Isaiah 2

1 The word which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.	1 - La parola che Isaia, figlio di Amos, vide sopra Giuda e Gerusalemme.
2 It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it,	2 E sarà negli estremi giorni il monte della casa del Signore preparato in cima ai monti, innalzato sopra i colli, e vi affluiranno tutte le genti.
3 and many peoples shall come, and say: "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.	3 E popoli numerosi accorreranno dicendo: «Venite, saliamo al monte del Signore e alla casa del Dio di Giacobbe, e ci insegnerà le sue vie e cammineremo pei suoi sentieri; perchè da Sion la legge uscirà e la parola del Signore, da Gerusalemme.
4 He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.	4 E giudicherà le nazioni, e farà da moderatore tra le moltitudini dei popoli; e trasformeranno le loro spade in vomeri e le loro lance in falci, e non brandirà più spada gente contro gente, e non si eserciteranno più oltre a far battaglia».
5 O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD.	5 O casa di Giacobbe, venite, camminiamo nella luce del Signore!
6 For thou hast rejected thy people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of diviners from the east and of soothsayers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with foreigners.	6 Perchè tu hai rigettato il tuo popolo, la casa di Giacobbe, perchè si sono riempiti come una volta; inoltre ebbero indovini come i Filistei, e coi figli degli stranieri hanno fatto lega.
7 Their land is filled with silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; their land is filled with horses, and there is no end to their chariots.	7 Il paese si è riempito di argento e di oro, con tesori senza fine;
8 Their land is filled with idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their own fingers have made.	8 il paese si è riempito di cavalli, e i suoi cocchi sono senza numero; e il paese si è riempito di idoli; e hanno adorato l'opera delle loro mani, ciò che hanno fatto le loro dita.
9 So man is humbled, and men are brought low-- forgive them not!	9 E l'uomo vi si è incurvato davanti, l'uomo è disceso dal suo grado: e tu non la perdonerai loro.
10 Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty.	10 Entra nel cavo d'una roccia, nasconditi nelle viscere della terra in faccia allo spavento del Signore e dinanzi alla gloria della sua maestà.
11 The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the pride of men shall be humbled; and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.	11 Le ciglia erette dell'uomo sono state umiliate, sarà abbassata l'alterigia umana, e sarà esaltato il Signore solo in quel giorno.
12 For the LORD of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up and high;	12 Perchè vi sarà un giorno del Signore degli eserciti sopra ogni superbo ed altiero e sopra ogni orgoglioso, e sarà abbassato:
13 against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up; and against all the oaks of Bashan;	13 e sopra tutti i cedri del Libano, sublimi ed elevati; e sopra tutte le querce di Basan;
14 against all the high mountains, and against all the lofty hills;	14 e sopra tutti gli eccelsi monti, e sopra i colli prominenti;
15 against every high tower, and against every fortified wall;	15 e sopra ogni eccelsa torre e sopra ogni muro fortificato;
16 against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the beautiful craft.	16 e sopra le navi di Tarsis, e sopra tutto quanto v'ha di bello a vedersi.
17 And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled, and the pride of men shall be brought low; and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.	17 E la superbia umana sarà abbassata, e l'alterigia degli uomini sarà umiliata, e il Signore solo sarà esaltato in quel giorno;
18 And the idols shall utterly pass away.	18 e gli idoli saranno totalmente abbattuti.
19 And men shall enter the caves of the rocks and the holes of the ground, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.	19 Ed entreranno nelle spelonche delle rocce, e nelle cavità della terra, in faccia allo spavento del Signore, e dinanzi alla gloria della sua maestà, quando sorgerà a percuotere la terra.
20 In that day men will cast forth their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats,	20 In quel giorno l'uomo butterà via gli idoli del suo argento e i simulacri del suo oro che s'era fatti per adorarli, talpe e pipistrelli;
21 to enter the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.	21 e si rintanerà negli antri delle rocce e nelle spaccature delle rupi, in faccia alla gloria della sua maestà, quando sorgerà a percuotere la terra.
22 Turn away from man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?	22 Lasciate stare dunque l'uomo che ha l'alito nelle sue narici, perchè eccelso egli è reputato.
