1 The LORD said to Moses on Mount Sinai,	1 Yahvé dit à Moïse sur la montagne du Sinaï:
2 "Say to the people of Israel, When you come into the land which I give you, the land shall keep a sabbath to the LORD.	2 “Voici ce que tu diras aux Israélites: Lorsque vous serez entrés dans le pays que Yahvé vous donne, la terre aura ses repos, ses sabbats en l’honneur de Yahvé.
3 Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather in its fruits;	3 Pendant six ans tu ensemenceras ton champ, pendant six ans tu tailleras ta vigne et tu en récolteras les fruits.
4 but in the seventh year there shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath to the LORD; you shall not sow your field or prune your vineyard.	4 Mais la septième année sera un sabbat, un repos solennel pour ta terre, un sabbat en l’honneur de Yahvé. Tu n’ensemenceras pas ton champ et tu ne tailleras pas ta vigne;
5 What grows of itself in your harvest you shall not reap, and the grapes of your undressed vine you shall not gather; it shall be a year of solemn rest for the land.	5 tu ne moissonneras pas le regain de ta moisson et tu ne récolteras pas les raisins de la vigne non taillée: ce sera une année sabbatique pour la terre.
6 The sabbath of the land shall provide food for you, for yourself and for your male and female slaves and for your hired servant and the sojourner who lives with you;	6 Ce que la terre produit naturellement sera ta nourriture, la nourriture de ton serviteur et de ta servante, de celui qui travaille à ton service et de celui qui demeure en ta maison: de tous ceux qui habitent au milieu de toi.
7 for your cattle also and for the beasts that are in your land all its yield shall be for food.	7 Ce qu’elle produit sera l’aliment de ton bétail et de tous les animaux qui sont dans ton pays.
8 "And you shall count seven weeks of years, seven times seven years, so that the time of the seven weeks of years shall be to you forty-nine years.	8 Lorsque tu auras compté sept semaines d’années, c’est-à-dire 49 ans,
9 Then you shall send abroad the loud trumpet on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the day of atonement you shall send abroad the trumpet throughout all your land.	9 au 10 du septième mois tu feras sonner du cor. Ce sera alors le Jour du Pardon, et tu feras sonner du cor dans tout le pays.
10 And you shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants; it shall be a jubilee for you, when each of you shall return to his property and each of you shall return to his family.	10 L’année des 50 ans sera pour vous une année sainte où vous proclamerez l’affranchissement pour tous les habitants dans le pays: ce sera pour vous le Jubilé. Chacun reprendra sa propriété, chacun retournera dans sa famille.
11 A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be to you; in it you shall neither sow, nor reap what grows of itself, nor gather the grapes from the undressed vines.	11 Cette cinquantième année sera pour vous un Jubilé. Vous ne sèmerez pas, vous ne moissonnerez pas le regain, vous ne récolterez pas sur la vigne non taillée,
12 For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you; you shall eat what it yields out of the field.	12 car c’est un Jubilé. Ce sera pour vous une année sainte, vous mangerez de ce que la terre produit naturellement.
13 "In this year of jubilee each of you shall return to his property.	13 L’année du Jubilé, chacun retournera dans sa propriété.
14 And if you sell to your neighbor or buy from your neighbor, you shall not wrong one another.	14 Aussi, ne faites pas de tort à votre prochain, ni à la vente, ni à l’achat d’une propriété.
15 According to the number of years after the jubilee, you shall buy from your neighbor, and according to the number of years for crops he shall sell to you.	15 Tu achèteras à ton prochain en tenant compte du nombre d’années écoulées depuis le dernier Jubilé, et lui te vendra d’après le nombre des années de récolte.
16 If the years are many you shall increase the price, and if the years are few you shall diminish the price, for it is the number of the crops that he is selling to you.	16 Plus il y a d’années à venir, plus le prix sera élevé. Moins il restera d’années, plus tu baisseras le prix, car c’est le nombre des récoltes qu’il te vend.
17 You shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God; for I am the LORD your God.	17 Que personne parmi vous ne fasse de tort à son frère. Tu craindras ton Dieu, car je suis Yahvé votre Dieu.
18 "Therefore you shall do my statutes, and keep my ordinances and perform them; so you will dwell in the land securely.	18 Si vous mettez mes lois en pratique, si vous observez mes commandements, vous habiterez en paix dans votre pays.
19 The land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill, and dwell in it securely.	19 La terre donnera son fruit, vous aurez à manger en abondance et vous l’habiterez en paix.
