Sirach 47

1 And after him Nathan rose up to prophesy in the days of David.	1 Dopo Samuel si levoe Natan profeta nelli di di David.
2 As the fat is selected from the peace offering, so David was selected from the sons of Israel.	2 E quasi lo grasso spartito dalla carne, così fu David dalli figliuoli d' Israel.
3 He played with lions as with young goats, and with bears as with lambs of the flock.	3 Con li leoni scherzoe sì come [con] li agnelli; e con gli orsi fece somigliantemente come cogli agnelli delle pecore, nella giovinezza sua.
4 In his youth did he not kill a giant, and take away reproach from the people, when he lifted his hand with a stone in the sling and struck down the boasting of Goliath?	4 Or non uccise egli il gigante, e levò via il vituperio della gente?
5 For he appealed to the Lord, the Most High, and he gave him strength in his right hand to slay a man mighty in war, to exalt the power of his people.	5 In levando la mano, [col sasso] della rombola abbattè la esaltazione di Golia.
6 So they glorified him for his ten thousands, and praised him for the blessings of the Lord, when the glorious diadem was bestowed upon him.	6 Dove egli invocoe Iddio onnipotente; e concedetteli nella sua mano diritta di levare via l'uomo ch' era forte nella battaglia, e concedetteli di esaltare il corno della gente sua.
7 For he wiped out his enemies on every side, and annihilated his adversaries the Philistines; he crushed their power even to this day.	7 Così glorificoe lui in dieci milia, e laudò lui nelle benedizioni del Signore, e in offerire a colui corona di gloria.
8 In all that he did he gave thanks to the Holy One, the Most High, with ascriptions of glory; he sang praise with all his heart, and he loved his Maker.	8 Attritoe li nimici da ogni parte, e distirpò li Filistei contrarii infino nel dì d'oggi; attritoe il corno di coloro infino in eterno.
9 He placed singers before the altar, to make sweet melody with their voices.	9 In ogni opera diede confessione al santo Dio, e [allo] Eccelso in ogni sua opera di gloria.
10 He gave beauty to the feasts, and arranged their times throughout the year, while they praised God's holy name, and the sanctuary resounded from early morning.	10 E di tutto il cuore suo laudò Iddio, e amoe il Signore che il fece e che gli diede potenza contro alli nimici.
11 The Lord took away his sins, and exalted his power for ever; he gave him the covenant of kings and a throne of glory in Israel.	11 E fece stare li cantori contro all' altare, e fece dolci toni nel suono di coloro.
12 After him rose up a wise son who fared amply because of him;	12 E assegnoe nelle celebrazioni onore, e adornoe li tempi insino al compimento della vita, acciò ch' elli laudassono il nome santo di Dio, e amplificassono il dì della santitade di Dio.
13 Solomon reigned in days of peace, and God gave him rest on every side, that he might build a house for his name and prepare a sanctuary to stand for ever.	13 Lo Spirito Santo sì purgoe li peccati di David, ed esaltoe in eterno lo corno suo; e diedeli testamento eterno, e la gloria della sedia d' Israel.
14 How wise you became in your youth! You overflowed like a river with understanding.	14 Dopo lui si levò il figliuolo suo prudente (cioè, Salomone); e per lui abbattè ogni potenza dei nimici.
15 Your soul covered the earth, and you filled it with parables and riddles.	15 Salomone imperoe nelli di della pace, a cui. Iddio sottopose tutti li nimici, acciò ch' elli edificasse il tempio nel nome suo, e apparecchiasse santitade in sempiterno. Come fu savio nella giovinezza sua!
16 Your name reached to far-off islands, and you were loved for your peace.	16 E fue ripieno, sì come fiume, di sapienza; e l'anima sua ritesseo la terra.
17 For your songs and proverbs and parables, and for your interpretations, the countries marveled at you.	17 O Salomone, tu dilucidasti per la similitudine li scuri intendimenti; il nome tuo è divulgato alle isole di lungi, e fosti amato nella tua pace.
18 In the name of the Lord God, who is called the God of Israel, you gathered gold like tin and amassed silver like lead.	18 Le terre si maravigliarono nelle canzoni tue, e nelle parole, e nelle similitudini, e nelle interpretazioni tue,
19 But you laid your loins beside women, and through your body you were brought into subjection.	19 e nel nome di Dio tuo, il cui sopranome è: Iddio d' Israel.
20 You put stain upon your honor, and defiled your posterity, so that you brought wrath upon your children and they were grieved at your folly,	20 Tu cogliesti oro, sì come fosse oricalco (cioè ottone), e ariento sì come fosse piombo.
21 so that the sovereignty was divided and a disobedient kingdom arose out of Ephraim.	21 E inchinasti li femori tuoi alle femine; e avesti potestade (di femine) sopra lo corpo tuo.
22 But the Lord will never give up his mercy, nor cause any of his works to perish; he will never blot out the descendants of his chosen one, nor destroy the posterity of him who loved him; so he gave a remnant to Jacob, and to David a root of his stock.	22 Dèsti macchia nella tua fama, e contaminasti il seme tuo, e inducesti iracundia (di Dio) ai tuoi discendenti; e nelle altre cose inducesti la stoltizia tua.
23 Solomon rested with his fathers, and left behind him one of his sons, ample in folly and lacking in understanding, Rehoboam, whose policy caused the people to revolt. Also Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin and gave Ephraim a sinful way.	23 Onde fue diviso il tuo imperio in due imperii; e facesti sì che X tribù delle XII furono signoreggiate da duro signore.
24 Their sins became exceedingly many, so as to remove them from their land.	24 Ma Iddio non abbandonerà la misericordia sua, e non corromperà e non guasterà l'opere sue, e non ucciderà della stirpe i nepoti del suo eletto (David); il seme di David, che ama il Signore, non corromperà (in tutto).
25 For they sought out every sort of wickedness, till vengeance came upon them.	25 E diede il rimanente di Iacob e di David (a uomo) di quella schiatta (di David).
	26 E la fine (di David) ebbe Salomone con li padri suoi.
	27 E lasciò dopo sè istoltezza della gente del seme suo;
	28 Roboam diminuito dalla sua prudenza, il quale per lo suo consiglio fece partire la gente dallo suo Iddio;
	29 e Ieroboam, figliuolo di Nabat, il quale fece peccare Israel, e diede a X tribù via di peccare; e molti loro peccati ritornarono.
	30 Molto (certo) li rimossero della terra sua.
	31 E cercoe (Ieroboam) ogni malizia, infino che [alle] X tribù venne da Dio la difensione, che da tutti peccati liberoe.
