Zechariah 8

1 And the word of the Lord of hosts came, saying:	1 Fu rivolta la parola di Jahvè degli eserciti:
2 Thus says the Lord of hosts: I have been zealous for Zion with a great zeal, and with a great indignation have I been zealous for her.	2 «Così dice Jahvè degli eserciti: “Io ardo per Sion di grande gelosia e di grande sdegno ardo per lei!”.
3 Thus says the Lord of hosts: I have been turned back towards Zion, and I will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And Jerusalem will be called: “The City of Truth,” and “The Mountain of the Lord of Hosts, the Sanctified Mountain.”	3 Così dice Jahvè: “Io ritorno j a Sion e abito in mezzo a Gerusalemme; Geru' salemme si chiamerà: “la città fedele e il monte di Jahvè degli eserciti ‘il monte santo”.
4 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Then elderly men and elderly women will dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man will be with his walking stick in his hand, because of the multitude of days.	4 Così dice Jahvè degli eserciti: “Ancora ci saranno vecchi e vecchie seduti nella piazza di Gerusalemme, ciascuno con il bastone in mano per la grande età.
5 And the streets of the city will be filled with toddlers and children, playing in its streets.	5 E le piazze della città saranno piene di fanciulli e fanciulle che. giocheranno sulle sue piazze”.
6 Thus says the Lord of hosts: If it seems difficult in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, could it indeed be difficult in my eyes, says the Lord of hosts?	6 Così dice Jahvè degli eserciti: “Se ciò è prodigioso agli occhi dei superstiti di questo popolo in questi giorni prodigioso anche ai miei occhi? Oracolo di Jahvè degli eserciti!”.
7 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the land of the East, and from the land of the setting of the sun.	7 Così dice Jahvè degli eserciti: “Ecco, io salvo il mio popolo dal paese del levante e dal paese del tramonto del sole.
8 And I will lead them, and they will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And they will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in justice.	8 Li condurrò ad abitare entro Gerusalemme: saranno il mio popolo e io sarò il loro Dio in fedeltà e rettitudine”.
9 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Let your hands be strengthened, you who, in those days, are listening to these words by the mouth of the prophets, in the day that the house of the Lord of hosts has been founded, so that the temple may be built.	9 Così dice Jahvè degli eserciti: “Siano forti le vostre mani, o voi che in questi giorni udite queste parole dalla bocca dei profeti: cioè nel giorno in cui si pongono le fondamenta della casa di Jahvè degli eserciti, perché il tempio sia costruito.
10 Indeed, before those days, there was no pay for men, nor was there pay for beasts of burden, and neither was there peace for those entering, nor for those exiting, because of the tribulation. And I had dismissed all men, each one against his neighbor.	10 Poiché: prima di questi giorni non c’era guadagno per l’uomo né c’era guadagno per la bestia, e per chi andava e veniva non c’era pace a causa dello straniero; io allora muovevo tutti gli uomini l’un contro l’altro.
11 But now, I will not act towards the remnant of this people according to the former days, says the Lord of hosts.	11 Ma ora: io non sono più come nei giorni passati verso il resto di questo popolo — oracolo di Jahvè degli eserciti, —
12 But there will be a seed of peace: the vine will give her fruit, and the earth will give her seedlings, and the heavens will give their dew. And I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.	12 Poiché il suo seme è sicuro, la vigna darà il suo frutto e la terra darà il suo prodotto e il cielo darà la sua rugiada. E darò in possesso al resto di questo popolo tutte queste cose.
13 And this shall be: just as you were a curse among the Gentiles, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid. Let your hands be strengthened.	13 E avverrà che, come voi eravate una maledizione tra le genti, casa di Giuda e casa di Israele, così io vi salverò e sarete una benedizione. Non temete! Siano forti le vostre mani!”.
14 For thus says the Lord of hosts: Just as I intended to afflict you, when your fathers had provoked me to wrath, says the Lord,	14 Poiché così dice Jahvè degli eserciti: “Come io avevo deciso di fare la vostra rovina quando i vostri padri mi provocarono all’ira — dice Jahvè degli eserciti — e non me ne sono pentito,
15 and I did not show mercy, so have I turned back, thinking in these days to do good to the house of Judah and to Jerusalem. Do not be afraid.	15 così al contrario ho deciso in questo tempo di fare il bene di Gerusalemme e della casa di Giuda. Non temete!
16 Therefore, these are the words that you shall do: Speak the truth, each one to his neighbor. With truth and a judgment of peace, judge at your gates.	16 Queste sono le parole che dovete eseguire: Parlate con sincerità l’uno con l’altro e giudizi di pace proferite alle vostre porte.
17 And let not anyone think up evil against his friend in your hearts. And do not choose to swear falsely. For all these are things that I hate, says the Lord.	17 Non meditate nei vostri cuori l’uno la rovina dell’altro; non amate il giuramento falso perché tutte queste sono le cose che odio. — Oracolo di Jahvè!”»
18 And the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying:	18 Fu rivolta a me la parola di Jahvè degli eserciti:
19 Thus says the Lord of hosts: The fast of the fourth, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth will be for the house of Judah in joy and gladness and with bright solemnities. So then, love truth and peace.	19 «Così dice Jahvè degli eserciti: “Il digiuno del quarto mese, del quinto, del settimo e del decimo sarà cambiato pei la casa di Giuda in gaudio e gioia e liete solennità: ma voi abbiate cara la sincerità e la pace”.
20 Thus says the Lord of hosts, then the people may arrive and dwell in many cities,	20 Così dice Jahvè degli eserciti: “Verranno ancora popoli e gli abitanti di molte città
21 and the inhabitants may hurry, one saying to another: “Let us go and entreat the face of the Lord, and let us seek the Lord of hosts. I will go also.”	21 e li abitanti dell’una andranno all’altra dicendo: Orsù, andiamo a: placare: la faccia di Jahvè e a cercare Jahvè degli eserciti: ora io voglio andarci!
22 And many peoples and strong nations will approach, seeking the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the face of the Lord.	22 E verranno molti popoli e forti nazioni a cercare Jahvè degli eserciti in Gerusalemme e a placare la faccia di Jahvè”.
23 Thus says the Lord of hosts: In those days, then, ten men from every language of the Gentiles will grasp and cling to the hem of one man of Judea, saying: “We will go with you. For we have heard that God is with you.”	23 Così dice Jahvè degli eserciti: “In questi giorni dieci uomini da tutte le lingue delle genti afferreranno per le falde un Giudeo, dicendo: Noi verremo con te perché abbiamo sentito: Dio è con voi!”».
