1 A Canticle in steps. O Lord, remember David and all his meekness,	1 Cântico das subidas. Lembra-te, Senhor, em favor de Davide, de toda a sua solicitude:
2 how he swore to the Lord, how he made a vow to the God of Jacob:	2 (lembra-te) como fez este juramento ao Senhor, esta promessa ao poderoso de Jacob:
3 I shall not enter into the tabernacle of my house, nor climb into the bed where I lie down;	3 "Não entrarei na tenda da minha casa, não subirei ao estrado do meu leito,
4 I shall not give sleep to my eyes, nor slumber to my eyelids	4 não darei sono aos meus olhos, nem repouso às minhas pálpebras,
5 and rest to my temples, until I find a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.	5 até que encontre um lugar para o Senhor, uma morada para o Poderoso de Jacob."
6 Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah. We discovered it in the fields of the forest.	6 Nós ouvimos dizer que a arca estava em Efrata; fomos achá-la nos campos de laar.
7 We will enter into his tabernacle. We will adore in the place where his feet stood.	7 Entremos na sua morada, prostremo-nos ante o escabelo de seus pés.
8 Rise up, O Lord, into your resting place. You and the ark of your sanctification.	8 Levanta-te, Senhor, para o lugar do teu repouso, tu e a arca da tua majestade.
9 Let your priests be clothed with justice, and let your saints exult.	9 Revistam-se os teus sacerdotes de justiça (ou santidade), e dêem os teus fiéis largas à sua alegria.
10 For the sake of your servant David, do not turn away the face of your Christ.	10 Por amor de Davide, teu servo, não rejeites o rosto do teu ungido.
11 The Lord has sworn the truth to David, and he will not disappoint: I will set upon your throne from the fruit of your lineage.	11 Jurou o Senhor a Davide uma promessa firme, que jamais retratará: "Um descendente da tua linhagem porei sobre o teu trono.
12 If your sons will keep my covenant and these, my testimonies, which I will teach to them, then their sons will sit upon your throne even forever.	12 Se os teus filhos guardarem a minha aliança e os preceitos que eu lhes ensinar, também os seus filhos para sempre se sentarão sobre o teu trono."
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion. He has chosen it as his dwelling place.	13 Com efeito o Senhor escolheu Sião, desejou-a para sua habitação:
14 This is my resting place, forever and ever. Here I will dwell, for I have chosen it.	14 "Este é o meu repouso para sempre, aqui habitarei, porque a desejei;
15 When blessing, I will bless her widow. I will satisfy her poor with bread.	15 abençoarei copiosamente o seu alimento, saciarei de pão os seus pobres.
16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will rejoice with great joy.	16 Vestirei os seus sacerdotes de salvação, e os seus santos exultarão de júbilo.
17 There, I will produce a horn to David. There, I have prepared a lamp for my Christ.	17 Ali dilatarei o poder de Davide, prepararei uma lâmpada para o meu ungido"
18 I will clothe his enemies with confusion. But my sanctification will flourish over him.	18 Cobrirei de confusão os seus inimigos, enquanto sobre ele brilhará o meu diadema,"
