Psalms 54

1 Unto the end. In verses, the understanding of David.	1 In fine, nelli versi (ovver inni) dell' intelletto di David.
2 Listen to my prayer, O God, and despise not my supplication.	2 Iddio, esaudi la mia orazione, e non disprezzare il mio priego; intendi me, ed esaudi me.
3 Be attentive to me, and heed me. I have been grieved in my training, and I have been disturbed	3 Hommi contristato nella mia operazione; conturbato sono dalla voce dell' inimico, e dalla tribulazione del peccatore.
4 at the voice of the adversary and at the tribulation of the sinner. For they have diverted iniquities toward me, and they have been harassing me with rage.	4 Però che le iniquità mie [in me] si hanno declinate; e a me erano molesti nell' ira.
5 My heart has become disturbed within me, and the dread of death has fallen over me.	5 Il mio cuore è conturbato in me; e la paura della morte mi ha toccato.
6 Fear and trembling have overwhelmed me, and darkness has buried me.	6 Sopra di me vennero il timore e il tremore; mi hanno coperto le tenebre.
7 And I said, “Who will give me wings like the dove, so that I may fly away and take rest?”	7 E dissi: a me chi darà le penne, come di colomba, e volerò e riposerommi?
8 Behold, I have fled far away, and I linger in solitude.	8 Ecco che fuggendo m' allungai, e dimorai nella solitudine.
9 I waited for him who saved me from a weak-minded spirit and from a tempest.	9 Aspettava lui, che mi fece salvo dalla pusillanimità di spirito, e dalla tempesta.
10 Cast them down, O Lord, and divide their tongues. For I have seen iniquity and contradiction in the city.	10 Taglia, Signore, e parti le loro lingue; però ch' io ho veduto nella città la iniquità e la contraddizione.
11 Day and night, iniquity will surround it upon its walls, and hardship is in its midst,	11 La iniquità [la] circonderà dì e notte sopra le sue mura; e nel suo mezzo sarà fatica e ingiustizia.
12 with injustice. And usury and deceit have not fallen away from its streets.	12 Nelle sue piazze non mancò usura e inganno.
13 For if my enemy had spoken evil about me, certainly, I would have sustained it. And if he who hated me had been speaking great things against me, I would perhaps have hidden myself from him.	13 Imperò [che] se il mio nemico mi avesse maledetto, certo l' avrei sostenuto. E se quel che mi aveva odiato, avesse parlato le cose grandi contra di me, forse mi sarei appiattato da lui.
14 Truly, you are a man of one mind: my leader and my acquaintance,	14 Ma tu, uomo d' uno animo, duce mio e amico mio,
15 who took sweet food together with me. In the house of God, we walked side-by-side.	15 il qual insieme meco pigliavi li dolci cibi; andassimo nella casa di Dio con consentimento.
16 Let death come upon them, and let them descend alive into Hellfire. For there is wickedness in their dwellings, in their midst.	16 Sopra loro venga la morte; e viventi discendano nell' inferno; per che nelle loro abitazioni sono le nequizie, nel loro mezzo.
17 But I have cried out to God, and the Lord will save me.	17 Ma io a Dio gridai; e salvommi il Signore.
18 Evening and morning and midday, I will discourse and announce, and he will heed my voice.	18 Nel vespero e mattina e mezzo dì narrerò e racconterò; ed egli esaudirà la voce mia.
19 He will redeem my soul in peace from those who draw near to me. For, among the many, they were with me.	19 Nella pace ricomprerà l' anima mia da quelli che a me si appressano; imperò [che] tra molti erano meco.
20 God will hear, and He who is before time will humble them. For there is no change with them, and they have not feared God.	20 Iddio, che è inanzi il mondo, esaudirà, e umilierà quelli. Certo a quelli non è commutazione, e non temettero Iddio; stese la sua mano in retribuire.
21 He has stretched forth his hand in retribution. They have contaminated his covenant.	21 Contaminarono il suo testamento; sono divisi dall' ira del volto suo; e appropinquossi il cuore suo.
22 They were divided by the wrath of his countenance, and his heart has drawn near. His words are smoother than oil, and they are arrows.	22 Hanno formato li suoi parlari sopra l'olio; e quelli sono gragnuole.
23 Cast your cares upon the Lord, and he will nurture you. He will not allow the just to be tossed about forever.	23 Sopra il Signore poni la tua sollicitudine, e lui nutrirà; e in eterno non darà la concussione di mente al giusto.
24 Truly, O God, you will lead them away into the well of death. Bloody and deceitful men will not divide their days in half. But I will hope in you, O Lord.	24 Ma tu, Iddio, menerai quelli nel pozzo della morte. Gli uomini sanguinosi e ingannatori non finiranno gli suoi di in pace; ma io spererò in te, Signore.
