Job 32

1 So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.	1 Ces trois hommes cessèrent de répondre à Job parce qu'il s'estimait juste.
2 Then Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became angry. He was angry at Job because he justified himself rather than God;	2 Mais voici que se mit en colère Elihu, fils de Barakéel le Buzite, du clan de Ram. Sa colère s'enflammacontre Job parce qu'il prétendait avoir raison contre Dieu;
3 he was angry also at Job's three friends because they had found no answer, although they had declared Job to be in the wrong.	3 elle s'enflamma également contre ses trois amis, qui n'avaient plus rien trouvé à répliquer et ainsiavaient laissé les torts à Dieu.
4 Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job because they were older than he.	4 Tandis qu'ils parlaient avec Job, Elihu avait attendu, car ils étaient ses anciens;
5 And when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, he became angry.	5 mais quand il vit que ces trois hommes n'avaient plus de réponse à la bouche, sa colère éclata.
6 And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered: "I am young in years, and you are aged; therefore I was timid and afraid to declare my opinion to you.	6 Et il prit la parole, lui, Elihu, fils de Barakéel le Buzite, et il dit: Je suis tout jeune encore, et vous êtesdes anciens; aussi je craignais, intimidé, de vous manifester mon savoir.
7 I said, 'Let days speak, and many years teach wisdom.'	7 Je me disais: "L'âge parlera, les années nombreuses feront connaître la sagesse."
8 But it is the spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty, that makes him understand.	8 A la vérité, c'est un esprit dans l'homme, c'est le souffle de Shaddaï qui rend intelligent.
9 It is not the old that are wise, nor the aged that understand what is right.	9 Le grand âge ne donne pas la sagesse, ni la vieillesse le sens du juste.
10 Therefore I say, 'Listen to me; let me also declare my opinion.'	10 Aussi, je vous invite à m'écouter, car je vais manifester, à mon tour, mon savoir.
11 "Behold, I waited for your words, I listened for your wise sayings, while you searched out what to say.	11 Jusqu'ici, j'attendais vos paroles, j'ouvrais l'oreille à vos raisonnements, tandis que chacun cherchaitses mots.
12 I gave you my attention, and, behold, there was none that confuted Job, or that answered his words, among you.	12 Sur vous se fixait mon attention. Et je vois qu'aucun n'a confondu Job, nul d'entre vous n'a réfuté sesdires.
13 Beware lest you say, 'We have found wisdom; God may vanquish him, not man.'	13 Ne dites donc pas: "Nous avons trouvé la sagesse; notre doctrine est divine, non humaine."
14 He has not directed his words against me, and I will not answer him with your speeches.	14 Ce n'est pas ainsi que je discuterai, je répliquerai à Job en d'autres termes.
15 "They are discomfited, they answer no more; they have not a word to say.	15 Ils sont restés interdits, sans réponse; les mots leur ont manqué.
16 And shall I wait, because they do not speak, because they stand there, and answer no more?	16 Et j'attendais! Puisqu'ils ne parlent plus, qu'ils ont cessé de se répondre,
17 I also will give my answer; I also will declare my opinion.	17 je prendrai la parole à mon tour, je montrerai moi aussi mon savoir.
18 For I am full of words, the spirit within me constrains me.	18 Car je suis plein de mots, oppressé par un souffle intérieur.
19 Behold, my heart is like wine that has no vent; like new wineskins, it is ready to burst.	19 En mon sein, c'est comme un vin nouveau cherchant issue et qui fait éclater des outres neuves.
20 I must speak, that I may find relief; I must open my lips and answer.	20 Parler me soulagera, j'ouvrirai les lèvres et je répondrai.
21 I will not show partiality to any person or use flattery toward any man.	21 Je ne prendrai le parti de personne, à aucun je ne dirai des mots flatteurs.
22 For I do not know how to flatter, else would my Maker soon put an end to me.	22 Je ne sais point flatter, car mon Créateur me supprimerait sous peu.
