Alleluia. Of the return of Haggai and Zachariah. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord. He will prefer his commandments exceedingly. | 1 Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. |
His offspring will be powerful on the earth. The generation of the upright will be blessed. | 2 The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. |
Glory and wealth will be in his house, and his justice shall remain from age to age. | 3 His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever. |
For the upright, a light has risen up in the darkness. He is merciful and compassionate and just. | 4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion. |
Pleasing is the man who shows mercy and lends. He will order his words with judgment. | 5 He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant. |
For he will not be disturbed in eternity. | 6 He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen. |
The just one will be an everlasting memorial. He will not fear a report of disasters. His heart is prepared to hope in the Lord. | 7 The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure. |
His heart has been confirmed. He will not be disturbed, until he looks down upon his enemies. | 8 They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness. |
He has distributed, he has given to the poor. His justice shall remain from age to age. His horn shall be exalted in glory. | 9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name. |
The sinner will see and become angry. He will gnash his teeth and waste away. The desire of sinners will perish. | 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. |
