1 The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal.	1 בְּנֵי יְהוּדָה פֶּרֶץ חֶצְרֹון וְכַרְמִי וְחוּר וְשֹׁובָל
2 Re-aiah the son of Shobal was the father of Jahath, and Jahath was the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the families of the Zorathites.	2 וּרְאָיָה בֶן־שֹׁובָל הֹולִיד אֶת־יַחַת וְיַחַת הֹלִיד אֶת־אֲחוּמַי וְאֶת־לָהַד אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹות הַצָּרְעָתִי׃ ס
3 These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi,	3 וְאֵלֶּה אֲבִי עֵיטָם יִזְרְעֶאל וְיִשְׁמָא וְיִדְבָּשׁ וְשֵׁם אֲחֹותָם הַצְלֶלְפֹּונִי
4 and Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the first-born of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.	4 וּפְנוּאֵל אֲבִי גְדֹר וְעֵזֶר אֲבִי חוּשָׁה אֵלֶּה בְנֵי־חוּר בְּכֹור אֶפְרָתָה אֲבִי בֵּית לָחֶם
5 Ashhur, the father of Tekoa, had two wives, Helah and Naarah;	5 וּלְאַשְׁחוּר אֲבִי תְקֹועַ הָיוּ שְׁתֵּי נָשִׁים חֶלְאָה וְנַעֲרָה
6 Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Ha-ahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.	6 וַתֵּלֶד לֹו נַעֲרָה אֶת־אֲחֻזָּם וְאֶת־חֵפֶר וְאֶת־תֵּימְנִי וְאֶת־הָאֲחַשְׁתָּרִי אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי נַעֲרָה
7 The sons of Helah: Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan.	7 וּבְנֵי חֶלְאָה צֶרֶת [יִצְחָר כ] (וְצֹחַר ק) וְאֶתְנָן
8 Koz was the father of Anub, Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.	8 וְקֹוץ הֹולִיד אֶת־עָנוּב וְאֶת־הַצֹּבֵבָה וּמִשְׁפְּחֹות אֲחַרְחֵל בֶּן־הָרוּם
9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, "Because I bore him in pain."	9 וַיְהִי יַעְבֵּץ נִכְבָּד מֵאֶחָיו וְאִמֹּו קָרְאָה שְׁמֹו יַעְבֵּץ לֵאמֹר כִּי יָלַדְתִּי בְּעֹצֶב
10 Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that thou wouldst bless me and enlarge my border, and that thy hand might be with me, and that thou wouldst keep me from harm so that it might not hurt me!" And God granted what he asked.	10 וַיִּקְרָא יַעְבֵּץ לֵאלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר אִם־בָּרֵךְ תְּבָרֲכֵנִי וְהִרְבִּיתָ אֶת־גְּבוּלִי וְהָיְתָה יָדְךָ עִמִּי וְעָשִׂיתָ מֵּרָעָה לְבִלְתִּי עָצְבִּי וַיָּבֵא אֱלֹהִים אֵת אֲשֶׁר־שָׁאָל
11 Chelub, the brother of Shuhah, was the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.	11 וּכְלוּב אֲחִי־שׁוּחָה הֹולִיד אֶת־מְחִיר הוּא אֲבִי אֶשְׁתֹּון
12 Eshton was the father of Bethrapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Irnahash. These are the men of Recah.	12 וְאֶשְׁתֹּון הֹולִיד אֶת־בֵּית רָפָא וְאֶת־פָּסֵחַ וְאֶת־תְּחִנָּה אֲבִי עִיר נָחָשׁ אֵלֶּה אַנְשֵׁי רֵכָה׃ ס
13 The sons of Kenaz: Othni-el and Seraiah; and the sons of Othni-el: Hathath and Meonothai.	13 וּבְנֵי קְנַז עָתְנִיאֵל וּשְׂרָיָה וּבְנֵי עָתְנִיאֵל חֲתַת
14 Meonothai was the father of Ophrah; and Seraiah was the father of Joab the father of Ge-harashim, so-called because they were craftsmen.	14 וּמְעֹונֹתַי הֹולִיד אֶת־עָפְרָה וּשְׂרָיָה הֹולִיד אֶת־יֹואָב אֲבִי גֵּיא חֲרָשִׁים כִּי חֲרָשִׁים הָיוּ׃ פ
