1 And it happened that, in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth of the month, when I was in the midst of the captives beside the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw the visions of God.	1 La trentième année, le cinquième jour du quatrième mois, comme j'étais au milieu des captifs près du fleuve (de) Chobar, les cieux s'ouvrirent, et je vis des visions divines.
2 On the fifth of the month, the same is the fifth year of the transmigration of king Joachin,	2 Le cinquième jour du mois, la cinquième année de la déportation du roi Joachim,
3 the word of the Lord came to Ezekiel, a priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans, next to the river Chebar. And the hand of the Lord was over him there.	3 la parole du Seigneur fut adressée à Ezéchiel, fils de Buzi, (le) prêtre, dans le pays des Chaldéens, près du fleuve (de) Chobar, et là, la main du Seigneur fut sur lui.
4 And I saw, and behold, a whirlwind arrived from the north. And a great cloud, wrapped in fire and brightness, was all around it. And from its midst, that is, from the midst of the fire, there was something with the appearance of amber.	4 Et je vis, et voici qu'un tourbillon de vent venait de l'aquilon, et une grosse nuée, et un globe de feu, et une lumière qui éclatait tout autour ; et au milieu, c'est-à-dire au milieu du feu, il y avait une espèce de métal brillant (succin).
5 And in its midst, there was the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: the likeness of a man was in them.	5 Et au milieu de ce feu apparaissaient quatre animaux, dont l'aspect avait la ressemblance de l'homme.
6 Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings.	6 Chacun d'eux avait quatre faces, et chacun (d'eux) quatre ailes.
7 Their feet were straight feet, and the sole of their foot was like the sole of the foot of a calf, and they sparkled with the appearance of glowing brass.	7 Leurs pieds étaient droits, et la plante de leurs pieds était comme la plante du pied d'un veau, et ils étincelaient comme l'airain incandescent (le plus brillant).
8 And they had the hands of a man under their wings on the four sides. And they had faces with the wings on the four sides.	8 Il y avait des mains d'hommes sous leurs ailes aux quatre côtés, et ils avaient aux quatre côtés des faces et des ailes.
9 And their wings were joined to one another. They did not turn as they went. Instead, each one advanced before his face.	9 Les ailes de l'un étaient jointes à celles de l'autre ; ils ne se (re)tournaient pas en marchant, mais chacun d'eux allait devant soi.
10 But as for the likeness of their face, there was the face of a man, and the face of a lion on the right of each of the four, then the face of an ox on the left of each of the four, and the face of an eagle above each of the four.	10 Quant à l'apparence de leurs visages, ils avaient tous les quatre une face d'homme, une face de lion à leur droite, et une face de bœuf à leur gauche, et une face d'aigle au-dessus d'eux (des) quatre.
11 Their faces and their wings were extended above: two wings of each one were joined together, and two covered their bodies.	11 Leurs faces et leurs ailes s'étendaient en haut ; deux de leurs ailes se joignaient, et (les) deux (autres) couvraient leurs corps.
12 And each one of them advanced before his face. Wherever the impetus of the spirit was to go, there they went. And they did not turn as they advanced.	12 Chacun d'eux marchait devant soi ; ils allaient où (l'impétuosité de) l'esprit les poussait, et ils ne se retournaient pas en marchant.
13 And as for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like that of burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps. This was the vision dashing in the midst of the living creatures, a bright fire, with lightning going forth from the fire.	13 Et l'aspect des animaux ressemblait à celui de charbons de feu ardents et à celui de lampes allumées. On voyait courir au milieu des animaux des flammes de feu, et de ce feu sortaient des éclairs (la foudre).
14 And the living creatures went and returned like flashes of lightning.	14 Et les animaux allaient et revenaient comme des éclairs flamboyants (la foudre étincelante).
15 And as I beheld the living creatures, there appeared above the earth, next to the living creatures, one wheel having four faces.	15 Et comme je regardais ces animaux, je vis paraître près d'eux, sur la terre, une roue qui avait quatre faces.