20 And if you say, 'What shall we eat in the seventh year, if we may not sow or gather in our crop?'	20 Vous direz peut-être: Que mangerons-nous la septième année, puisque nous ne semons pas et que nous ne récoltons pas?
21 I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, so that it will bring forth fruit for three years.	21 Sache que je vous enverrai ma bénédiction la sixième année, et la terre produira pour trois ans.
22 When you sow in the eighth year, you will be eating old produce; until the ninth year, when its produce comes in, you shall eat the old.	22 Quand vous sèmerez la huitième année, vous mangerez encore sur l’ancienne récolte. Et vous en mangerez encore jusqu’à la récolte de la neuvième année.
23 The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; for you are strangers and sojourners with me.	23 Les terres ne se vendront pas pour toujours, car le pays est à moi et vous êtes chez moi des hôtes et des gens de passage.
24 And in all the country you possess, you shall grant a redemption of the land.	24 Dans tout le pays que vous posséderez, vous accorderez un droit de rachat pour les terres.
25 "If your brother becomes poor, and sells part of his property, then his next of kin shall come and redeem what his brother has sold.	25 Si ton frère est dans la gêne et vend sa propriété, son plus proche parent pourra racheter ce que son frère a vendu.
26 If a man has no one to redeem it, and then himself becomes prosperous and finds sufficient means to redeem it,	26 Si l’homme n’a personne pour racheter en son nom, et qu’il a de quoi racheter lui-même,
27 let him reckon the years since he sold it and pay back the overpayment to the man to whom he sold it; and he shall return to his property.	27 il calculera les années depuis le jour de la vente et rendra le surplus à l’homme à qui il a vendu, puis il retournera dans sa propriété.
28 But if he has not sufficient means to get it back for himself, then what he sold shall remain in the hand of him who bought it until the year of jubilee; in the jubilee it shall be released, and he shall return to his property.	28 S’il ne trouve pas de quoi la racheter, la propriété restera vendue à celui qui l’a achetée jusqu’à l’année du Jubilé, mais à l’année du Jubilé elle retournera entre les mains de son premier propriétaire.
29 "If a man sells a dwelling house in a walled city, he may redeem it within a whole year after its sale; for a full year he shall have the right of redemption.	29 Si un homme vend une maison d’habitation dans une ville entourée de murs, son droit de rachat durera jusqu’à la fin de l’année. Son droit de rachat durera toute l’année.
30 If it is not redeemed within a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be made sure in perpetuity to him who bought it, throughout his generations; it shall not be released in the jubilee.	30 Si la maison située dans une ville entourée de murs n’a pas été rachetée avant la fin de l’année de la vente, elle appartiendra pour toujours à l’acheteur et à ses descendants. Même l’année du Jubilé elle ne sortira pas de leur possession.
31 But the houses of the villages which have no wall around them shall be reckoned with the fields of the country; they may be redeemed, and they shall be released in the jubilee.	31 On regardera comme faisant partie de la terre les maisons des villages qui ne sont pas entourés de murs; elles pourront être rachetées, et elles seront libérées l’année du Jubilé.
32 Nevertheless the cities of the Levites, the houses in the cities of their possession, the Levites may redeem at any time.	32 Les Lévites auront un droit perpétuel de rachat sur les maisons qu’ils possèdent dans leurs villes.
33 And if one of the Levites does not exercise his right of redemption, then the house that was sold in a city of their possession shall be released in the jubilee; for the houses in the cities of the Levites are their possession among the people of Israel.	33 Si quelqu’un achète une maison appartenant à un Lévite, la maison vendue dans la ville qui leur a été donnée sera libérée l’année du Jubilé, car les maisons situées dans les villes des Lévites sont leur propriété au milieu des Israélites.
34 But the fields of common land belonging to their cities may not be sold; for that is their perpetual possession.	34 Les champs qui entourent les villes des Lévites ne seront pas vendus: ils sont leur propriété pour toujours.
35 "And if your brother becomes poor, and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall maintain him; as a stranger and a sojourner he shall live with you.	35 Si ton frère est dans la gêne, si tu vois qu’il ne s’en sort pas, tu lui viendras en aide pour qu’il puisse vivre à ton côté, même s’il est déplacé ou seulement de passage.
36 Take no interest from him or increase, but fear your God; that your brother may live beside you.	36 Tu ne tireras de lui ni intérêt, ni profit, mais tu auras la crainte de ton Dieu et ton frère vivra grâce à toi.
