1 Corinthians 10

1 For I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and they all went across the sea.	1 {Não quero que ignoreis, irmãos}, que os nossos pais estiveram todos debaixo da nuvem e que todos atravessaram o mar;
2 And in Moses, they all were baptized, in the cloud and in the sea.	2 todos foram batizados em Moisés, na nuvem e no mar;
3 And they all ate of the same spiritual food.	3 todos comeram do mesmo alimento espiritual;
4 And they all drank of the same spiritual drink. And so, they all were drinking of the spiritual rock seeking to obtain them; and that rock was Christ.	4 todos beberam da mesma bebida espiritual {pois todos bebiam da pedra espiritual que os seguia; e essa pedra era Cristo}.
5 But with most of them, God was not well-pleased. For they were struck down in the desert.	5 Não obstante, a maioria deles desgostou a Deus, pois seus cadáveres cobriram o deserto.
6 Now these things were done as an example for us, so that we might not desire evil things, just as they desired.	6 Estas coisas aconteceram para nos servir de exemplo, a fim de não cobiçarmos coisas más, como eles as cobiçaram.
7 And so, do not take part in idolatry, as some of them did, just as it was written: “The people sat down to eat and to drink, and then they rose up to amuse themselves.”	7 Nem vos torneis idólatras, como alguns deles, conforme está escrito: O povo sentou-se para comer e para beber, e depois levantou-se para se divertir {Ex 32,6}.
8 And let us not commit fornication, as some of them fornicated, and so twenty-three thousand fell on one day.	8 Nem nos entreguemos à impureza como alguns deles se entregaram, e morreram num só dia vinte e três mil.
9 And let us not tempt Christ, as some of them tempted, and so they perished by serpents.	9 Nem tentemos o Senhor, como alguns deles o tentaram, e pereceram mordidos pelas serpentes.
10 And you should not murmur, as some of them murmured, and so they perished by the destroyer.	10 Nem murmureis, como murmuraram alguns deles, e foram mortos pelo exterminador.
11 Now all of these things happened to them as an example, and so they have been written for our correction, because the final age has fallen upon us.	11 Todas estas desgraças lhes aconteceram para nosso exemplo; foram escritas para advertência nossa, para nós que tocamos o final dos tempos.
12 And so, whosoever considers himself to be standing, let him be careful not to fall.	12 Portanto, quem pensa estar de pé veja que não caia.
13 Temptation should not take hold of you, except what is human. For God is faithful, and he will not permit you to be tempted beyond your ability. Instead, he will effect his Providence, even during temptation, so that you may be able to bear it.	13 Não vos sobreveio tentação alguma que ultrapassasse as forças humanas. Deus é fiel: não permitirá que sejais tentados além das vossas forças, mas com a tentação ele vos dará os meios de suportá-la e sairdes dela.
14 Because of this, most beloved of mine, flee from the worship of idols.	14 Portanto, caríssimos meus, fugi da idolatria.
15 Since I am speaking to those who are prudent, judge what I say for yourselves.	15 Falo como a pessoas sensatas; julgai vós mesmos o que digo.
16 The cup of benediction that we bless, is it not a communion in the Blood of Christ? And the bread that we break, is it not a participation in the Body of the Lord?	16 O cálice de bênção, que benzemos, não é a comunhão do sangue de Cristo? E o pão, que partimos, não é a comunhão do corpo de Cristo?
17 Through the one bread, we, though many, are one body: all of us who are partakers of the one bread.	17 Uma vez que há um único pão, nós, embora sendo muitos, formamos um só corpo, porque todos nós comungamos do mesmo pão.
18 Consider Israel, according to the flesh. Are not those who eat from the sacrifices partakers of the altar?	18 Considerai Israel segundo a carne: não entram em comunhão com o altar os que comem as vítimas?
19 What is next? Should I say that what is immolated to idols is anything? Or that the idol is anything?	19 Que quero afirmar com isto? Que a carne sacrificada aos ídolos ou o próprio ídolo são alguma coisa?
20 But the things that the Gentiles immolate, they immolate to demons, and not to God. And I do not want you to become partakers with demons.	20 Não! As coisas que os pagãos sacrificam, sacrificam-nas a demônios e não a Deus. E eu não quero que tenhais comunhão com os demônios.
21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons. You cannot be partakers of the table of the Lord, and partakers of the table of demons.	21 Não podeis beber ao mesmo tempo o cálice do Senhor e o cálice dos demônios. Não podeis participar ao mesmo tempo da mesa do Senhor e da mesa dos demônios.
22 Or should we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he is? All is lawful to me, but not all is expedient.	22 Ou queremos provocar a ira do Senhor? Acaso somos mais fortes do que ele?
23 All is lawful to me, but not all is edifying.	23 Tudo é permitido, mas nem tudo é oportuno. Tudo é permitido, mas nem tudo edifica.
24 Let no one seek for himself, but for others.	24 Ninguém busque o seu interesse, mas o do próximo.
25 Whatever is sold in the market, you may eat, without asking questions for the sake of conscience.	25 Comei de tudo o que se vende no açougue, sem indagar de coisa alguma por motivo de consciência.
26 “The earth and all its fullness belong to the Lord.”	26 Do Senhor é a terra e tudo que ela encerra.
27 If you are invited by any unbelievers, and you are willing to go, you may eat whatever is set before you, without asking questions for the sake of conscience.	27 Se algum infiel vos convidar e quiserdes ir, comei de tudo o que se vos puser diante sem indagar de coisa alguma por motivo de consciência.
28 But if anyone says, “This has been sacrificed to idols,” do not eat it, for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience.	28 Mas se alguém disser: Isto foi sacrificado aos ídolos, não o comais, em atenção àquele que o advertiu e por motivo de consciência.
29 But I am referring to the conscience of the other person, not to yours. For why should my liberty be judged by the conscience of another?	29 Dizendo consciência, refiro-me não à tua, mas à do outro. Com efeito, por que razão seria regulada a minha liberdade pela consciência alheia?
30 If I partake with thanksgiving, why should I be slandered over that for which I give thanks?	30 Se eu como com ações de graças, por que serei eu censurado por causa do alimento pelo qual rendo graças?
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever else you may do, do everything for the glory of God.	31 Portanto, quer comais quer bebais ou façais qualquer outra coisa, fazei tudo para a glória de Deus.
32 Be without offense toward the Jews, and toward the Gentiles, and toward the Church of God,	32 Não vos torneis causa de escândalo, nem para os judeus, nem para os gentios, nem para a Igreja de Deus.
33 just as I also, in all things, please everyone, not seeking what is best for myself, but what is best for many others, so that they may be saved.	33 Fazei como eu: em todas as circunstâncias procuro agradar a todos. Não busco os meus interesses próprios, mas os interesses dos outros, para que todos sejam salvos.
