Psalms 72

1 A Psalm of Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to those who are upright in heart.	1 Psaume sur Solomon.
2 But my feet were nearly moved; my steps had nearly slipped.	2 O Dieu, donnez au Roi Votre jugement, * et au Fils du roi Votre justice; pour qu'Il juge Votre peuple avec justice, * et Vos pauvres selon l'équité.
3 For I was zealous over the iniquitous, seeing the peacefulness of sinners.	3 Que les montagnes reçoivent la paix pour le peuple, * et les collines la justice!
4 For they have no respect for their death, nor do they have support in their wounds.	4 Il jugera les pauvres du peuple, et sauvera les enfants des pauvres, * et humiliera le calomniateur.
5 They are not with the hardships of men, nor will they be scourged with men.	5 Et Il durera autant que le soleil et que la lune, * de génération en génération.
6 Therefore, arrogance has held on to them. They have been covered with their iniquity and impiety.	6 Il descendra comme la pluie sur une toison, * et comme les eaux qui tombent goutte à goutte sur la terre.
7 Their iniquity has proceeded, as if from fat. They have parted from the affection of the heart.	7 En Ses jours apparaîtra la justice et l'abondance de la paix, * jusqu'à ce que la lune soit détruite.
8 They have thought and spoken wickedness. They have spoken iniquity in high places.	8 Et Il dominera de la mer à la mer, * et depuis le fleuve jusqu'aux extrémités de la terre.
9 They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has traversed the earth.	9 Devant Lui se prosterneront les Ethiopiens, * et Ses ennemis lécheront la terre.
10 Therefore, my people will be converted here, and fullness of days will be found in them.	10 Les rois de Tharsis et les îles Lui offriront des présents; * les rois d'Arabie et de Saba apporteront des dons;
11 And they said, “How would God know?” and, “Isn’t there knowledge in high places?”	11 et tous les rois de la terre L'adoreront, * toutes les nations Lui seront assujetties.
12 Behold, these are sinners, and, abounding in this age, they have obtained riches.	12 Car Il délivrera le pauvre des mains du puissant, * et l'indigent qui n'avait personne pour l'assister.
13 And I said: So then, it is without purpose that I have justified my heart and washed my hands among the innocent.	13 Il aura compassion du pauvre et de l'indigent, * et Il sauvera les âmes des pauvres.
14 And I have been scourged all day long, and I have received my chastisement in the mornings.	14 Il affranchira leurs âmes de l'usure et de l'iniquité, * et leur nom sera en honneur devant Lui.
15 If I were to say that I would explain this: Behold, I would condemn this nation of your sons.	15 Et Il vivra, et on Lui donnera de l'or d'Arabie; on L'adorera sans cesse, * tout le jour on Le bénira.
16 I considered, so that I might know this. It is a hardship before me,	16 Et le blé sera sur la terre au sommet des montagnes; son fruit s'élèvera plus haut que le Liban, * et on fleurira dans la cité comme l'herbe des champs.
17 until I may enter into the Sanctuary of God, and understand it to its last part.	17 Que Son Nom soit béni dans tous les siècles: * Son Nom durera autant que le soleil. Et toutes les tribus de la terre seront bénies en Lui; * toutes les nations Le glorifieront.
18 So, because of deceitfulness, truly, you have placed it before them. While they were being lifted up, you were casting them down.	18 Béni soit le Seigneur, Dieu d'Israël, * qui opère seul des merveilles.
19 How have they been brought to desolation? They have suddenly failed. They have perished because of their iniquity.	19 Et béni soit éternellement le Nom de Sa majesté, * et que toute la terre soit remplie de Sa majesté. Ainsi soit-il, ainsi soit-il.
20 As a dream is to those who awaken, O Lord, so will you reduce their image to nothing in your city.	20 Ici finissent les louanges de David, fils de Jessé.
21 For my heart has been inflamed, and my temperament has been changed.
22 And so, I have been reduced to nothing, and I did not know it.
23 I have become like a beast of burden to you, and I am always with you.
24 You have held my right hand. And in your will, you have conducted me, and with your glory, you have taken me up.
25 For what is there for me in heaven? And what do I wish for on earth before you?
26 My body has failed, and my heart: O God of my heart, and God my portion, into eternity.
27 For behold, those who put themselves far from you will perish. You have perished all those who fornicate away from you.
28 But it is good for me to adhere to God, to put my hope in the Lord God, so that I may announce all your prophecies, at the gates of the daughter of Zion.
