1 Then the king sent, and all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem were gathered to him.	1 Avendoli il re convocati, si radunarono da lui tutti gli anziani di Giuda e di Gerusalemme.
2 And the king went up to the house of the LORD, and with him all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests and the prophets, all the people, both small and great; and he read in their hearing all the words of the book of the covenant which had been found in the house of the LORD.	2 Il re poi salì al tempio di Jahvè insieme con tutti gli uomini di Giuda, con tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, con i sacerdoti, con i profeti e con tutto il popolo, piccoli e grandi, fece giungere alle loro orecchie tutte le parole del libro dell’alleanza, che era stato trovato nel tempio di Jahvè.
3 And the king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book; and all the people joined in the covenant.	3 Il re, in piedi vicino alla colonna, concluse l’alleanza innanzi a Jahvè, per seguire Jahvè, custodire i suoi comandamenti, le sue leggi e i suoi precetti con tutto il cuore e con tutta l’anima, «per mantenere le parole di questa alleanza che sono scritte in questo libro». E così tutto il popolo entrò nell’alleanza.
4 And the king commanded Hilkiah, the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the threshold, to bring out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels made for Baal, for Asherah, and for all the host of heaven; he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel.	4 Il re quindi ordinò al grande sacerdote Helkia, ai sacerdoti in seconda e ai custodi della soglia di portare fuori dall’aula di Jahvè tutte le suppellettili preparate per Baal, per il palo sacro e per tutto l’esercito del cielo. 5 And he deposed the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places at the cities of Judah and round about Jerusalem; those also who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, and the moon, and the constellations, and all the host of the heavens.	5 Allontanò i sacerdoti idolatri, che i re di Giuda avevano posto per offrire sacrifici sulle alture nella città di Giuda e nei dintorni di Gerusalemme; così coloro, che offrivano profumi a Baal, al sole, alla luna, allo zodiaco e a tutto l’esercito del cielo.
6 And he brought out the Asherah from the house of the LORD, outside Jerusalem, to the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and beat it to dust and cast the dust of it upon the graves of the common people.	6 Fece portare il palo sacro dal tempio di Jahvè, da Gerusalemme verso il torrente Cedron, dove lo bruciò e lo ridusse in cenere. Gettò la polvere poi sui sepolcri dei figli del popolo.
7 And he broke down the houses of the male cult prostitutes which were in the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the Asherah.	7 Demolì le case dei prostituti sacri, che erano nel tempio di Jahvè, dove le donne tessevano le tende di Ashera.
8 And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beer-sheba; and he broke down the high places of the gates that were at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on one's left at the gate of the city.	8 Convocò tutti i sacerdoti dalle città di Giudae profanò le alture, dove essi avevano offerto profumi, da Gheba a Bersabea. 11 And he removed the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun, at the entrance to the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathan-melech the chamberlain, which was in the precincts; and he burned the chariots of the sun with fire.	11 Eliminò i cavalli che i re di Giuda avevano offerto al sole, all’ingresso del tempio di Jahvè, vicino alla camera di Natan-Melech l’eunuco, che si trovava nei recinti. 12 And the altars on the roof of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, he pulled down and broke in pieces, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.	12 Il re infranse sulla terrazza della camera superiore di Akhaz gli altari che avevano costruito i re di Giuda e quelli che aveva costruito Manasse nei due cortili del tempio di Jahvè; li frantumò sul posto e ne gettò la polvere nel torrente Cedron.
13 And the king defiled the high places that were east of Jerusalem, to the south of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.	13 Il re profanò le alture di fronte a Gerusalemme, a destra del monte dello Sterminio, che Salomone re di Israele aveva costruito per Astarte obbrobrio dei Sidoni, per Chemosh obbrobrio di Moab e per Moloch abominio dei figli di Ammon.
14 And he broke in pieces the pillars, and cut down the Asherim, and filled their places with the bones of men.	14 Fece a pezzi le stele, tagliò i pali sacri, riempiendo il loro posto di ossa umane.
15 Moreover the altar at Bethel, the high place erected by Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, that altar with the high place he pulled down and he broke in pieces its stones, crushing them to dust; also he burned the Asherah.	15 Non solo, ma abbatté pure l’altare di Bethel, sull’altura costruita da Geroboamo figlio di Nabat, il quale aveva fatto peccare Israele, distruggendo l’ara e l’altura. Frantumò le pietre di quest’ultimo, riducendole in polvere, e bruciò il palo sacro.
16 And as Josiah turned, he saw the tombs there on the mount; and he sent and took the bones out of the tombs, and burned them upon the altar, and defiled it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who had predicted these things.	16 Ora Giosia, guardandosi intorno, vide le tombe che erano sul monte. Allora inviò a prelevarne le ossa e le bruciò sull’altare e così lo contaminò, secondo la parola di Jahvè che aveva proferito l’uomo di Dio mentre Geroboamo si trovava sull’altare, durante la festa. 17 Then he said, "What is yonder monument that I see?" And the men of the city told him, "It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and predicted these things which you have done against the altar at Bethel."	17 e disse: «Che monumento è quello che io vedo?» Gli risposero gli uomini della città: «È il sepolcro dell’uomo di Dio, che era venuto da Giuda e aveva predetto ciò che tu hai fatto sull’altare».
