Psalms 14

Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition Pattloch Bibel
1 To the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none that does good.1 [Dem Chorleiter. Psalm Davids.] Der Tor denkt in seinem Herzen: Es gibt keinen Gott. Sie sind verkommen, treiben Verruchtes, keiner ist, der Gutes tut.
2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any that act wisely, that seek after God.2 Der Herr blickt vom Himmel herab auf die Menschen, zu sehen, ob es einen Verständigen gibt, der nach Gott fragt.
3 They have all gone astray, they are all alike corrupt; there is none that does good, no, not one.3 Doch sie sind alle abgewichen, restlos verdorben, keiner tut Gutes, auch nicht ein einziger.
4 Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon the LORD?4 Kommen denn nie zur Einsicht die Übeltäter alle, die mein Volk verschlingen, wie man Brot ißt, nicht aber den Herrn anrufen?
5 There they shall be in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous.5 Dabei müssen sie gewaltig erschrecken;
6 You would confound the plans of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge.6 denn Gott zerstreut die Glieder der Ruchlosen; sie werden beschämt, da der Herr sie verwirft.
7 O that deliverance for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, Israel shall be glad.7 O daß doch vom Sion Heil für Israel käme! Wenn der Herr das Geschick seines Volkes wendet, möge Jakob jubeln, Israel sich freuen!
