1 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered:	1 És felelt a súhi Bildád, és ezt mondta:
2 "How long will you hunt for words? Consider, and then we will speak.	2 »Mikor értek a szóbeszéd végére? Előbb térjetek észre, s úgy beszéljünk!
3 Why are we counted as cattle? Why are we stupid in your sight?	3 Miért tartsanak minket állatoknak, és miért legyünk tisztátalanok a szemetekben?
4 You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be forsaken for you, or the rock be removed out of its place?	4 Te marcangolod magadat dühödben; kedvedért talán néptelenné váljék a föld, s a sziklák elmozduljanak helyükből?
5 "Yea, the light of the wicked is put out, and the flame of his fire does not shine.	5 Nemde kialszik a gonosznak világossága, és nem fénylik tüzének lángja.
6 The light is dark in his tent, and his lamp above him is put out.	6 Sátrában a fény elsötétül, s elalszik a mécses felette.
7 His strong steps are shortened and his own schemes throw him down.	7 Erőteljes lépései elernyednek, és fondorlata földre teríti;
8 For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walks on a pitfall.	8 hálóba akad lábával, verem fonadéka fölött járkál;
9 A trap seizes him by the heel, a snare lays hold of him.	9 lábát csapda fogja és hurok szorítja;
10 A rope is hid for him in the ground, a trap for him in the path.	10 tőr van elrejtve számára a földön, és kelepce vár rá az ösvényen;
11 Terrors frighten him on every side, and chase him at his heels.	11 mindenfelől rémség ijeszti és fonja be lábát.
12 His strength is hunger-bitten, and calamity is ready for his stumbling.	12 Erejét éhség fogyasztja, és bordáit koplalás emészti.
13 By disease his skin is consumed, the first-born of death consumes his limbs.	13 Elsorvasztja bőre szépségét s elemészti tagjait a halál elsőszülöttje;
14 He is torn from the tent in which he trusted, and is brought to the king of terrors.	14 kiragadja őt sátrából, amelyben bizakodott, és elküldi az iszonyat királyához.
15 In his tent dwells that which is none of his; brimstone is scattered upon his habitation.	15 Olyan sátorban lakik, amely már nincs is, és ként szórnak lakóhelye fölé.
16 His roots dry up beneath, and his branches wither above.	16 Alul elszáradnak a gyökerei, felül pedig eltapossák termését.
17 His memory perishes from the earth, and he has no name in the street.	17 Elvész emléke a föld színéről, nem említik nevét az utcákon;
18 He is thrust from light into darkness, and driven out of the world.	18 a világosságból a sötétségbe taszítják, és elüldözik a föld kerekségéről.
19 He has no offspring or descendant among his people, and no survivor where he used to live.	19 Nem marad népe közt sem fia, sem sarja, és szállásán nincsenek hátrahagyottak.
20 They of the west are appalled at his day, and horror seizes them of the east.	20 Ítélete napjától megrémülnek a nyugatiak, s iszonyat szállja meg a kelet lakóit.
21 Surely such are the dwellings of the ungodly, such is the place of him who knows not God."	21 Így járnak a bűnösök hajlékai, s ilyen a lakóhelye annak, aki Istennel nem törődik.«
