And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
“Speak to the sons of Israel, so that they may take the first-fruits to me. You shall accept these from every man who offers of his own accord.2 'Tel the Israelites to set aside a contribution for me; you wil accept a contribution from everyonewhose heart prompts him to give it.
Now these are the things that you must accept: Gold, and silver, and brass,3 And this is what you wil accept from them: gold, silver and bronze;
hyacinth and purple, and twice-dyed scarlet, and fine linen, the hair of goats,4 materials dyed violet-purple, red-purple and crimson, fine linen, goats' hair;
and the skins of rams, dyed red, and skins of violet, and setim wood,5 rams' skins dyed red, fine leather, acacia wood;
oil to prepare lights, aromatics as ointments and sweet-smelling incense,6 oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and fragrant incense;
onyx stones and gems to adorn the ephod as well as the breastplate.7 cornelian and other stones to be set in the ephod and breastplate.
And they shall make a sanctuary for me, and I will live in their midst.8 Make me a sanctuary so that I can reside among them.
According to exact likeness of the tabernacle, and all of the vessels for its rituals, that I will reveal to you, so shall you make it.9 You will make it al according to the design for the Dwel ing and the design for its furnishings which Ishall now show you.
Join together an ark of setim wood, whose length shall hold two and one half cubits; the width, one and one half cubits; the height, likewise, one and one half cubits.10 'You must make me an ark of acacia wood, two and a half cubits long, one and a half cubits wide andone and a half cubits high.
And you shall overlay it with the finest gold, inside and out. And over it, you shall fashion a gold crown all around,11 You wil overlay it, inside and out, with pure gold and make a gold moulding al round it.
and four gold rings, which you shall set into the four corners of the ark. Let two rings be on one side and two on the other.12 You wil cast four gold rings for it and fix them to its four supports: two rings on one side and tworings on the other.
Likewise, you shall make bars of setim wood and cover them with gold.13 You wil also make shafts of acacia wood and overlay them with gold
And you shall put them through the rings that are in the sides of the ark, so that it may be carried on them.14 and pass the shafts through the rings on the sides of the ark, by which to carry it.
These must always be in the rings, neither shall they ever be drawn out of them.15 The shafts wil stay in the rings of the ark and not be withdrawn.
And you shall place the testimony, which I will give to you, in the ark.16 Inside the ark you wil put the Testimony which I am about to give you.
You shall also make a propitiatory of the finest gold. Its length shall hold two and one half cubits, and the width, one and one half cubits.17 'You wil also make a mercy-seat of pure gold, two and a half cubits long and one and a half cubitswide,
Likewise, you shall make two Cherubim of formed gold, on both sides of the oracle.18 and you wil model two great winged creatures of beaten gold, you wil make them at the two ends ofthe mercy-seat.
Let one Cherub be on the one side, and the other be on the other.19 Model one of the winged creatures at one end and the other winged creature at the other end; youwil model the winged creatures of a piece with the mercy-seat at either end.
And let them cover both sides of the propitiatory, spreading their wings and covering the oracle, and let them look out toward one another, their faces being turned toward the propitiatory, with which the ark is to be covered,20 The winged creatures must have their wings spread upwards, protecting the mercy-seat with theirwings and facing each other, their faces being towards the mercy-seat.
in which you will place the testimony that I will give to you.21 You wil put the mercy-seat on the top of the ark, and inside the ark you will put the Testimony which Iam about to give you.
From there, I will warn you and speak to you, above the propitiatory and from the middle of the two Cherubim, which will be over the ark of the testimony, about everything that I will command of the sons of Israel through you.22 There I shall come to meet you; from above the mercy-seat, from between the two winged creatureswhich are on the ark of the Testimony, I shall give you al my orders for the Israelites.
You shall also make a table of setim wood, having two cubits of length, and one cubit in width, and one cubit and one half cubits in height.23 'You must also make a table of acacia wood, two cubits long, one cubit wide and one and a halfcubits high.
And you shall overlay it with the purest gold. And you shall make it with a gold lip all around,24 You wil overlay it with pure gold, and make a gold moulding al round it.
and for the lip itself an engraved crown, four fingers high, and above it another little gold crown.25 You wil fit it with struts of a hand's breadth and make a gold moulding round the struts.
Likewise, you shall prepare four gold rings and set them in the four corners of the same table, over each foot.26 You wil make four gold rings for it and fix the four rings at the four corners where the four legs are.
Under the crown, there shall be gold rings, so that the bars may be put through them and the table may be carried.27 The rings must lie close to the struts to hold the shafts for carrying the table.
Likewise, the bars themselves you shall make of setim wood, and surround them with gold, to lift up the table.28 You must make the shafts of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. The table must be carried bythese.
You shall also prepare small cups, as well as bowls, censers, and measuring cups, with which the libations shall be offered, out of the purest gold.29 You must make dishes, cups, jars and libation bowls for it; you must make these of pure gold,
And you shall place upon the table the bread of the presence, in my sight always.30 and on the table, in my presence, you wil always put the loaves of permanent offering.
You shall also make a lampstand, formed from the finest gold, along with its stem and arms, its bowl and little spheres, as well as the lilies proceeding from it.31 'You wil also make a lamp-stand of pure gold; the lamp-stand must be of beaten gold, base andstem. Its cups, calyxes and petals, must be of a piece with it.
Six branches shall go out from the sides: three out of one side and three out of the other.32 Six branches must spring from its sides: three of the lamp-stand's branches from one side, three ofthe lamp-stand's branches from the other.
Three bowls, the size of nuts, shall be on each branch, and a little sphere with it, and a lily. And three similar bowls, in the likeness of nuts, shall be on the other branch, and a little sphere with it, and a lily. This shall be the form of the six branches, which are to proceed from the stem.33 The first branch must carry three cups shaped like almond blossoms, each with its calyx and petals;the second branch, too, must carry three cups shaped like almond blossoms, each with its calyx and bud, andsimilarly for all six branches springing from the lamp-stand.
Then, in the lampstand itself, there shall be four bowls, the size of nuts, and each with little spheres and lilies.34 The lamp-stand itself must carry four cups shaped like almond blossoms, each with its calyx and bud:
Little spheres under two branches in three places, which together make six, shall proceed from one of the stems.35 one calyx under the first two branches springing from the lamp-stand, one calyx under the next pairof branches and one calyx under the last pair of branches -- thus for al six branches springing from the lamp-stand.
Thus both the little spheres and the branches shall be made out of the same thing: entirely formed from the purest gold.36 The calyxes and the branches wil be of a piece with the lamp-stand, and the whole made from asingle piece of pure gold, beaten out.
You shall also make seven lamps, and you shall place them upon the lampstand, so that they may give light in every direction.37 You wil also make seven lamps for it and mount the lamps in such a way that they light up the spacein front of it.
Likewise, the candle snuffers, and the place where the candles will be extinguished, shall be made from the purest gold.38 The snuffers and trays must be of pure gold.
The entire weight of the candlestick, with all its parts, shall hold one talent of the purest gold.39 You wil use a talent of pure gold for the lamp-stand and al its accessories;
Observe, and then make it according to the example that was shown to you on the mountain.”40 and see that you work to the design which was shown you on the mountain.'
