Psalms 49

1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. Hear this, all peoples! Give ear, all inhabitants of the world,	1 - Salmo di Asaf. Iddio degli dèi, il Signore parla e convoca la terra dall'oriente del sole sino all'occidente.
2 both low and high, rich and poor together!	2 Da Sion lo splendore di sua magnificenza [rifulge];
3 My mouth shall speak wisdom; the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.	3 Iddio pubblicamente viene, Iddio nostro, e non tace. Un fuoco divampa dinanzi a lui, e attorno a lui [infuria] violenta tempesta.
4 I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will solve my riddle to the music of the lyre.	4 Chiama il cielo di su in altoe la terra per giudicare il suo popolo:
5 Why should I fear in times of trouble, when the iniquity of my persecutors surrounds me,	5 «Adunate intorno a me i miei fedeli, che han sancito il mio patto co' sacrifizi».
6 men who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches?	6 E proclamano i cieli la sua giustizia, poichè Dio è il giudice.
7 Truly no man can ransom himself, or give to God the price of his life,	7 «Ascolta, popol mio, e ti parlerò, [ascolta], Israele, e ti attesterò [la mia disapprovazione]Iddio, Iddio tuo io sono.
8 for the ransom of his life is costly, and can never suffice,	8 Non per i tuoi sacrifizi ti farò rimproveri, chè i tuoi olocausti son sempre davanti a me.
9 that he should continue to live on for ever, and never see the Pit.	9 Ma io non no bisogno di prendere i giovenchi dalla tua casa, nè dalle tue greggi i montoni.
10 Yea, he shall see that even the wise die, the fool and the stupid alike must perish and leave their wealth to others.	10 Perchè miei son tutti gli animali della foresta, i giumenti sui monti e i buoi.
11 Their graves are their homes for ever, their dwelling places to all generations, though they named lands their own.	11 conosco tutti i volatili del cielo, e la bellezza del campo è a mia disposizione.
12 Man cannot abide in his pomp, he is like the beasts that perish.	12 Se avessi fame, non lo direi a te, poichè mio è il mondo e quanto lo riempie.
13 This is the fate of those who have foolish confidence, the end of those who are pleased with their portion. [Selah]	13 Mangio io forse carne di tori, e bevo sangue di montoni?
14 Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol; Death shall be their shepherd; straight to the grave they descend, and their form shall waste away; Sheol shall be their home.	14 Immola a Dio un sacrifizio di lode e compi così verso l'Altissimo i tuoi voti.
15 But God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol, for he will receive me. [Selah]	15 E invocami nel giorno della tribolazione, e ti libererò e mi renderai onore».
16 Be not afraid when one becomes rich, when the glory of his house increases.	16 E al malvagio dice Iddio:«Perchè vai tu parlando de' miei precetti, e ti rechi alla bocca il mio patto,
17 For when he dies he will carry nothing away; his glory will not go down after him.	17 [mentre] hai in odio la correzione e ti getti le mie parole dietro le spalle?
18 Though, while he lives, he counts himself happy, and though a man gets praise when he does well for himself,	18 Se vedi un ladro, tu corri con lui, e con gli adulteri tu fai comunanza.
19 he will go to the generation of his fathers, who will never more see the light.	19 La tua bocca ridonda di maliziae la tua lingua trama inganni.
20 Man cannot abide in his pomp, he is like the beasts that perish.	20 Sedendo [a conversazione], tu parli contro il tuo fratello, e contro il figlio di tua madre tu metti scandali.
	21 Questo hai fatto e io son stato zitto: hai creduto empiamente che fossi simile a te. Ti redarguirò e metterò [ogni cosa] in faccia a te.
	22 Badate a questo, o voi che vi dimenticate di Dio, perchè io non vi dilanii, e non ci sia [poi] chi vi salvi.
	23 [Chi offre] sacrifizio di lode mi onora, e questa è la via per cui gli mostrerò la salvezza di Dio».
