faccia; ed è apparita la tua vergogna,
27 I have seen your abominations, your adulteries and neighings, your lewd harlotries, on the hills in the field. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! How long will it be before you are made clean?"	27 e i tuoi adulterii e lo tuo ghignare e le tue scellerate opere delle tue fornicazioni; sopra li colli nel campo io vidi le tue abominazioni. Guai a te, Ierusalem! Non sarai mondata dopo a me: persino a quando ancora?
