Siracide 21

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Figliuolo, hai peccato? Non tornare a peccare, e per i [peccati] di prima prega che ti sian rimessi.	1 My son, if you have sinned, do so no more, and for your past sins pray to be forgiven.
2 Fuggi dal peccato, come dalla faccia d'un serpente; se ti accosterai, ti morderà.	2 Flee from sin as from a serpent. that will bite you if you go near it; Its teeth are lion's teeth, destroying the souls of men.
3 Denti di leone sono i tuoi denti, che tolgon la vita agli uomini.	3 Every offense is a two-edged sword; when it cuts, there can be no healing.
4 Quasi spada a due tagli è ogni iniquità: alla sua ferita non c'è rimedio.	4 Violence and arrogance wipe out wealth; so too a proud man's home is destroyed.
5 L'insolenza e l'ingiuria possono annientare una fortuna, e la casa più ricca sarà annientata dalla superbia: cosi la fortuna del superbo sarà sradicata.	5 Prayer from a poor man's lips is heard at once, and justice is quickly granted him.
6 La preghiera del povero [sale], dalla bocca [di costui], sino al suo orecchio, e il giudizio lo colpirà presto.	6 He who hates correction walks the sinner's path, but he who fears the LORD repents in his heart.

8 Si conosce da lontano il potente per l'audacia della lingua, e l'uomo sensato sa sfuggirgli.	8 He who builds his house with another's money is collecting stones for his funeral mound.
9 Chi fabbrica la sua casa a spese d'altri, è come chi raccoglie le sue pietre per l'inverno.	9 A band of criminals is like a bundle of tow; they will end in a flaming fire.

13 e la perfezione del timor di Dio è la sapienza e il senno.	13 A wise man's knowledge wells up in a flood, and his counsel, like a living spring;
14 Non acquisterà sapere chi non è prudente nel bene;	14 A fool's mind is like a broken jar-- no knowledge at all can it hold.
15 ma v'è una prudenza che abbonda nel male, e non v'ha senno là dove c'è l'amarezza.	15 When an intelligent man hears words of wisdom, he approves them and adds to them; The wanton hears them with scorn and casts them behind his back.
16 il sapere del savio cresce come un'inondazione, e il suo consiglio rimane come una fonte di vita.	16 A fool's chatter is like a load on a journey, but there is charm to be found upon the lips of the wise.
17 cuore dello stolto è come un vaso fesso, e non può ritenere nessun sapere.	17 The views of a prudent man are sought in an assembly, and his words are considered with care.
18 Qualunque parola saggia che ascolti l'uomo intelligente, la loda e la fa sua; l'ascolta un libertino, e gli dispiace, e se la gitta dietro le spalle.	18 Like a house in ruins is wisdom to a fool; the stupid man knows it only as inscrutable words.

21 Come una casa diroccata, così è la sapienza per lo stolto, e la scienza dell'insipiente son parole inintelligibili.	21 Like a chain of gold is learning to a wise man, like a bracelet on his right arm.
22 [Quasi] ceppi a' piedi è l'istruzione per gli sciocchi, e quasi manette alla mano destra.	22 The fool steps boldly into a house, while the well-bred man remains outside;
23 Lo stolto, ridendo, alza la voce; ma l'uomo prudente sorride appena pian piano.	23 A boor peeps through the doorway of a house, but a cultured man keeps his glance cast down.
24 [Com'] un ornamento d'oro è l'istruzione per l'uomo prudente, e come un braccialetto al braccio destro.	24 It is rude for one to listen at a door; a cultured man would be overwhelmed by the disgrace of it.
25 Il piede dello stolto è pronto [a entrar] in casa d'altri, ma l'uomo sperimentato si perita in faccia al potente.	25 The lips of the impious talk of what is not their concern, but the words of the prudent are carefully weighed.
26 L'insensato spia dalla finestra nella casa, ma l'uomo educato se ne sta fuori.	26 Fools' thoughts are in their mouths, wise men's words are in their hearts.
27 È maleducazione da parte d'uno l'origliare alla porta, e il prudente sdegnerà [tale] infamia.	27 When a godless man curses his adversary he really curses himself.
