Isaiah 9

1 But there will be no gloom for her that was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he will make glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.	1 Nel primo tempo fu alleviata la terra di Zabulon e di Neftali; e nel novissimo tempo fu aggravata la via del mare di là del (fiume) Giordano di Galilea delle genti.
2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined.	2 Lo popolo il quale andava nelle tenebre vide una grande luce; la luce è nata a quelli che àbitano nell'ombra della morte.
3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, thou hast increased its joy; they rejoice before thee as with joy at the harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.	3 Tu multiplicasti la gente, e non magnificasti la letizia. E allegraransi dinanzi a te, come quelli che si rallegrano nella ricolta, e come si rallegrano li vincitori presa la preda, quando dividono le robe.
4 For the yoke of his burden, and the staff for his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, thou hast broken as on the day of Midian.	4 Però che soperchiasti lo giogo del suo peso e la verga del suo omero e la verga regale (cioè la signoria) del suo (importuno) riscotitore, sì come nel dì di Madian.
5 For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult and every garment rolled in blood will be burned as fuel for the fire.	5 Però che ogni preda fatta per forza e con (grande) tumulto, e lo vestimento mescolato di sangue, sarà in abbruciamento, e cibo di fuoco.
6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."	6 Però che a noi è nato uno figliuolo piccolino, e dato è a noi (per) lo figliuolo, e la signoria è fatta sopra il suo omero; e chiamerassi per nome Maraviglioso, Consigliere, Iddio forte, padre del futuro secolo e principe di pace.
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David, and over his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and for evermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.	7 La sua signoria sarà multiplicata, e non si troverà fine di pace, (cioè che non verrà mai meno); e sederà sopra la sedia di David e sopra lo suo regno, acciò che confermi quello, e fortifichilo in giudicio e in giustizia, oggimai e in sempiterno; lo zelo del Signore delli eserciti farà questo.
8 The Lord has sent a word against Jacob, and it will light upon Israel;	8 Lo Signore mandò la parola (cioè lo comandamento) nella casa di Iacob, e cadde nella casa d' Israel.
9 and all the people will know, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart:	9 E tutto il popolo di Efraim lo saperà, e tutti li abitanti in Samaria, nella superbia e nella grandezza del cuore dicendo:
10 "The bricks have fallen, but we will build with dressed stones; the sycamores have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place."	10 li mattoni sono caduti, ma noi edificheremo colle pietre quadrate; tagliarono li sicomori, ma noi rinnovaremo li cedri.
11 So the LORD raises adversaries against them, and stirs up their enemies.	11 E lo Signore rilevarà li inimici di Rasin sopra lui, e li suoi inimici rivolgerà in grande furore di gente;
12 The Syrians on the east and the Philistines on the west devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away and his hand is stretched out still.	12 Siria da oriente, e li Filistei da occidente; e divoreranno Israel con tutta la bocca. E per tutte queste cose non si rivolse il suo furore, ma ancora la sua mano fu distesa.
13 The people did not turn to him who smote them, nor seek the LORD of hosts.	13 E il (mio) popolo non ritornò a colui che lo perseguitava, e non richiederono lo Signore delli eserciti.
14 So the LORD cut off from Israel head and tail, palm branch and reed in one day--	14 E Iddio disperderà d' Israel il capo e la coda, e lo incurvante (quello che è giusto) e lo depravante (la legge) in uno dì.
15 the elder and honored man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail;	15 E quello che è per longo tempo, e lo onorevole, è quello che è capo; e lo profeta che ammaestrarà la bugia, quello è la coda.
16 for those who lead this people lead them astray, and those who are led by them are swallowed up.	16 E li seducenti (cioè li sottraenti) saranno quelli i quali beatificaranno lo popolo; e quelli che sono beatificati, saranno traboccati.
17 Therefore the Lord does not rejoice over their young men, and has no compassion on their fatherless and widows; for every one is godless and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away and his hand is stretched out still.	17 E perciò lo Signore Iddio non diletterà sopra li suoi giovani, e non averà misericordia de' pupilli e delle vedove; però che ogni ipocrita è malvagio, e ciascuna bocca hae parlato stultizia. E per tutto questo non è rivolto il suo furore, ma ancora la sua mano si è distesa, (e lo suo populo non è ritornato allo suo percossore).
18 For wickedness burns like a fire, it consumes briers and thorns; it kindles the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.	18 E la empietà è accesa come fuoco, e divorerà li pruni e le spine; e sarà accesa nella densità dello bosco, e convolgerassi nella superbia del fumo.
19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts the land is burned, and the people are like fuel for the fire; no man spares his brother.	19 E la terra sarà conturbata nella ira del Signore delli eserciti; il popolo sarà quasi come esca di fuoco; l'uomo non perdonerà al suo fratello.
20 They snatch on the right, but are still hungry, and they devour on the left, but are not satisfied; each devours his neighbor's flesh,	20 E lui declinerà dalla mano diritta, e averà fame; e mangerà dalla parte manca, e non si saturerà; ciascuno divorerà la carne del suo braccio; Manasse Efraim, ed Efraim Manasse, insieme loro contro Giuda.
21 Manasseh Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh, and together they are against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away and his hand is stretched out still.	21 In tutto questo non si rivolse il furore [suo], ma ancora la sua mano è distesa.