16 And the appearance of the wheels and their work was like the appearance of the sea. And each of the four were similar to one another. And their appearance and work was like a wheel in the center of a wheel.	16 L'aspect et la structure des roues les rendaient semblables à une vision de la mer. Elles se ressemblaient toutes les quatre, et leur aspect et leur structure étaient comme si une roue était au milieu d'une autre roue.
17 Going forth, they went by means of their four parts. And they did not turn as they went.	17 En avançant, elles allaient par leurs quatre côtés, et elles ne se retournaient pas en marchant.
18 Also, the size and height and appearance of the wheels was dreadful. And the entire body was full of eyes all around each of the four.	18 Les roues avaient aussi une étendue, une hauteur et un aspect effrayants, et tout le corps des quatre roues était plein d'yeux tout autour.
19 And when the living creatures advanced, the wheels advanced together with them. And when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels, too, were lifted up at the same time.	19 Lorsque les animaux marchaient, les roues marchaient aussi (pareillement) auprès d'eux ; et lorsque les animaux s'élevaient de terre, les roues s'élevaient en même temps.
20 Wherever the spirit went, as the spirit was going forth to that place, the wheels, too, were lifted up together, so as to follow them. For the spirit of life was in the wheels.	20 Partout où allait l'esprit et où l'esprit s'élevait, les roues s'élevaient aussi et le suivaient ; car l'esprit de vie était dans les roues.
21 When going forth, they went forth, and when standing still, they stood still. And when they were lifted up from the earth, the wheels, too, were lifted up together, so as to follow them. For the spirit of life was in the wheels.	21 Lorsque les animaux allaient, les roues allaient ; lorsqu'ils s'arrêtaient, elles s'arrêtaient ; lorsqu'ils s'élevaient de terre, elles s'élevaient aussi et les suivaient ; car l'esprit de vie était dans les roues.
22 And above the heads of the living creatures was the likeness of a firmament: similar to crystal, but dreadful to behold, and extending over their heads from above.	22 Au-dessus de la tête des animaux paraissait un firmament semblable à un cristal terrible à voir, qui était étendu en haut sur leurs têtes.
23 And their wings were straight under the firmament, one toward the other. One of them was covered by two wings on his body, and the other was covered similarly.	23 Sous ce firmament leurs ailes se dressaient l'une contre l'autre : chacun voilait son corps de deux ailes, et tous le voilaient de même.
24 And I heard the sound of their wings, like the sound of many waters, like the sound of the sublime God. When they walked, it was like the sound of a multitude, like the sound of an army. And when they stood still, their wings were let down.	24 Et j'entendais le bruit de leurs ailes, semblables au bruit des grandes eaux, semblable à la voix du Dieu très haut. Lorsqu'ils marchaient, c'était comme le bruit d'une grande multitude, comme le bruit d'une armée ; et quand ils s'arrêtaient leurs ailes retombaient.
25 For when a voice came from above the firmament, which was over their heads, they stood still, and they put down their wings.	25 Car lorsqu'une (la) voix retentissait au-dessus du firmament qui était sur leurs têtes, ils s'arrêtaient et (a)baissaient leurs ailes.
26 And above the firmament, which was suspended over their heads, there was the likeness of a throne, with the appearance of the sapphire stone. And over the likeness of the throne, there was a likeness with the appearance of a man above it.	26 Et, sur le firmament qui dominait leurs têtes, on voyait comme un trône semblable au saphir (l'aspect d'un saphir ressemblant à un trône), et sur cette ressemblance de trône apparaissait comme un homme assis (dessus).
27 And I saw something with the appearance of amber, with the likeness of fire within it and all around it. And from his waist and upward, and from his waist downward, I saw something with the appearance of fire shining all around.	27 Et je vis comme l'apparence d'un métal brillant (succin, note), comme l'aspect du feu, au dedans et autour de lui. Depuis ses reins jusqu'en haut, et depuis ses reins jusqu'en bas, je vis comme un feu qui brillait (resplendissant) tout autour,
28 There was the appearance of the rainbow, as when it is in a cloud on a rainy day. This was the appearance of the splendor on every side.	28 comme l'arc qui paraît dans une nuée en un jour de pluie : tel était l'aspect de la lumière qui brillait tout autour.
