Proverbs 3

1 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart guard my precepts.	1 Figliuol mio, non dimenticare il mio insegnamento; E il cuor tuo guardi i miei comandamenti;
2 For they shall set before you length of days, and years of life, and peace.	2 Perchè ti aggiungeranno lunghezza di giorni, Ed anni di vita, e prosperità.
3 Let not mercy and truth abandon you: encircle them around your throat, and inscribe them on the tablets of your heart.	3 Benignità e verità non ti abbandoneranno; Legateli in su la gola, scrivili in su la tavola del tuo cuore;
4 And so shall you discover grace and good discipline, in the sight of God and men.	4 E tu troverai grazia e buon senno Appo Iddio, ed appo gli uomini.
5 Have confidence in the Lord with all your heart, and do not depend upon your own prudence.	5 Confidati nel Signore con tutto il tuo cuore; E non appoggiarti in su la tua prudenza.
6 In all your ways, consider him, and he himself will direct your steps.	6 Riconoscilo in tutte le tue vie, Ed egli addirizzerà i tuoi sentieri
7 Do not seem wise to yourself. Fear God, and withdraw from evil.	7 Non reputarti savio appo te stesso; Temi il Signore, e ritratti dal male.
8 Certainly, it shall be health to your navel, and refreshment to your bones.	8 Ciò sarà una medicina al tuo bellico, Ed un inaffiamento alle tue ossa.
9 Honor the Lord with your substance, and give to him from the first of all your fruits,	9 Onora il Signore con le tue facoltà, E con le primizie d’ogni tua rendita;
10 and then your storehouses will be filled with abundance, and your presses shall overflow with wine.	10 Ed i tuoi granai saran ripieni di beni in ogni abbondanza, E le tue tigne traboccheranno di mosto.
11 My son, do not discard the discipline of the Lord, and do not fall away when you are corrected by him.	11 Figliuol mio, non disdegnar la correzione del Signore; E non ti rincresca il suo gastigamento;
12 For whomever the Lord loves, he corrects, and just as a father does with a son, he wins him over.	12 Perciocchè il Signore gastiga chi egli ama; Anzi come un padre il figliuolo ch’egli gradisce
13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom and who advances to prudence.	13 Beato l’uomo che ha trovata sapienza, E l’uomo che ha ottenuto intendimento.
14 Her acquisition is better than trading in silver, and her fruit is better than the first and purest gold.	14 Perciocchè il traffico di essa è migliore che il traffico dell’argento, E la sua rendita è migliore che l’oro.
15 She is more precious than all riches, and all that can be desired cannot prevail in comparison to her.	15 Ella è più preziosa che le perle; E tutto ciò che tu hai di più caro non la pareggia.
16 Length of days is at her right hand, and at her left hand is wealth and glory.	16 Lunghezza di giorni è alla sua destra; Ricchezza e gloria alla sua sinistra.
17 Her ways are beautiful ways, and all her paths are peaceful.	17 Le sue vie son vie dilettevoli, E tutti i suoi sentieri sono pace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who overtake her, and he who shall take hold of her is blessed.	18 Ella è un albero di vita a quelli che si appigliano ad essa; E beati coloro che la ritengono.
19 The Lord founded the earth on wisdom. He secured the heavens with prudence.	19 Il Signore ha fondata la terra con sapienza; Egli ha stabiliti i cieli con intendimento.
20 By his wisdom, the abyss erupted and the clouds increased with dew.	20 Per lo suo conoscimento gli abissi furono fessi, E l’aria stilla la rugiada
21 My son, let not these things move away from your eyes. Preserve law as well as counsel.	21 Figliuol mio, non dipartansi giammai queste cose dagli occhi tuoi; Guarda la ragione e l’avvedimento;
22 And so shall there be life in your soul and grace in your voice.	22 E quelle saranno vita all’anima tua, E grazia alla tua gola.
23 Then you shall walk confidently in your way, and your feet will not stumble.	23 Allora camminerai sicuramente per la tua via, Ed il tuo piè non incapperà.
24 When you slumber, you shall not fear. When you rest, your sleep also will be sweet.	24 Quando tu giacerai, non avrai spavento; E quando tu ti riposerai, il tuo sonno sarà dolce.
25 Do not fear unexpected terror, nor the power of the impious falling upon you.	25 Tu non temerai di subito spavento, Nè della ruina degli empi, quando ella avverrà.
26 For the Lord will be at your side, and he will guard your feet, so that you may not be seized.	26 Perciocchè il Signore sarà al tuo fianco, E guarderà il tuo piè, che non sia preso
27 Do not prevent him who is able from doing good. When you are able, do good yourself too.	27 Non negare il bene a quelli a cui è dovuto, Quando è in tuo potere di farlo.
28 Do not say to your friend: “Go away, and then return. Tomorrow I will give to you.” When you are able to do so, give in the present.	28 Non dire al tuo prossimo: Va’, e torna, E domani te lo darò, se tu l’hai appo te.
29 Do not undertake evil against your friend, even though he has trust in you.	29 Non macchinare alcun male contro al tuo prossimo Che abita in sicurtà teco.
30 Do not contend against a man without cause, even though he has done no evil to you.	30 Non litigar con alcuno senza cagione, S’egli non ti ha fatto alcun torto.
31 Do not rival an unjust man, and do not imitate his ways.	31 Non portare invidia all’uomo violento, E non eleggere alcuna delle sue vie.
32 For everyone who ridicules is an abomination to the Lord, and his communication is for the simple.	32 Perciocchè l’uomo perverso è cosa abbominevole al Signore; Ma egli comunica il suo consiglio con gli uomini diritti.
33 Destitution in the house of the impious is from the Lord. But the habitations of the just shall be blessed.	33 La maledizione del Signore è nella casa dell’empio; Ma egli benedirà la stanza de’ giusti.
34 He will ridicule those who ridicule, but he will bestow grace upon the mild.	34 Se egli schernisce gli schernitori, Dà altresì grazia agli umili.
35 The wise will possess glory. The exaltation of the foolish is disgraceful.	35 I savi possederanno la gloria; Ma gli stolti se ne portano ignominia
