1 Now these are the men who came to David at Ziklag, while he could not move about freely because of Saul the son of Kish; and they were among the mighty men who helped him in war.	1 Voici ceux qui rejoignirent David à Siklag, lorsqu’il était loin de Saül, fils de Kich. C’étaient des combattants courageux et dignes de confiance, membres de la tribu de Benjamin, à laquelle appartenait Saül.
2 They were bowmen, and could shoot arrows and sling stones with either the right or the left hand; they were Benjaminites, Saul's kinsmen.	2 C’étaient des archers capables de lancer des pierres ou de tirer des flèches de la main gauche comme de la main droite. 14 These Gadites were officers of the army, the lesser over a hundred and the greater over a thousand.	14 Yirméya le dixième, Makbannaï le onzième.
15 These are the men who crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it was overflowing all its banks, and put to flight all those in the valleys, to the east and to the west.	15 Ces fils de Gad étaient les têtes de l’armée: le moins expérimenté valait à lui seul cent hommes, le plus expérimenté en valait mille.
16 And some of the men of Benjamin and Judah came to the stronghold to David.	16 Ce sont eux qui traversèrent le Jourdain au premier mois, quand il déborde de ses rives et met en fuite les habitants des vallées de l’est comme de l’ouest.
17 David went out to meet them and said to them, "If you have come to me in friendship to help me, my heart will be knit to you; but if to betray me to my adversaries, although there is no wrong in my hands, then may the God of our fathers see and rebuke you."	17 Des hommes sortis des tribus de Benjamin et de Juda rejoignirent David dans son refuge.
18 Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, chief of the thirty, and he said, "We are yours, O David; and with you, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helpers! For your God helps you." Then David received them, and made them officers of his troops.	18 David vint à leur rencontre et leur dit: “Si vous venez à moi en amis, pour me soutenir, je suis prêt à me joindre à vous. Mais si c’est pour me livrer à mes adversaires alors que je n’ai rien fait de mal, que le Dieu de nos pères le voie et vous punisse.”
19 Some of the men of Manasseh deserted to David when he came with the Philistines for the battle against Saul. (Yet he did not help them, for the rulers of the Philistines took counsel and sent him away, saying, "At peril to our heads he will desert to his master Saul.")	19 Alors l’esprit de Dieu s’empara d’Amasaï, chef des Trente: “Nous sommes à toi, David! Nous sommes avec toi, fils de Jessé! La paix soit avec toi et avec qui te soutient, Car Dieu est avec toi!” David les accueillit et les fit officiers dans son armée.
20 As he went to Ziklag these men of Manasseh deserted to him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jedia-el, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, chiefs of thousands in Manasseh.	20 Quelques-uns de la tribu de Manassé se rallièrent à David alors qu’il se préparait avec les Philistins à lutter contre Saül. Mais David n’aida pas les Philistins, parce que leurs chefs avaient décidé en conseil de le renvoyer. Ils se disaient: “Il rejoindra son maître Saül au prix de notre vie.”
21 They helped David against the band of raiders; for they were all mighty men of valor, and were commanders in the army.	21 Il était sur le chemin de Siklag quand les hommes de Manassé se joignirent à lui: c’étaient Adnah, Yozabad, Yédiaël, Mikaël, Yozabad, Élihou et Silétaï, chefs de milliers en Manassé.
22 For from day to day men kept coming to David to help him, until there was a great army, like an army of God.	22 Ils étaient un bon renfort pour David et ses troupes, car c’étaient tous d’excellents soldats: ils devinrent officiers dans l’armée.
23 These are the numbers of the divisions of the armed troops, who came to David in Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul over to him, according to the word of the LORD.	23 En fait, presque tous les jours de nouveaux hommes se joignaient aux forces de David si bien que son camp devint un camp énorme.
24 The men of Judah bearing shield and spear were six thousand eight hundred armed troops.	24 Voici des chiffres tirés de la liste des braves qui se joignirent à David à Hébron pour lui remettre la royauté de Saül, selon la volonté de Yahvé:
25 Of the Simeonites, mighty men of valor for war, seven thousand one hundred.	25 Les fils de Juda portant bouclier et lance: 6 800 hommes équipés pour le combat.
26 Of the Levites four thousand six hundred.	26 Des fils de Siméon: 7 100 hommes parfaitement entraînés.
27 The prince Jehoiada, of the house of Aaron, and with him three thousand seven hundred.	27 Des fils de Lévi: 4 600,
28 Zadok, a young man mighty in valor, and twenty-two commanders from his own father's house.	28 s’ajoutant à Yoyada, renommé parmi les fils d’Aaron, à la tête de 3 700 hommes,
29 Of the Benjaminites, the kinsmen of Saul, three thousand, of whom the majority had hitherto kept their allegiance to the house of Saul.	29 et Sadoq, un jeune et habile combattant, 22 chefs de sa famille.

33 Of Zebulun fifty thousand seasoned troops, equipped for battle with all the weapons of war, to help David with singleness of purpose.	33 Des fils d’Issacar, sachant discerner les moments où Israël devait agir et la façon de le faire: 200 chefs avec leurs parents sous leurs ordres.
34 Of Naphtali a thousand commanders with whom were thirty-seven thousand men armed with shield and spear.	34 De Zabulon: 50 000 hommes entraînés et prêts au combat avec toutes sortes d’armes, des gens qui combattaient résolument.
35 Of the Danites twenty-eight thousand six hundred men equipped for battle.	35 De Nephtali: 1 000 commandants, et avec eux 37 000 hommes armés de boucliers et de lances.
36 Of Asher forty thousand seasoned troops ready for battle.	36 De Dan: 28 600 hommes prêts au combat.
37 Of the Reubenites and Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh from beyond the Jordan, one hundred and twenty thousand men armed with all the weapons of war.	37 D’Asher: 40 000 hommes entraînés au combat.
38 All these, men of war, arrayed in battle order, came to Hebron with full intent to make David king over all Israel; likewise all the rest of Israel were of a single mind to make David king.	38 Venant de Transjordanie: 120 000 hommes de Ruben, Gad et la moitié de la tribu de Manassé avec toutes sortes d’armes.
39 And they were there with David for three days, eating and drinking, for their brethren had made preparation for them.	39 Tous ces guerriers prêts au combat, vinrent spontanément pour proclamer David roi sur tout Israël; tout le reste d’Israël d’ailleurs, était d’accord pour proclamer David roi.
40 And also their neighbors, from as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, came bringing food on asses and on camels and on mules and on oxen, abundant provisions of meal, cakes of figs, clusters of raisins, and wine and oil, oxen and sheep, for there was joy in Israel.	40 Ils restèrent là pendant trois jours, prenant leurs repas et buvant avec David, car leurs parents leur avaient envoyé des vivres.
	41 D’ailleurs, du plus loin d’Issacar, de Zabulon ou de Nephtali, on leur apportait des provisions sur des ânes, des chameaux, des mulets et des bœufs: de la farine, des gâteaux de figues, des raisins secs, du vin, de l’huile, des quantités de bœufs et de moutons, car la joie régnait en Israël.
