1 When Ish-bosheth, Saul's son, heard that Abner had died at Hebron, his courage failed, and all Israel was dismayed.	1 Als Ischbaal, der Sohn Sauls, hörte, dass Abner in Hebron ums Leben gekommen war, verlor er allen Mut und ganz Israel war bestürzt.
2 Now Saul's son had two men who were captains of raiding bands; the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, sons of Rimmon a man of Benjamin from Be-eroth (for Be-eroth also is reckoned to Benjamin;	2 Der Sohn Sauls hatte zwei Männer als Truppenführer; der eine hieß Baana, der andere Rechab; sie waren Söhne Rimmons aus Beerot, Benjaminiter; denn auch Beerot wird zu Benjamin gerechnet.
3 the Be-erothites fled to Gittaim, and have been sojourners there to this day).	3 Die Beerotiter sind nämlich einst nach Gittajim geflohen und leben dort bis zum heutigen Tag als Fremde.
4 Jonathan, the son of Saul, had a son who was crippled in his feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel; and his nurse took him up, and fled; and, as she fled in her haste, he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.	4 Jonatan, der Sohn Sauls, hatte einen Sohn, der an beiden Füßen gelähmt war. Er war fünf Jahre alt gewesen, als die Nachricht vom Tod Sauls und Jonatans aus Jesreel eintraf; seine Amme hatte ihn aufgehoben, um mit ihm zu fliehen, aber in der Eile der Flucht war er ihr vom Arm gefallen; seitdem war er gelähmt. Sein Name war Merib-Baal.
5 Now the sons of Rimmon the Be-erothite, Rechab and Baanah, set out, and about the heat of the day they came to the house of Ish-bosheth, as he was taking his noonday rest.	5 Rechab und Baana, die Söhne Rimmons aus Beerot, machten sich auf den Weg und kamen um die heißeste Zeit des Tages zum Haus Ischbaals, der eben seine Mittagsruhe hielt.
6 And behold, the doorkeeper of the house had been cleaning wheat, but she grew drowsy and slept; so Rechab and Baanah his brother slipped in.	6 Die Türhüterin des Hauses war beim Weizenreinigen schläfrig geworden und eingeschlafen;
7 When they came into the house, as he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him. They took his head, and went by the way of the Arabah all night,	7 so konnten Rechab und sein Bruder Baana unbemerkt in das Haus eindringen. Ischbaal lag in seinem Schlafzimmer auf dem Bett. Sie schlugen ihn tot, hieben ihm den Kopf ab und nahmen den Kopf mit. Sie gingen die ganze Nacht hindurch auf dem Weg durch die Araba,
8 and brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David at Hebron. And they said to the king, "Here is the head of Ish-bosheth, the son of Saul, your enemy, who sought your life; the LORD has avenged my lord the king this day on Saul and on his offspring."	8 brachten den Kopf Ischbaals zu David nach Hebron und sagten zum König: Da ist der Kopf deines Feindes Ischbaal, des Sohnes Sauls, der dir nach dem Leben trachtete. Aber der Herr hat heute unserem Herrn, dem König, Rache an Saul und seinen Nachkommen verschafft.
9 But David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Be-erothite, "As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my life out of every adversity,	9 David erwiderte Rechab und seinem Bruder Baana, den Söhnen Rimmons aus Beerot: So wahr der Herr lebt, der mich aus aller Not befreit hat:
10 when one told me, 'Behold, Saul is dead,' and thought he was bringing good news, I seized him and slew him at Ziklag, which was the reward I gave him for his news.	10 Den, der mir die Nachricht gebracht hat: Saul ist tot!, und der gemeint hat, ein Freudenbote zu sein, den habe ich in Ziklag ergreifen und umbringen lassen; so gab ich ihm den verdienten Botenlohn.
11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous man in his own house upon his bed, shall I not now require his blood at your hand, and destroy you from the earth?"	11 Und wenn nun ruchlose Männer einen rechtschaffenen Mann in seinem Haus auf seinem Bett erschlagen haben, sollte ich dann nicht sein Blut von euch zurückfordern und euch von der Erde austilgen?
12 And David commanded his young men, and they killed them, and cut off their hands and feet, and hanged them beside the pool at Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth, and buried it in the tomb of Abner at Hebron.	12 Und David gab seinen Leuten den Befehl, sie zu töten; sie taten es. Sie schlugen ihnen Hände und Füße ab und hängten die Leichen am Teich von Hebron auf. Den Kopf Ischbaals aber nahmen sie und begruben ihn im Grab Abners in Hebron.