18 And he said, "Let him be; let no man move his bones." So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet who came out of Samaria.	18 Quegli allora ordinò: «Lasciatelo stare; nessuno muova le sue ossa». Così lasciarono illese le sue ossa, insieme con quelle del profeta che era venuto da Samaria.
19 And all the shrines also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which kings of Israel had made, provoking the LORD to anger, Josiah removed; he did to them according to all that he had done at Bethel.	19 Giosia eliminò anche tutti i santuari delle alture, che si trovavano nella città di Samaria e che i re di Israele avevano edificato, provocando a sdegno Jahvè. Egli fece a essi tutto ciò che aveva fatto a Bethel.
20 And he slew all the priests of the high places who were there, upon the altars, and burned the bones of men upon them. Then he returned to Jerusalem.	20 Immolò sugli altari tutti i sacerdoti delle alture che C'erano, e vi bruciò ossa umane sopra. Poi fece ritorno a Gerusalemme.
21 And the king commanded all the people, "Keep the passover to the LORD your God, as it is written in this book of the covenant."	21 Il re diede a tutto il popolo questo comando: «Celebrate la Pasqua di Jabve vostro Dio, come è scritto in questo. libro dell’alleanza».
22 For no such passover had been kept since the days of the judges who judged Israel, or during all the days of the kings of Israel or of the kings of Judah;	22 In realtà non si era celebrato una Pasqua simile dal tempo dei Giudici; i quali avevano giudicato Israele, e per tutto il periodo dei re di Israele e dei re di Giuda.
23 but in the eighteenth year of King Josiah this passover was kept to the LORD in Jerusalem.	23 Solo nell’anno decimottavo del re Giosia fu celebrata questa Pasqua di Jahvè a Gerusalemme.
24 Moreover Josiah put away the mediums and the wizards and the teraphim and the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might establish the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.	24 Giosia eliminò anche le pitonesse, gli indovini, i terafim, gli idoli e tutti gli abomini che erano apparsi sul suolo di Giuda e di Gerusalemme; così mise in pratica le parole della legge, scritte nel libro che il sacerdote Helkia aveva trovato nel tempio di Jahvè.
25 Before him there was no king like him, who turned to the LORD with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; nor did any like him arise after him.	25 Prima di lui non C’era stato un re che, come lui, si convertì a Jahvè con tutto il cuore, con tutta l’anima e con tutta la forza, secondo tutta la legge di Mosè; così pure dopo di lui non ce ne fu uno come lui.
26 Still the LORD did not turn from the fierceness of his great wrath, by which his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked him.	26 Tuttavia Jahvè non sì ritrasse dalla vampa stragrande della sua ira, di cui era acceso contro Giuda, a causa delle prevaricazioni con cui Manasse lo aveva provocato.
27 And the LORD said, "I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and I will cast off this city which I have chosen, Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there."	27 Perciò Jahvè decise: «Allontanerò dal mio cospetto anche Giuda come ho allontanato Israele e rigetterò questa città che ho scelto, cioè Gerusalemme, e il tempio di cui avevo detto: “Ivi sarà il mio nome!”».
28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?	28 Il resto degli atti di Giosia e tutto ciò che ha fatto forse non sono cose scritte nel libro degli Annali dei re di Giuda?
29 In his days Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt went up to the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates. King Josiah went to meet him; and Pharaoh Neco slew him at Megiddo, when he saw him.	29 Durante la sua vita il Faraone Nechao, re d’Egitto, mosse verso il re di Assiria, sul fiume Eufrate. Il re Giosia gli andò incontro, ma il Faraone lo uccise al primo scontro.
30 And his servants carried him dead in a chariot from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's stead.	30 Allora i suoi servitori lo trasportarono cadavere su di un carro e lo portarono da Meghiddo a Gerusalemme dove lo seppellirono nella sua tomba. 31 Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.	31 Joakhaz aveva ventitre anni, quando divenne re e regnò, a Gerusalemme, tre mesi. Sua madre si chiamava Khamutal figlia di Geremia, da Libna.
32 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.	32 Egli fece il male agli occhi di Jahvè come avevano fatto i suoi padri.
33 And Pharaoh Neco put him in bonds at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem, and laid upon the land a tribute of a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.	33 Il Faraone Nechao lo fece prigioniero a Ribla, nel paese di Hamat, impedendogli così di governare a Gerusalemme, e impose al paese un tributo di cento talenti d’argento e dieci talenti d’oro.
34 And Pharaoh Neco made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the place of Josiah his father, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. But he took Jehoahaz away; and he came to Egypt, and died there.	34 Il Faraone Nechao costituì re Eliakim figlio i Giosia, al posto di suo padre Giosia, e gli mutò il nome in Joakim. Poi catturò Joakhaz e lo condusse in Egitto, dove questi morì.
35 And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh, but he taxed the land to give the money according to the command of Pharaoh. He exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, from every one according to his assessment, to give it to Pharaoh Neco.	35 Joakim consegnò l’argento e l’oro al Faraone; dovette però gravare il paese per dare al Faraone il denaro richiesto. Da ciascuno fra il popolò della terra, secondo il suo estimo, riscosse argento e oro per consegnarlo al Faraone Nechao.
36 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Zebidah the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.	36 Joakim aveva venticinque: anni quando divenne re e regnò undici anni, a. Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Zebida figlia di Pedaia, da Rama.
37 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.	37 Egli fece il male agli occhi di Jahvè, proprio come avevano fatto i suoi padri.
