Proverbs 7

1 My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you;	1 Figlio mio, ritieni le mie parole e conserva dentro di te i miei precetti,
2 keep my commandments and live, keep my teachings as the apple of your eye;	2 Osserva i miei precetti e vivrai; e la mia istruzione come la pupilla dei tuoi occhi.
3 bind them on your fingers, write them on the tablet of your heart.	3 Legateli alle dita, scrivili sulla tavola del tuo cuore.
4 Say to wisdom, "You are my sister," and call insight your intimate friend;	4 Di’ alla sapienza: «Tu sei mia sorella», e chiama parente l’intelligenza,
5 to preserve you from the loose woman, from the adventuress with her smooth words.	5 affinché ti preservino dalla donna straniera, dalla forestiera che usa parole mielate,
6 For at the window of my house I have looked out through my lattice,	6 Alla finestra di casa mia, guardavo fuori attraverso le persiane,
7 and I have seen among the simple, I have perceived among the youths, a young man without sense,	7 quando scorsi, fra gli ingenui, notai fra gli stolti un giovane privo di senno:
8 passing along the street near her corner, taking the road to her house	8 passava per la strada, presso l’angolo della sua casa e percorreva il cammino della casa di lei,
9 in the twilight, in the evening, at the time of night and darkness.	9 al crepuscolo della sera, nel cuore della notte e delle tenebre.
10 And lo, a woman meets him, dressed as a harlot, wily of heart.	10 Ed ecco una donna farglisi incontro, vestita da prostituta, velata,
11 She is loud and wayward, her feet do not stay at home;	11 chiassosa, sempre in glro, non sa tenere i piedi in casa sua:
12 now in the street, now in the market, and at every corner she lies in wait.	12 ora per strada, ora nelle piazze e a ogni angolo sta in agguato.
13 She seizes him and kisses him, and with impudent face she says to him:	13 Lo abbraccia, lo bacia mostra una faccia tosta e gli dice:
14 "I had to offer sacrifices, and today I have paid my vows;	14 «Dovevo offrire sacrifici pacifici e oggi sciolgo i miei voti;
15 so now I have come out to meet you, to seek you eagerly, and I have found you.	15 perciò sono uscita incontro a te, per cercare te e ti ho trovato.
16 I have decked my couch with coverings, colored spreads of Egyptian linen;	16 Ho fornito il mio letto di morbidi cuscini con tappeti di filo d’Egitto;
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.	17 ho spruzzato il mio giaciglio di mirra, aloe e cinnamomo.
18 Come, let us take our fill of love till morning; let us delight ourselves with love.	18 Vieni, inebbriamoci d’amore fino al mattino sollazziamoci in piaceri amorosi;
19 For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey;	19 poiché mio marito non è a casa, è partito per un viaggio lontano;
20 he took a bag of money with him; at full moon he will come home."	20 ha preso con sé il sacchetto del denaro; fino al plenilunio non tornerà a casa.
21 With much seductive speech she persuades him; with her smooth talk she compels him.	21 Lo persuade con le molte sue lusinghe, lo adesca con la dolcezza delle sue labbra;
22 All at once he follows her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a stag is caught fast	22 ed egli la segue stupidamente, come un bue che va al macello, come un cervo adescato al laccio,
23 till an arrow pierces its entrails; as a bird rushes into a snare; he does not know that it will cost him his life.	23 finché una freccia non gli squarcia il fegato; come un uccello che si precipita nella trappola e non sa che si tratta della vita.
24 And now, O sons, listen to me, and be attentive to the words of my mouth.	24 Ora dunque, figlio mio, ascoltami e sta attento alle parole della mia bocca:
25 Let not your heart turn aside to her ways, do not stray into her paths;	25 il tuo cuore non declini nelle vie di costei, non errare per i suoi sentieri,
26 for many a victim has she laid low; yea, all her slain are a mighty host.	26 perché molti ne ha fatto cadere trafitti e grande è il numero degli uccisi da lei.
27 Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death.	27 La sua casa è la via dello Sheol, che discende i penetrali della morte.
