1 I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.	1 Ich liebe den HERRN, denn er hat erhörtmein flehentlich Rufen;
2 Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.	2 ja, er hat sein Ohr mir zugeneigt:ich will zu ihm rufen mein Leben lang!
3 The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish.	3 Umschlungen hatten mich des Todes Netzeund die Ängste der Unterwelt mich befallen,in Drangsal und Kummer war ich geraten.
4 Then I called on the name of the LORD: "O LORD, I beseech thee, save my life!"	4 Da rief ich den Namen des HERRN an: »Ach, HERR, errette meine Seele (oder: mein Leben)!«
5 Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful.	5 Gnädig ist der HERR und gerecht,und unser Gott ist voll Erbarmens;
6 The LORD preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me.	6 der HERR schützt den, der unbeirrt ihm traut:ich war schwach geworden, aber er half mir.
7 Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.	7 Kehre zurück, meine Seele, zu deiner Ruhe,denn der HERR hat Gutes an dir getan!
8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling;	8 Ja, du hast mein Leben vom Tode errettet,meine Augen vom Weinen,meinen Fuß vom Anstoß (oder: Gleiten);
9 I walk before the LORD in the land of the living.	9 ich werde noch wandeln vor dem HERRNin den Landen des Lebens (oder: der Lebenden).
10 I kept my faith, even when I said, "I am greatly afflicted";	10 Ich habe Glauben gehalten, wenn ich auch sagte: »Ich bin gar tief gebeugt«;
11 I said in my consternation, "Men are all a vain hope."	11 in meiner Verzagtheit hab’ ich gesagt: »Die Menschen sind Lügner allesamt.«
12 What shall I render to the LORD for all his bounty to me?	12 Wie soll ich dem HERRN vergeltenalles, was er mir Gutes getan?
13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD,	13 Den Becher des Heils will ich erhebenund den Namen des HERRN anrufen;
14 I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.	14 meine Gelübde will ich bezahlen (= erfüllen) dem HERRN,ja angesichts seines ganzen Volkes.
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.	15 Kostbar ist in den Augen des HERRNder Tod seiner Frommen.
16 O LORD, I am thy servant; I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid. Thou hast loosed my bonds.	16 Ach, HERR, ich bin ja dein Knecht,ich bin dein Knecht, der Sohn deiner Magd;meine Bande hast du gelöst:
17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.	17 dir will ich Dankopfer bringenund den Namen des HERRN anrufen;
18 I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people,	18 meine Gelübde will ich bezahlen (= erfüllen) dem HERRN,ja angesichts seines ganzen Volkes,
19 in the courts of the house of the LORD, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!	19 in den Vorhöfen am Hause des HERRN,in deiner Mitte, Jerusalem! Halleluja!
