1 A Song of Ascents. To thee I lift up my eyes, O thou who art enthroned in the heavens!	1 Cantico dei gradi. Se il Signore non fosse stato con noi; dica adesso Israele: Se il Signore non fosse stato con noi,
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he have mercy upon us.	2 Allorché gli uomini si levaron su contro di noi, ci avrebber forse ingoiati vivi:
3 Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us, for we have had more than enough of contempt.	3 Allorché il loro furore infuriava contro di noi forse l'acqua ci avrebbe assorti.
4 Too long our soul has been sated with the scorn of those who are at ease, the contempt of the proud.	4 L'anima nostra ha valicato il torrente: forse l'anima nostra avrebbe dovuto valicare un' acqua insuperabile.
	5 Benedetto Dio, che non ci ha fatti preda de' loro denti.
	6 L'anima nostra è stata sciolta qual passera dal lacciuolo de' cacciatori:
	7 Il laccio è stato spezzato, e noi siamo stati liberati.
	8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore, che fece il cielo, e la terra.
