1 Now these are the men who came to David at Ziklag, while he could not move about freely because of Saul the son of Kish; and they were among the mighty men who helped him in war.	1 Questi sono gli uomini che andarono da Davide a Ziklàg, quando era ancora bandito dalla presenza di Saul, figlio di Kis; essi erano i prodi che lo aiutavano in guerra,
2 They were bowmen, and could shoot arrows and sling stones with either the right or the left hand; they were Benjaminites, Saul's kinsmen.	2 usavano l'arco e si servivano della mano destra e della sinistra per lanciare pietre e per tirare frecce con l'arco; erano della tribù di Beniamino, fratelli di Saul:

16 And some of the men of Benjamin and Judah came to the stronghold to David.	16 Questi sono coloro che passarono il Giordano nel primo mese, mentre esso dilagava su tutte le rive e misero in fuga tutti gli abitanti delle vallate a oriente e a occidente.
17 David went out to meet them and said to them, "If you have come to me in friendship to help me, my heart will be knit to you; but if to betray me to my adversaries, although there is no wrong in my hands, then may the God of our fathers see and rebuke you."	17 Alcuni dei figli di Beniamino e di Giuda andarono da Davide fino alla fortezza.
18 Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, chief of the thirty, and he said, "We are yours, O David; and with you, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helpers! For your God helps you." Then David received them, and made them officers of his troops.	18 Questi mosse loro incontro e, presa la parola, disse loro: "Se siete venuti da me con propositi di pace per aiutarmi, sono disposto a unirmi a voi; ma se è per tradirmi e consegnarmi ai miei avversari, benché le mie mani non abbiano commesso nessun atto di violenza, lo veda il Dio dei nostri padri e lo punisca".
19 Some of the men of Manasseh deserted to David when he came with the Philistines for the battle against Saul. (Yet he did not help them, for the rulers of the Philistines took counsel and sent him away, saying, "At peril to our heads he will desert to his master Saul.")	19 Allora lo spirito investì Amasài, capo dei Trenta: "Siamo tuoi, Davide! con te, figlio di Iesse! Pace, pace a te e pace a chi ti aiuta, perché è il tuo Dio che ti aiuta". Davide li accolse e li costituì capi delle schiere.
20 As he went to Ziklag these men of Manasseh deserted to him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jedia-el, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, chiefs of thousands in Manasseh.	20 Alcuni di Manasse passarono a Davide, quando insieme ai Filistei marciava in guerra contro Saul. Egli poi non aiutò costoro, perché tenendo consiglio i prìncipi dei Filistei lo rimandarono dicendo: "A prezzo delle nostre teste, egli passerà a Saul, suo signore".
21 They helped David against the band of raiders; for they were all mighty men of valor, and were commanders in the army.	21 Mentre si dirigeva verso Ziklàg passarono a lui da Manasse: Adnach, Iozabàd, Iediaèl, Michele, Iozabàd, Eliu e Zilletai, capi di migliaia nella tribù di Manasse.
22 For from day to day men kept coming to David to help him, until there was a great army, like an army of God.	22 Costoro aiutarono Davide contro i banditi, perché erano tutti uomini valorosi e divennero capi dell'esercito.
23 These are the numbers of the divisions of the armed troops, who came to David in Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul over to him, according to the word of the LORD.	23 Ogni giorno, infatti, alcuni passavano a Davide per aiutarlo, cosicché il suo risultò un accampamento gigantesco.
24 The men of Judah bearing shield and spear were six thousand eight hundred armed troops.	24 Queste sono le cifre dei capi equipaggiati per l'esercito, che passarono a Davide in Ebron, per trasferirgli, secondo l'ordine del Signore, il regno di Saul.
25 Of the Simeonites, mighty men of valor for war, seven thousand one hundred.	25 Dei figli di Giuda, portanti scudo e lancia: seimilaottocento armati.

36 Of Asher forty thousand seasoned troops ready for battle.	36 Dei Daniti: ventottomilaseicento uomini pronti per la battaglia.
37 Of the Reubenites and Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh from beyond the Jordan, one hundred and twenty thousand men armed with all the weapons of war.	37 Di Aser: quarantamila, arruolati in un esercito, pronti per la battaglia.
38 All these, men of war, arrayed in battle order, came to Hebron with full intent to make David king over all Israel; likewise all the rest of Israel were of a single mind to make David king.	38 Della Transgiordania, cioè dei Rubeniti, dei Gaditi e della mezza tribù di Manasse: centoventimila uomini dotati di tutte le armi da guerra.
39 And they were there with David for three days, eating and drinking, for their brethren had made preparation for them.	39 Tutti costoro, guerrieri pronti a marciare, si presentarono con cuore sincero in Ebron per proclamare Davide re su tutto Israele; anche tutto il resto d'Israele era unanime nel proclamare re Davide.
40 And also their neighbors, from as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, came bringing food on asses and on camels and on mules and on oxen, abundant provisions of meal, cakes of figs, clusters of raisins, and wine and oil, oxen and sheep, for there was joy in Israel.	40 Rimasero là con Davide tre giorni mangiando e bevendo quanto i loro fratelli avevano provveduto per loro.
	41 Anche i loro vicini e persino da Issacar, da Zabulon e da Neftali, avevano portato viveri a dorso di asini, cammelli, muli e buoi, approvvigionamenti di farina, pizze di fichi secchi, uva passa, vino, olio e bestiame grosso e minuto in abbondanza, perché c'era festa in Israele.
