Sirach 5

1 Do not set your heart on your wealth, nor say, "I have enough."	1 μη επεχε επι τοις χρημασιν σου και μη ειπης αυταρκη μοι εστιν
2 Do not follow your inclination and strength, walking according to the desires of your heart.	2 μη εξακολουθει τη ψυχη σου και τη ισχυι σου πορευεσθαι εν επιθυμιαις καρδιας σου
3 Do not say, "Who will have power over me?" for the Lord will surely punish you.	3 και μη ειπης τις με δυναστευσει ο γαρ κυριος εκδικων εκδικησει
4 Do not say, "I sinned, and what happened to me?" for the Lord is slow to anger.	4 μη ειπης ημαρτον και τι μοι εγενετο ο γαρ κυριος εστιν μακροθυμος
5 Do not be so confident of atonement that you add sin to sin.	5 περι εξιλασμου μη αφοβος γινου προσθειναι αμαρτιαν εφ' αμαρτιαις
6 Do not say, "His mercy is great, he will forgive the multitude of my sins," for both mercy and wrath are with him, and his anger rests on sinners.	6 και μη ειπης ο οικτιρμος αυτου πολυς το πληθος των αμαρτιων μου εξιλασεται ελεος γαρ και οργη παρ' αυτω και επι αμαρτωλους καταπαυσει ο θυμος αυτου
7 Do not delay to turn to the Lord, nor postpone it from day to day; for suddenly the wrath of the Lord will go forth, and at the time of punishment you will perish.	7 μη αναμενε επιστρεψαι προς κυριον και μη υπερβαλλου ημεραν εξ ημερας εξαπινα γαρ εξελευσεται οργη κυριου και εν καιρω εκδικησεως εξολη
8 Do not depend on dishonest wealth, for it will not benefit you in the day of calamity.	8 μη επεχε επι χρημασιν αδικοις ουδεν γαρ ωφελησει σε εν ημερα επαγωγης
9 Do not winnow with every wind, nor follow every path: the double-tongued sinner does that.	9 μη λικμα εν παντι ανεμω και μη πορευου εν παση ατραπω ουτως ο αμαρτωλος ο διγλωσσος
10 Be steadfast in your understanding, and let your speech be consistent.	10 ισθι εστηριγμενος εν συνεσει σου και εις εστω σου ο λογος
11 Be quick to hear, and be deliberate in answering.	11 γινου ταχυς εν ακροασει σου και εν μακροθυμια φθεγγου αποκρισιν
12 If you have understanding, answer your neighbor; but if not, put your hand on your mouth.	12 ει εστιν σοι συνεσις αποκριθητι τω πλησιον ει δε μη η χειρ σου εστω επι τω στοματι σου
13 Glory and dishonor come from speaking, and a man's tongue is his downfall.	13 δοξα και ατιμια εν λαλια και γλωσσα ανθρωπου πτωσις αυτω
14 Do not be called a slanderer, and do not lie in ambush with your tongue; for shame comes to the thief, and severe condemnation to the double-tongued.	14 μη κληθης ψιθυρος και τη γλωσση σου μη ενεδρευε επι γαρ τω κλεπτη εστιν αισχυνη και καταγνωσις πονηρα επι διγλωσσου
15 In great and small matters do not act amiss, and do not become an enemy instead of a friend.	15 εν μεγαλω και εν μικρω μη αγνοει και αντι φιλου μη γινου εχθρος ονομα γαρ πονηρον αισχυνην και ονειδος κληρονομησει ουτως ο αμαρτωλος ο διγλωσσος
