Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition Biblia Sagrada
Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven pillars.1 La sabiduría se ha hecho una casa, | ha labrado siete columnas;
She has slaughtered her beasts, she has mixed her wine, she has also set her table.2 ha sacrificado víctimas, | ha mezclado el vino | y ha preparado la mesa.
She has sent out her maids to call from the highest places in the town,3 Ha enviado a sus criados a anunciar | en los puntos que dominan la ciudad:
"Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!" To him who is without sense she says,4 «Vengan aquí los inexpertos»; | y a los faltos de juicio les dice:
"Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed.5 «Venid a comer de mi pan, | a beber el vino que he mezclado;
Leave simpleness, and live, and walk in the way of insight."6 dejad la inexperiencia y viviréis, | seguid el camino de la inteligencia».
He who corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury.7 Quien corrige al insolente recibe insultos; | quien reprende al malvado, desprecios.
Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.8 No corrijas al insolente, que te odiará; | reprende al sensato y te querrá;
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man and he will increase in learning.9 instruye al sabio, y será más sabio; | enseña al honrado, y aprenderá.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.10 El comienzo de la sabiduría es el temor del Señor, | conocer al Santo implica inteligencia.
For by me your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life.11 Por mí prolongarás tus días, | se añadirán años a tu vida;
If you are wise, you are wise for yourself; if you scoff, you alone will bear it.12 si eres sensato, lo serás en tu provecho; | si te burlas, solo tú lo pagarás.
A foolish woman is noisy; she is wanton and knows no shame.13 La mujer necia es bullanguera, | la ingenua no tiene vergüenza;
She sits at the door of her house, she takes a seat on the high places of the town,14 se sienta a la puerta de su casa, | en un asiento que domina la ciudad,
calling to those who pass by, who are going straight on their way,15 para gritar a la gente que pasa, | a los que van derechos por el camino:
"Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!" And to him who is without sense she says,16 «Vengan aquí los inexpertos; | quiero hablar a los faltos de juicio.
Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant."17 El agua robada es más dulce; | el pan a escondidas, más sabroso».
But he does not know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.18 Y no saben que en su casa están las sombras, | que sus invitados bajan a lo hondo del Abismo.
