1 Then, twenty years having passed since Solomon built the house of the Lord and his own house,	1 Transcurridos los veinte años que había empleado en la construcción del templo del Señor y de su palacio, Salomón
2 he built the cities that Hiram had given to Solomon, and he caused the sons of Israel to live there.	2 reconstruyó las ciudades que le había dado Jirán e instaló en ellas a los hijos de Israel.
3 Also, he went to Hamath Zobah, and he obtained it.	3 Salomón marchó contra Jamat de Sobá y se apoderó de ella.
4 And he built Palmira in the desert, and he built very fortified cities in Hamath.	4 Fortificó Tadmor en el desierto y todas las ciudades de avituallamiento que había construido en Jamat.
5 And he built upper Beth-horon and lower Beth-horon, as walled cities, having gates and bars and locks,	5 Reconstruyó Bet Jorón de Arriba y Bet Jorón de Abajo como ciudades fortificadas: con murallas, puertas y cerrojos.
6 as well as Baalath, and all the very strong cities which were of Solomon, and all the cities of the chariots, and the cities of the horsemen. Everything whatsoever that Solomon willed and decided, he built in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and throughout the entire land of his authority.	6 Lo mismo hizo con Baalat, con las ciudades de avituallamiento que tenía Salomón, las ciudades para los carros y las caballerizas, y con cuanto quiso construir en Jerusalén, en el Líbano y en todos los dominios de su reino.
7 All the people who had been left from the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, those who were not from the stock of Israel,	7 A cuantos quedaban de los hititas, amorreos, perizitas, jivitas y jebuseos —que no eran israelitas
8 those of their sons and their posterity whom the sons of Israel had not put to death, Solomon subjugated as tributaries, even to this day.	8 y cuyos descendientes habían permanecido en el país, porque los hijos de Israel no los habían exterminado—, Salomón los reclutó para trabajos forzados, hasta el día de hoy.
9 But he did not appoint anyone from the sons of Israel to serve in the works of the king. For they were men of war, and first rulers, and commanders of his chariots and horsemen.	9 A los hijos de Israel, en cambio, no les impuso trabajos forzados, sino que eran soldados, oficiales, capitanes y comandantes de sus carros y caballería.
10 Now all the leaders of the army of king Solomon were two hundred fifty, who were instructing the people.	10 Salomón tenía doscientos cincuenta jefes de guarnición que mandaban al pueblo.
11 Truly, he transferred the daughter of Pharaoh, from the City of David, to the house that he had built for her. For the king said: “My wife shall not live in the house of David, king of Israel, for it has been sanctified. For the ark of the Lord has entered into it.”	11 Salomón trasladó a la hija del faraón desde la Ciudad de David al palacio que le había construido, pues se decía: «Mi mujer no puede vivir en el palacio de David, rey de Israel, porque el lugar donde ha estado el Arca del Señor es sagrado».
12 Then Solomon offered holocausts to the Lord on the altar of the Lord, which he had constructed before the portico,	12 Salomón ofrecía holocaustos al Señor sobre el altar del Señor que había erigido delante del vestíbulo;
13 so that every day there would be an offering on it, in accord with precept of Moses, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and three times a year on the feast days, that is, on the solemnity of unleavened bread, and on the solemnity of weeks, and in the solemnity of tabernacles.	13 los ofrecía según el rito de cada día, conforme a lo prescrito por Moisés para los sábados, los principios de mes y las tres solemnidades anuales: la de los Ácimos, la de las Semanas y la de las Tiendas.
14 And he appointed, in accord with the plan of his father David, the offices of the priests in their ministries; and those of the Levites, in their orders, so that they might praise and minister before the priests according to the ritual of each day; and the porters, in their divisions, from gate to gate. For so had David, the man of God, instructed.	14 Conforme a la ordenanza de su padre David, asignó sus oficios a los grupos sacerdotales; a los levitas, sus funciones de alabar y oficiar en presencia de los sacerdotes, según el rito de cada día; y a los porteros les encargó, por grupos, cada una de las puertas. Así lo había dispuesto David, el hombre de Dios.
15 Neither the priests, nor the Levites, transgressed against the commands of the king, in all that he had instructed, and in the keeping of the treasuries.	15 No se desviaron ni un ápice del mandato real para los sacerdotes, los levitas, ni en lo referente a los almacenes.
16 Solomon had all the expenses prepared, from the day on which he founded the house of the Lord, even until the day when he perfected it.	16 Así se llevó a cabo la obra de Salomón, desde el día en que se echaron los cimientos del templo del Señor hasta su finalización. De este modo quedó ultimado el templo del Señor.
17 Then Solomon went away to Eziongeber, and to Eloth, on the coast of the Red Sea, which is in the land of Edom.	17 Salomón se dirigió entonces a Esión Guéber y a Elat, a orillas del mar, en la tierra de Edón.
18 And Hiram sent to him ships, by the hands of his servants, sailors and skillful navigators of the sea, and they went away with the servants of Solomon to Ophir. And they took from there four hundred fifty talents of gold, and they brought it to king Solomon.	18 Jirán, por medio de sus siervos, le envió naves y expertos marineros. Fueron a Ofir con los siervos de Salomón. Trajeron de allí al rey Salomón unos dieciséis mil kilos de oro.
