1 And the Pharisees and some of the scribes, arriving from Jerusalem, gathered together before him.	1 Es fanden sich bei ihm die Pharisäer und einige Schriftgelehrte ein, die von Jerusalem kamen
2 And when they had seen certain ones from his disciples eating bread with common hands, that is, with unwashed hands, they disparaged them.	2 und bemerkten, daß von seinen Jüngern einige mit unreinen, das heißt mit ungewaschenen Händen das Essen nahmen.
3 For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, do not eat without repeatedly washing their hands, holding to the tradition of the elders.	3 Essen doch die Pharisäer wie alle Juden nur dann, wenn sie, in strenger Beachtung der Überlieferung der Alten, durch gehöriges Abspülen die Hände gewaschen haben.
4 And when returning from the market, unless they wash, they do not eat. And there are many other things which have been handed down to them to observe: the washings of cups, and pitchers, and bronze containers, and beds.	4 Auch wenn sie vom Markte kommen, essen sie nicht, ohne sich gewaschen zu haben, und noch vieles andere gibt es, was sie aufgrund der Überlieferung beobachten, so das Abspülen von Bechern und Krügen und Kupfergeschirr [und Liegepolstern].
5 And so the Pharisees and the scribes questioned him: “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but they eat bread with common hands?”	5 Da fragten ihn die Pharisäer und Schriftgelehrten: "Warum wandeln deine Jünger nicht nach der Überlieferung der Alten, sondern nehmen das Essen mit unreinen Händen?"
6 But in response, he said to them: “So well did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, just as it has been written: ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.	6 Er antwortete ihnen: "Treffend hat Isaias von euch Heuchlern geweissagt, wie geschrieben steht: "Dieses Volk ehrt mich mit den Lippen, ihr Herz aber ist fern von mir.
7 And in vain do they worship me, teaching the doctrines and precepts of men.’	7 Vergeblich aber verehren sie mich; ihre Lehrsprüche, die sie vortragen, sind nichts als Satzungen von Menschen" (Is 29,13).
8 For abandoning the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men, to the washing of pitchers and cups. And you do many other things similar to these.”	8 Ihr laßt das Gebot Gottes außer acht und haltet euch an die Überlieferung der Menschen. [Das Waschen der Krüge und Becher und vieles andere besorgt ihr voll Eifer.]"
9 And he said to them: “You effectively nullify the precept of God, so that you may observe your own tradition.	9 Und er sprach zu ihnen: "Gar fein hebt ihr das Gebot Gottes auf, um eure Überlieferung zu halten.
10 For Moses said: ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever will have cursed father or mother, let him die a death.’	10 Denn Moses hat gesagt: "Ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter" und: "Wer Vater oder Mutter schmäht, soll des Todes sterben" (2Mos 20,12; 2Mos 21,17.)
11 But you say, ‘If a man will have said to his father or mother: Korban, (which is a gift) whatever is from me will be to your benefit,’	11 Ihr aber sagt: Wenn einer zu Vater oder Mutter sagt: Korban, das heißt Tempelopfer, sei, was dir von mir zukommen soll,
12 then you do not release him to do anything for his father or mother,	12 so laßt ihr ihn nichts mehr tun für Vater oder Mutter
13 rescinding the word of God through your tradition, which you have handed down. And you do many other similar things in this way.”	13 und hebt somit das Wort Gottes auf mit eurer Überlieferung, die ihr weitergegeben habt; und dergleichen tut ihr noch vieles."
14 And again, calling the crowd to him, he said to them: “Listen to me, all of you, and understand.	14 Und er rief wieder das Volk zu sich und sprach zu ihnen: "Hört mich alle und versteht!
15 There is nothing from outside a man which, by entering into him, is able to defile him. But the things which procede from a man, these are what pollute a man.	15 Nicht, was von außen in den Menschen hineingeht, kann ihn verunreinigen; sondern was vom Menschen herauskommt, verunreinigt den Menschen.
16 Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”	16 Wer Ohren hat zu hören, der höre!"
17 And when he had entered into the house, away from the crowd, his disciples questioned him about the parable.	17 Als er nun vom Volke weg nach Hause kam, fragten ihn seine Jünger nach dem Gleichnis.
