Isaiah 57

1 The righteous man perishes, and no one lays it to heart; devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from calamity,	1 Il giusto perisce, e non v'ha chi in cuor suo vi rifletta: e gli uomini pii sono rapiti, né alcuno ne ha sentimento; perocché prima che vengano i mali, il giusto é rapito.
2 he enters into peace; they rest in their beds who walk in their uprightness.	2 Venga la pace: riposi nel suo letto chiunque ha camminato nella rettitudine.
3 But you, draw near hither, sons of the sorceress, offspring of the adulterer and the harlot.	3 Ma voi appressatevi qua, o figliuoli d'una indovina, stirpe di padre adultero, e di prostituta.
4 Of whom are you making sport? Against whom do you open your mouth wide and put out your tongue? Are you not children of transgression, the offspring of deceit,	4 Di chi vi siete voi fatti beffe; contro di chi avete voi spalancata la bocca, e messa fuori la lingua? Non siete voi figliuoli scellerati, razza di bastardi?
5 you who burn with lust among the oaks, under every green tree; who slay your children in the valleys, under the clefts of the rocks?	5 Voi, che vi deliziate cogl'idoli sotto ogni pianta ramosa, immolando i pargoletti presso a' torrenti, e sotto massi scavati?
6 Among the smooth stones of the valley is your portion; they, they, are your lot; to them you have poured out a drink offering, you have brought a cereal offering. Shall I be appeased for these things?	6 La tua porzione è colà, dove corre il torrente, ivi è il tuo bene, la versi libagione, offerisci sagrifizio. Non mi muoverò io a sdegno per cose tali?
7 Upon a high and lofty mountain you have set your bed, and thither you went up to offer sacrifice.	7 Sopra un monte eccelso, e sublime collocasti il tuo letto, e colà salisti per immolarvi delle vittime.
8 Behind the door and the doorpost you have set up your symbol; for, deserting me, you have uncovered your bed, you have gone up to it, you have made it wide; and you have made a bargain for yourself with them, you have loved their bed, you have looked on nakedness.	8 E dietro alla porta, e dietro all'imposta hai collocato il tuo ricordo: e vicino a me hai peccato ricettando l'adultero: hai ingrandito il tuo letto, e con essi hai fatta alleanza: hai amato di star con essi scopertamente.
9 You journeyed to Molech with oil and multiplied your perfumes; you sent your envoys far off, and sent down even to Sheol.	9 E con unguento regio ti se' profumata, ed hai moltiplicati i tuoi belletti. Hai mandati lontano i tuoi ambasciadori, e se' stata umiliata fino all'inferno.
10 You were wearied with the length of your way, but you did not say, "It is hopeless"; you found new life for your strength, and so you were not faint.	10 Nella moltitudine di tue vie ti sei defatigata: non hai però detto: mi darò posa: hai colle mani tue trovato da vivere, per questo non porgi a me preghiera.
11 Whom did you dread and fear, so that you lied, and did not remember me, did not give me a thought? Have I not held my peace, even for a long time, and so you do not fear me?	11 Che è quello, che temesti tu, che mancasti di fede, e non ti ricordasti di me, né a me pensasti in cuor tuo? perch'io taceva, come se non vedessi, tu pur ti scordasti di me.
12 I will tell of your righteousness and your doings, but they will not help you.	12 Io farò conoscere la tua giustizia, e non gioveranno a te le opere tue.
13 When you cry out, let your collection of idols deliver you! The wind will carry them off, a breath will take them away. But he who takes refuge in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain.	13 Allorché tu alzerai le grida, ti salvino quegli, che tu hai radunati: ma tutto costoro se li porterà il vento, e un soffio li sbaragliera. Chi poi in me pon sua fidanza, avrà in eredità la terra, e possederà il mio monte santo.
14 And it shall be said, "Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstruction from my people's way."	14 E io dirò: Fate la strada, date il passaggio, allontanate dal sentiero, e alla via del mio popolo gli impacci;
15 For thus says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.	15 Perocché queste cose dice l'eccelso, e il sovragrande, che abita l'eternità, e santo è il nome di lui: nelle altezze egli fa sua dimora, e nel santo, e collo spirito contrito, ed umile, per vivificare lo spirito degli umili, e per vivificare il cuore contrito.
16 For I will not contend for ever, nor will I always be angry; for from me proceeds the spirit, and I have made the breath of life.	16 Imperocché io non per sempre disputerò, né sino al fine riterrò il mio sdegno; perchè dalla mia faccia viene lo spirito, ed io creo le anime.
17 Because of the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry, I smote him, I hid my face and was angry; but he went on backsliding in the way of his own heart.	17 Per la scellerata avarizia di lui io mi adirai, e lo ho flagellato: ascosi a lui la mia faccia, e arsi d'indegnazione; ed ei se n'andò vagabondo seguendo le vie del suo cuore.
18 I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and requite him with comfort, creating for his mourners the fruit of the lips.	18 Vidi i suoi andamenti, e lo sanai, e lo ricondussi, e rendetti a lui le mie consolazioni, cioè a quelli di lui, che lo piangevano.
19 Peace, peace, to the far and to the near, says the LORD; and I will heal him.	19 Ho creata la pace frutto delle (mie) labbra, pace a colui, che è lontano, e a colui, che è vicino, dice il Signore, e li ho sanati.
20 But the wicked are like the tossing sea; for it cannot rest, and its waters toss up mire and dirt.	20 Gli empj poi sono come mar procelloso, che non può star in calma, i flutti del quale ridondano di sordidezza, e di fango.
21 There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked."	21 Non è pace per gli empj, dice il Signore Dio.
