Hebrews 5

1 For every high priest, having been taken from among men, is appointed on behalf of men toward the things which pertain to God, so that he may offer gifts and sacrifices on behalf of sins;	1 Veramente ogni pontefice, ricevuto dalli uomini, per tutti è ordinato in quelle cose che si convengono a Dio, perchè offerisca doni e sacrificii per le peccata.
2 he is able to commiserate with those who are ignorant and who wander astray, because he himself is also encompassed by infirmity.	2 Il quale possa (perdonare e) condolere a coloro che errano ignorantemente; chè egli è circondato di fievolezza;
3 And because of this, he also must make such offerings for sins even for himself, in the same manner as for the people.	3 e però, sì come offerisce per li peccati del popolo, così dee offerire (sacrificio) per i suoi medesimi.
4 Neither does anyone take up this honor himself, but rather he who is called by God, just as Aaron was.	4 Nè niuno prende quello onore di sè medesimo, ma quello ch' è chiamato da Dio, sì come fu Aaron.
5 Thus, even Christ did not glorify himself, so as to become High Priest, but instead, it was God who said to him: “You are my Son. Today I have begotten you.”	5 Così Cristo non testimoniò per essere fatto pontefice, ma (fu eletto da) colui che gli favellò (e dissegli): tu se' il mio figliuolo, io oggi ti generai.
6 And similarly, he says in another place: “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.”	6 Sì come dice in altro luogo: tu se' sacerdote in eterno, secondo l'ordine di Melchisedec.
7 It is Christ who, in the days of his flesh, with a strong cry and tears, offered prayers and supplications to the One who was able to save him from death, and who was heard because of his reverence.	7 Il quale, ne' di della sua carne, offerì preci e supplicazioni (e offerte), con lacrime e con grande chiamamento, a colui che il potea fare salvo dalla morte (della croce); e così facendo fu esaudito per la sua reverenza.
8 And although, certainly, he is the Son of God, he learned obedience by the things that he suffered.	8 E veramente, conciosia cosa ch' egli sia Figliuolo di Dio, imprese di quelle cose ch' egli sostenette con obbedienza.
9 And having reached his consummation, he was made, for all who are obedient to him, the cause of eternal salvation,	9 Sì compiuto fu fatto a tutti li obbedienti a sè causa di salute eternale.
10 having been called by God to be the High Priest, according to the order of Melchizedek.	10 E fu chiamato da Dio pontefice secondo l' ordine di Melchisedec.
11 Our message about him is great, and difficult to explain when speaking, because you have been made feeble when listening.	11 Del qual grande parlamento è appo noi, e [non] interpretabile a dicere; imperò che siete fatti deboli di intelletto a udire.
12 For even though it is the time when you ought to be teachers, you are still lacking, so that you must be taught the things that are the basic elements of the Word of God, and so you have been made like those who are in need of milk, and not of solid food.	12 E conciosia cosa che voi dovereste essere maestri per il tempo, ancora abbisognate d'essere ammaestrati (per altrui), quali sieno le lettere del cominciamento del parlare di Dio (imperò che ognuno che del latte è partefice, egli è capace del sermone della giustizia); ma voi siete fatti tali, che vi bisogna il latte, e non cibo solido.
13 For anyone who is still feeding on milk is still unskillful in the Word of Justice; for he is like an infant.	13 E ogni uomo che prende parte di latte, sì è parvolo, e senza parte di sermone della giustizia.
14 But solid food is for those who are mature, for those who, by practice, have sharpened their mind, so as to discern good from evil.	14 Ma il cibo solido si è de' perfetti; di quelli che per la costumanza hanno (argomento e) senno di discernere il bene dal male.