18 And he said to them: “So, are you also without prudence? Do you not understand that everything entering to a man from outside is not able to pollute him?	18 Da sprach er zu ihnen: "Seid denn auch ihr ohne Verständnis? Versteht ihr nicht, daß alles, was von außen in den Menschen hineingeht, ihn nicht verunreinigen kann,
19 For it does not enter into his heart, but into the gut, and it exits into the sewer, purging all foods.”	19 weil es nicht in sein Herz hineingeht, sondern in den Magen, und in den Abort hinausgeht?"; So erklärte er alle Speisen für rein
20 “But,” he said “the things which go out from a man, these pollute a man.	20 und sagte: "Was aus dem Menschen herauskommt, das verunreinigte den Menschen.
21 For from within, from the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,	21 Denn von innen, aus dem Herzen der Menschen, kommen die bösen Gedanken, Unzucht, Diebstahl, Mord,
22 thefts, avarice, wickedness, deceitfulness, homosexuality, an evil eye, blasphemy, self-exaltation, foolishness.	22 Ehebruch, Habsucht, Bosheit, Hinterlist, Ausschweifung, böser Blick, Lästerung, Hochmut und Maßlosigkeit.
23 All these evils procede from within and pollute a man.”	23 All dieses Böse kommt von innen heraus und verunreinigt den Menschen."
24 And rising up, he went from there to the area of Tyre and Sidon. And entering into a house, he intended no one to know about it, but he was not able to remain hidden.	24 Er brach auf und zog von dort in das Gebiet von Tyrus und Sidon; er ging in ein Haus und wollte, daß es niemand erfahre, aber er konnte nicht verborgen bleiben.
25 For a woman whose daughter had an unclean spirit, as soon as she heard about him, entered and fell prostrate at his feet.	25 Vielmehr kam sehr bald eine Frau, die von ihm gehört hatte und deren Tochter einen unreinen Geist hatte, und fiel ihm zu Füßen.
26 For the woman was a Gentile, by birth a Syro-Phoenician. And she petitioned him, so that he would cast the demon from her daughter.	26 Die Frau war eine Hellenin, aus Syrophönizien stammend, und sie bat ihn, er möchte den Dämon austreiben aus ihrer Tochter.
27 And he said to her: “First allow the sons to have their fill. For it is not good to take away the bread of the sons and throw it to the dogs.”	27 Er sprach zu ihr: "Laß zuerst die Kinder satt werden; denn es ist nicht recht, das Brot der Kinder zu nehmen und den jungen Hunden vorzuwerfen."
28 But she responded by saying to him: “Certainly, Lord. Yet the young dogs also eat, under the table, from the crumbs of the children.”	28 Sie aber antwortete ihm: "Doch, Herr! Auch die jungen Hunde unter dem Tisch fressen von den Brosamen der Kinder."
29 And he said to her, “Because of this saying, go; the demon has gone out of your daughter.”	29 Da sprach er zu ihr: "Um dieses Wortes willen geh hin; der Dämon ist ausgefahren aus deiner Tochter."
30 And when she had gone to her house, she found the girl lying on the bed; and the demon had gone away.	30 Als sie nach Hause kam, fand sie das Kind auf dem Bette liegen und den Dämon ausgefahren.
31 And again, departing from the borders of Tyre, he went by way of Sidon to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the area of the Ten Cities.	31 Er verließ das Gebiet von Tyrus wieder und kam über Sidon an den galiläischen See, mitten in das Gebiet der Dekapolis.
32 And they brought someone who was deaf and mute to him. And they begged him, so that he would lay his hand upon him.	32 Da brachten sie einen Taubstummen zu ihm und baten ihn, er möge ihm die Hand auflegen.
33 And taking him away from the crowd, he put his fingers into his ears; and spitting, he touched his tongue.	33 Er nahm ihn vom Volke weg auf die Seite, steckte seine Finger in seine Ohren, berührte seine Zunge mit Speichel,
34 And gazing up to heaven, he groaned and said to him: “Ephphatha,” which is, “Be opened.”	34 sah zum Himmel auf, seufzte und sprach zu ihm: "Ephphatha", das heißt "Öffne dich!"
35 And immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was released, and he spoke correctly.	35 Sogleich öffneten sich seine Ohren, das Band seiner Zunge wurde gelöst, und er redete richtig.
36 And he instructed them not to tell anyone. But as much as he instructed them, so much more did they preach about it.	36 Und er gebot ihnen, es niemand zu sagen. Doch ob er ihnen auch noch so gebot, sie machten es um so eifriger bekannt.
37 And so much more did they wonder, saying: “He has done all things well. He has caused both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”	37 Sie waren ganz und gar außer sich und sagten: "Vortrefflich hat er alles gemacht: die Tauben macht er hören und die Stummen reden."