37 You shall not lend him your money at interest, nor give him your food for profit.	37 Tu ne lui prêteras pas d’argent avec intérêt. Tu ne lui donneras pas de ta nourriture pour en tirer profit par la suite,
38 I am the LORD your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.	38 car je suis Yahvé, ton Dieu, qui vous ai fait sortir du pays d’Égypte, pour vous donner le pays de Canaan et pour être votre Dieu.
39 "And if your brother becomes poor beside you, and sells himself to you, you shall not make him serve as a slave:	39 Si ton frère qui est près de toi se trouve dans la gêne et se met à ton service, tu n’exigeras pas de lui un travail d’esclave.
40 he shall be with you as a hired servant and as a sojourner. He shall serve with you until the year of the jubilee;	40 Il sera chez toi et te servira comme un salarié, comme un hôte, jusqu’à l’année du Jubilé.
41 then he shall go out from you, he and his children with him, and go back to his own family, and return to the possession of his fathers.	41 Après quoi il sortira de chez toi avec ses enfants et retournera dans sa famille; il rentrera dans la propriété de ses ancêtres.
42 For they are my servants, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as slaves.	42 Car tous sont mes serviteurs que j’ai fait sortir du pays d’Égypte: on ne doit pas les vendre comme on vend des esclaves.
43 You shall not rule over him with harshness, but shall fear your God.	43 Tu ne seras donc pas pour ton frère un maître, mais tu craindras ton Dieu.
44 As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are round about you.	44 Si tu veux pour toi un esclave ou une servante, c’est dans les nations qui sont autour de toi que tu achèteras cet esclave ou cette servante.
45 You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their families that are with you, who have been born in your land; and they may be your property.	45 Tu pourras également l’acheter parmi les étrangers qui habitent au milieu de vous, ou dans leur famille, parmi les enfants qui sont nés dans votre pays: ceux-là seront votre propriété.
46 You may bequeath them to your sons after you, to inherit as a possession for ever; you may make slaves of them, but over your brethren the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another, with harshness.	46 Vous les laisserez à vos fils après vous et ils seront leur propriété; eux seront vos esclaves pour toujours. Mais avec vos frères israélites, vous n’agirez pas en maîtres exigeants, vous agirez comme on fait avec son frère.
47 "If a stranger or sojourner with you becomes rich, and your brother beside him becomes poor and sells himself to the stranger or sojourner with you, or to a member of the stranger's family,	47 Si un étranger ou un homme de passage s’est enrichi près de toi et que ton frère qui est dans la gêne s’est vendu à cet étranger, ou à cet homme de passage, ou aux enfants d’un étranger,
48 then after he is sold he may be redeemed; one of his brothers may redeem him,	48 il pourra se racheter après s’être vendu: un de ses frères pourra le racheter.
49 or his uncle, or his cousin may redeem him, or a near kinsman belonging to his family may redeem him; or if he grows rich he may redeem himself.	49 Son oncle, ou le fils de son oncle, ou encore l’un de ses proches parents pourra le racheter. Lui-même pourra se racheter s’il en a les moyens.
50 He shall reckon with him who bought him from the year when he sold himself to him until the year of jubilee, and the price of his release shall be according to the number of years; the time he was with his owner shall be rated as the time of a hired servant.	50 Il calculera avec celui qui l’a acheté depuis l’année où il s’est vendu à lui jusqu’à l’année du Jubilé. Le prix sera en proportion du nombre des années, en comptant ses journées de travail comme celles d’un mercenaire.
51 If there are still many years, according to them he shall refund out of the price paid for him the price for his redemption.	51 S’il y a encore beaucoup d’années, il paiera son rachat selon ces années en tenant compte du prix auquel il a été acheté.
52 If there remain but a few years until the year of jubilee, he shall make a reckoning with him; according to the years of service due from him he shall refund the money for his redemption.	52 Mais s’il reste peu d’années avant le Jubilé il en fera le compte, et paiera son rachat selon le nombre de ces années.
53 As a servant hired year by year shall he be with him; he shall not rule with harshness over him in your sight.	53 Il sera au long des ans comme un travailleur salarié; il ne faut pas qu’on le traite avec dureté sous tes yeux.
54 And if he is not redeemed by these means, then he shall be released in the year of jubilee, he and his children with him.	54 Si personne ne le rachète, il sortira libre l’année du Jubilé, et ses enfants avec lui.
55 For to me the people of Israel are servants, they are my servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.	55 Car c’est moi que servent les Israélites, ils sont mes serviteurs que j’ai fait sortir du pays d’Égypte: je suis Yahvé votre Dieu.
