Isaiah 2

1 The word which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.	1 Das Wort, das Jesaja, der Sohn des Amoz, in einer Vision über Juda und Jerusalem gehört hat.
2 It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it,	2 Am Ende der Tage wird es geschehen: Der Berg mit dem Haus des Herrn steht fest gegründet als höchster der Berge; er überragt alle Hügel. Zu ihm strömen alle Völker.
3 and many peoples shall come, and say: "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.	3 Viele Nationen machen sich auf den Weg. Sie sagen: Kommt, wir ziehen hinauf zum Berg des Herrn und zum Haus des Gottes Jakobs. Er zeige uns seine Wege, auf seinen Pfaden wollen wir gehen. Denn von Zion kommt die Weisung des Herrn, aus Jerusalem sein Wort.
4 He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.	4 Er spricht Recht im Streit der Völker, er weist viele Nationen zurecht. Dann schmieden sie Pflugscharen aus ihren Schwertern und Winzermesser aus ihren Lanzen. Man zieht nicht mehr das Schwert, Volk gegen Volk, und übt nicht mehr für den Krieg.
5 O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD.	5 Ihr vom Haus Jakob, kommt, wir wollen unsere Wege gehen im Licht des Herrn.
6 For thou hast rejected thy people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of diviners from the east and of soothsayers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with foreigners.	6 Ja, du hast dein Volk, das Haus Jakob, verstoßen; denn es ist voll von Zauberern und Wahrsagern wie das Volk der Philister und überflutet von Fremden.
7 Their land is filled with silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; their land is filled with horses, and there is no end to their chariots.	7 Sein Land ist voll Silber und Gold, zahllos sind seine Schätze. Sein Land ist voll von Pferden, zahllos sind seine Wagen.
8 Their land is filled with idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their own fingers have made.	8 Sein Land ist voll von Götzen. Alle beten das Werk ihrer Hände an, das ihre Finger gemacht haben.
9 So man is humbled, and men are brought low-- forgive them not!	9 Doch die Menschen müssen sich ducken, jeder Mann muss sich beugen. Verzeih ihnen nicht!
10 Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty.	10 Verkriech dich im Felsen, verbirg dich im Staub vor dem Schrecken des Herrn und seiner strahlenden Pracht!
11 The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the pride of men shall be humbled; and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.	11 Da senken sich die stolzen Augen der Menschen, die hochmütigen Männer müssen sich ducken, der Herr allein ist erhaben an jenem Tag.
12 For the LORD of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up and high;	12 Denn der Tag des Herrn der Heere kommt über alles Stolze und Erhabene, über alles Hohe - es wird erniedrigt -,
13 against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up; and against all the oaks of Bashan;	13 über alle hoch ragenden Zedern des Libanon und alle Eichen des Baschan,
14 against all the high mountains, and against all the lofty hills;	14 über alle hohen Berge und alle stattlichen Hügel,
15 against every high tower, and against every fortified wall;	15 über jeden hohen Turm und jede steile Mauer,
16 against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the beautiful craft.	16 über alle Tarschisch- Schiffe und die kostbaren Segler.
17 And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled, and the pride of men shall be brought low; and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.	17 Die stolzen Menschen müssen sich ducken, die hochmütigen Männer sich beugen, der Herr allein ist erhaben an jenem Tag.
18 And the idols shall utterly pass away.	18 Die Götzen aber schwinden alle dahin.
19 And men shall enter the caves of the rocks and the holes of the ground, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.	19 Verkriecht euch in Felshöhlen und Erdlöchern vor dem Schrecken des Herrn und vor seiner strahlenden Pracht, wenn er sich erhebt, um die Erde zu erschrecken.
20 In that day men will cast forth their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats,	20 An jenem Tag nimmt jeder seine silbernen und goldenen Götzen, die er gemacht hat, um sie anzubeten, und wirft sie den Fledermäusen und Ratten hin;
21 to enter the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.	21 und man wird sich in den Spalten und Höhlen der Felsen verkriechen vor dem Schrecken des Herrn und vor seiner strahlenden Pracht, wenn er sich erhebt, um die Erde zu erschrecken.
22 Turn away from man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?	22 [Lasst doch ab vom Menschen; in seiner Nase ist nur ein Lufthauch. Was bedeutet er schon?]
