1 And all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.	1 Danach holte das gesamte Volk von Juda den Ussia, obwohl er erst sechzehn Jahre alt war, und machte ihn zum König an Stelle seines Vaters Amazja.
2 He built Eloth and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.	2 Er baute Elat aus, das er Juda wieder einverleibte, nachdem der König zu seinen Vätern entschlafen war.
3 Uzziah was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.	3 Ussia war sechzehn Jahre alt, als er die Königsherrschaft antrat, und herrschte zweiundfünfzig Jahre in Jerusalem. Der Name seiner Mutter war Jecholja aus Jerusalem.
4 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.	4 Ussia tat, was dem Herrn wohlgefiel, ganz wie sein Vater Amazja getan hatte.
5 He set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God; and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him prosper.	5 Er strebte danach, Gott zu dienen, solange Sacharja lebte, der ihn die Ehrfurcht vor Gott lehrte. Solange er dem Herrn diente, ließ Gott ihm Erfolge angedeihen.
6 He went out and made war against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath and the wall of Jabneh and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the territory of Ashdod and elsewhere among the Philistines.	6 Er zog aus und kämpfte gegen die Philister, riß die Mauer von Gat ein sowie die Mauer von Jabne und die Mauer von Asdod und ließ Städte in der Gegend von Asdod und im Philisterland ausbauen.
7 God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabs that dwelt in Gurbaal, and against the Me-unites.	7 Gott stand ihm bei gegen die Philister und gegen die Araber, die in Gerar wohnten, sowie gegen die Mëuniter.
8 The Ammonites paid tribute to Uzziah, and his fame spread even to the border of Egypt, for he became very strong.	8 Die Mëuniter leisteten Ussia Tribut. Sein Ruhm reichte bis an die Grenze Ägyptens; denn er war überaus mächtig geworden.
9 Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate and at the Valley Gate and at the Angle, and fortified them.	9 Ussia baute in Jerusalem Türme auf dem Ecktor, auf dem Taltor und am Winkel und befestigte sie.
10 And he built towers in the wilderness, and hewed out many cisterns, for he had large herds, both in the Shephelah and in the plain, and he had farmers and vinedressers in the hills and in the fertile lands, for he loved the soil.	10 Auch in der Steppe baute er Türme und grub viele Zisternen. Er besaß nämlich zahlreichen Viehbestand in der Niederung und in der Ebene, hatte Landarbeiter und Winzer auf den Bergen und im Fruchtland; denn er schätzte den Ackerbau sehr.
11 Moreover Uzziah had an army of soldiers, fit for war, in divisions according to the numbers in the muster made by Je-iel the secretary and Ma-aseiah the officer, under the direction of Hananiah, one of the king's commanders.	11 Ussia hatte auch ein Heer, das Kriegsdienste tat und in geschlossenen Scharen in den Kampf zog gemäß der Anzahl, wie sie der Schreiber Jeïel und der Amtmann Maaseja unter Aufsicht Chananjas, eines der königlichen Fürsten, gemustert hatte.
12 The whole number of the heads of fathers' houses of mighty men of valor was two thousand six hundred.	12 Die Gesamtzahl der Familienhäupter der kriegstüchtigen Mannschaft betrug zweitausendsechshundert.
13 Under their command was an army of three hundred and seven thousand five hundred, who could make war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.	13 Unter ihrem Befehl stand eine Heeresmacht von dreihundertsiebentausendfünfhundert Mann, die ihren Kriegsdienst leisteten, ein schlagkräftiges Heer, um dem König wider seine Feinde zu helfen.
14 And Uzziah prepared for all the army shields, spears, helmets, coats of mail, bows, and stones for slinging.	14 Ussia besorgte für den ganzen Heerbann Schilde, Lanzen, Helme, Panzer, Bogen und Geräte für die Schleudersteine.
15 In Jerusalem he made engines, invented by skilful men, to be on the towers and the corners, to shoot arrows and great stones. And his fame spread far, for he was marvelously helped, till he was strong.	15 Er verfertigte in Jerusalem geistreich ausgedachte Wurfmaschinen, die auf den Türmen und Mauerecken aufgestellt wurden, um Pfeile und gewaltige Steine abschießen zu können. So verbreitete sich sein Ruhm weithin; denn ihm ward wunderbare Hilfe zuteil, so daß er stark an Macht wurde.
16 But when he was strong he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was false to the LORD his God, and entered the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense.	16 Als er aber erstarkt war, wurde sein Herz hochmütig und verstieg sich zu verkehrtem Tun. Er verging sich wider den Herrn, seinen Gott, indem er in den Tempel des Herrn ging, um auf dem Räucheraltar zu räuchern.
17 But Azariah the priest went in after him, with eighty priests of the LORD who were men of valor;	17 Der Oberpriester Asarja folgte ihm; in seiner Begleitung waren achtzig Priester des Herrn, vornehme Männer.
18 and they withstood King Uzziah, and said to him, "It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary; for you have done wrong, and it will bring you no honor from the LORD God."	18 Sie traten gegen den König Ussia auf und sprachen zu ihm: "Es kommt dir nicht zu, Ussia, dem Herrn zu räuchern, sondern nur den Priestern, den Söhnen Aarons, die geweiht wurden, das Rauchopfer darzubringen! Verlaß das Heiligtum, denn du hast dich vergangen; es gereicht dir nicht zur Ehre bei Gott, dem Herrn!"
19 Then Uzziah was angry. Now he had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and when he became angry with the priests leprosy broke out on his forehead, in the presence of the priests in the house of the LORD, by the altar of incense.	19 Ussia geriet in Zorn; in seiner Hand hielt er bereits das Rauchfaß, um zu räuchern. Während er nun an den Priestern seinen Zorn ausließ, brach an seiner Stirne der Aussatz hervor. Es geschah in Gegenwart der Priester im Tempel des Herrn am Räucheraltar.
20 And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead! And they thrust him out quickly, and he himself hastened to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.	20 Als der Hohepriester Asarja und alle übrigen Priester sich ihm zuwandten, war er an der Stirne aussätzig geworden. Sie drängten ihn eiligst von dort weg. Er beeilte sich auch selbst, hinauszukommen; denn der Herr hatte ihn geschlagen.
21 And King Uzziah was a leper to the day of his death, and being a leper dwelt in a separate house, for he was excluded from the house of the LORD. And Jotham his son was over the king's household, governing the people of the land.	21 So war der König aussätzig bis zu seinem Todestag. Er wohnte in einem abgesonderten Haus als Aussätziger; denn vom Haus des Herrn war er ausgeschlossen. Sein Sohn Jotam aber verwaltete die königlichen Krongüter und richtete das Volk des Landes.
22 Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, from first to last, Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz wrote.	22 Die übrigen Taten Ussias, die früheren und die späteren, zeichnete der Prophet Isaias, der Sohn des Amoz, auf.
23 And Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the burial field which belonged to the kings, for they said, "He is a leper." And Jotham his son reigned in his stead.	23 Ussia aber entschlief zu seinen Ahnen, und man begrub ihn bei seinen Vätern, jedoch auf freiem Feld neben der königlichen Begräbnisstätte; denn man sagte sich: "Er war aussätzig." Sein Sohn Jotam folgte ihm in der Königsherrschaft.