15 The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the sons of Elah: Kenaz.	15 וּבְנֵי כָּלֵב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּה עִירוּ אֵלָה וָנָעַם וּבְנֵי אֵלָה וּקְנַז
16 The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiri-a, and Asarel.	16 וּבְנֵי יְהַלֶּלְאֵל זִיף וְזִיפָה תִּירְיָא וַאֲשַׂרְאֵל
17 The sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. These are the sons of Bithi-ah, the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered married; and she conceived and bore Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah, the father of Eshtemoa.	17 וּבֶן־עֶזְרָה יֶתֶר וּמֶרֶד וְעֵפֶר וְיָלֹון וַתַּהַר אֶת־מִרְיָם וְאֶת־שַׁמַּי וְאֶת־יִשְׁבָּח אֲבִי אֶשְׁתְּמֹעַ
18 And his Jewish wife bore Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah.	18 וְאִשְׁתֹּו הַיְהֻדִיָּה יָלְדָה אֶת־יֶרֶד אֲבִי גְדֹור וְאֶת־חֶבֶר אֲבִי שֹׂוכֹו וְאֶת־יְקוּתִיאֵל אֲבִי זָנֹוחַ וְאֵלֶּה בְּנֵי בִּתְיָה בַת־פַּרְעֹה אֲשֶׁר לָקַח מָרֶד׃ ס
19 The sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the fathers of Keilah the Garmite and Eshtemoa the Ma-acathite.	19 וּבְנֵי אֵשֶׁת הֹודִיָּה אֲחֹות נַחַם אֲבִי קְעִילָה הַגַּרְמִי וְאֶשְׁתְּמֹעַ הַמַּעֲכָתִי
20 The sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-hanan, and Tilon. The sons of Ishi: Zoheth and Ben-zoheth.	20 וּבְנֵי שִׁימֹון אַמְנֹון וְרִנָּה בֶּן־חָנָן [וְתֹולֹון כ] (וְתִילֹון ק) וּבְנֵי יִשְׁעִי זֹוחֵת וּבֶן־זֹוחֵת
21 The sons of Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of linen workers at Beth-ashbea;	21 בְּנֵי שֵׁלָה בֶן־יְהוּדָה עֵר אֲבִי לֵכָה וְלַעְדָּה אֲבִי מָרֵשָׁה וּמִשְׁפְּחֹות בֵּית־עֲבֹדַת הַבֻּץ לְבֵית אַשְׁבֵּעַ
22 and Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who ruled in Moab and returned to Lehem (now the records are ancient).	22 וְיֹוקִים וְאַנְשֵׁי כֹזֵבָא וְיֹואָשׁ וְשָׂרָף אֲשֶׁר־בָּעֲלוּ לְמֹואָב וְיָשֻׁבִי לָחֶם וְהַדְּבָרִים עַתִּיקִים
23 These were the potters and inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah; they dwelt there with the king for his work.	23 הֵמָּה הַיֹּוצְרִים וְיֹשְׁבֵי נְטָעִים וּגְדֵרָה עִם־הַמֶּלֶךְ בִּמְלַאכְתֹּו יָשְׁבוּ שָׁם׃ ס
24 The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul;	24 בְּנֵי שִׁמְעֹון נְמוּאֵל וְיָמִין יָרִיב זֶרַח שָׁאוּל
25 Shallum was his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.	25 שַׁלֻּם בְּנֹו מִבְשָׂם בְּנֹו מִשְׁמָע בְּנֹו
26 The sons of Mishma: Hammu-el his son, Zaccur his son, Shime-i his son.	26 וּבְנֵי מִשְׁמָע חַמּוּאֵל בְּנֹו זַכּוּר בְּנֹו שִׁמְעִי בְנֹו
27 Shime-i had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers had not many children, nor did all their family multiply like the men of Judah.	27 וּלְשִׁמְעִי בָּנִים שִׁשָּׁה עָשָׂר וּבָנֹות שֵׁשׁ וּלְאֶחָיו אֵין בָּנִים רַבִּים וְכֹל מִשְׁפַּחְתָּם לֹא הִרְבּוּ עַד־בְּנֵי יְהוּדָה׃ ס
28 They dwelt in Beer-sheba, Moladah, Hazar-shual,	28 וַיֵּשְׁבוּ בִּבְאֵר־שֶׁבַע וּמֹולָדָה וַחֲצַר שׁוּעָל
29 Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad,	29 וּבְבִלְהָה וּבְעֶצֶם וּבְתֹולָד
30 Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag,	30 וּבִבְתוּאֵל וּבְחָרְמָה וּבְצִיקְלָג
31 Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Beth-biri, and Sha-araim. These were their cities until David reigned.	31 וּבְבֵית מַרְכָּבֹות וּבַחֲצַר סוּסִים וּבְבֵית בִּרְאִי וּבְשַׁעֲרָיִם אֵלֶּה עָרֵיהֶם עַד־מְלֹךְ דָּוִיד
32 And their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan, five cities,	32 וְחַצְרֵיהֶם עֵיטָם וָעַיִן רִמֹּון וְתֹכֶן וְעָשָׁן עָרִים חָמֵשׁ
33 along with all their villages which were round about these cities as far as Baal. These were their settlements, and they kept a genealogical record.	33 וְכָל־חַצְרֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבֹות הֶעָרִים הָאֵלֶּה עַד־בָּעַל זֹאת מֹושְׁבֹתָם וְהִתְיַחְשָׂם לָהֶם
34 Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah the son of Amaziah,	34 וּמְשֹׁובָב וְיַמְלֵךְ וְיֹושָׁה בֶּן־אֲמַצְיָה
35 Joel, Jehu the son of Joshibiah, son of Seraiah, son of Asi-el,	35 וְיֹואֵל וְיֵהוּא בֶּן־יֹושִׁבְיָה בֶּן־שְׂרָיָה בֶּן־עֲשִׂיאֵל
36 Eli-o-enai, Ja-akobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adi-el, Jesimiel, Benaiah,	36 וְאֶלְיֹועֵינַי וְיַעֲקֹבָה וִישֹׁוחָיָה וַעֲשָׂיָה וַעֲדִיאֵל וִישִׂימִאֵל וּבְנָיָה
37 Ziza the son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah--	37 וְזִיזָא בֶן־שִׁפְעִי בֶן־אַלֹּון בֶּן־יְדָיָה בֶן־שִׁמְרִי בֶּן־שְׁמַעְיָה
38 these mentioned by name were princes in their families, and their fathers' houses increased greatly.	38 אֵלֶּה הַבָּאִים בְּשֵׁמֹות נְשִׂיאִים בְּמִשְׁפְּחֹותָם וּבֵית אֲבֹותֵיהֶם פָּרְצוּ לָרֹוב
39 They journeyed to the entrance of Gedor, to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks,	39 וַיֵּלְכוּ לִמְבֹוא גְדֹר עַד לְמִזְרַח הַגָּיְא לְבַקֵּשׁ מִרְעֶה לְצֹאנָם
40 where they found rich, good pasture, and the land was very broad, quiet, and peaceful; for the former inhabitants there belonged to Ham.	40 וַיִּמְצְאוּ מִרְעֶה שָׁמֵן וָטֹוב וְהָאָרֶץ רַחֲבַת יָדַיִם וְשֹׁקֶטֶת וּשְׁלֵוָה כִּי מִן־חָם הַיֹּשְׁבִים שָׁם לְפָנִים
41 These, registered by name, came in the days of Hezekiah, king of Judah, and destroyed their tents and the Me-unim who were found there, and exterminated them to this day, and settled in their place, because there was pasture there for their flocks.	41 וַיָּבֹאוּ אֵלֶּה הַכְּתוּבִים בְּשֵׁמֹות בִּימֵי ׀ יְחִזְקִיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה וַיַּכּוּ אֶת־אָהֳלֵיהֶם וְאֶת־ [הַמְּעִינִים כ] (הַמְּעוּנִים ק) אֲשֶׁר נִמְצְאוּ־שָׁמָּה וַיַּחֲרִימֻם עַד־הַיֹּום הַזֶּה וַיֵּשְׁבוּ תַּחְתֵּיהֶם כִּי־מִרְעֶה לְצֹאנָם שָׁם
42 And some of them, five hundred men of the Simeonites, went to Mount Seir, having as their leaders Pelatiah, Ne-ariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi;	42 וּמֵהֶם ׀ מִן־בְּנֵי שִׁמְעֹון הָלְכוּ לְהַר שֵׂעִיר אֲנָשִׁים חֲמֵשׁ מֵאֹות וּפְלַטְיָה וּנְעַרְיָה וּרְפָיָה וְעֻזִּיאֵל בְּנֵי יִשְׁעִי בְּרֹאשָׁם
43 and they destroyed the remnant of the Amalekites that had escaped, and they have dwelt there to this day.	43 וַיַּכּוּ אֶת־שְׁאֵרִית הַפְּלֵטָה לַעֲמָלֵק וַיֵּשְׁבוּ שָׁם עַד הַיֹּום הַזֶּה
