1 Samuel 26

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Some men from Ziph went to Saul at Gibeah and said, 'Look, David is hiding on the Hil of Hachilah onthe edge of the wastelands!'	1 Les gens de Ziph vinrent à Gibéa et dirent à Saül: "Est-ce que David ne se cache pas sur lacolline de Hakila, à l'orée de la steppe?"
2 So Saul set off and went down to the desert of Ziph, accompanied by three thousand picked men ofIsrael, to search for David in the desert of Ziph.	2 S'étant mis en route, Saül descendit au désert de Ziph, accompagné de 3.000 hommes, l'élited'Israël, pour traquer David dans le désert de Ziph.
3 Saul pitched camp on the Hil of Hachilah, which is on the edge of the wastelands near the road. Davidwas then living in the desert and saw that Saul had come after him into the desert.	3 Saül campa à la colline de Hakila, qui est à l'orée de la steppe, près de la route. David séjournaitau désert et il vit que Saül était venu derrière lui au désert.
4 Accordingly, David sent out spies and learned that Saul had indeed arrived.	4 David envoya des espions et il sut que Saül était effectivement arrivé.
5 Setting off, David went to the place where Saul had pitched camp. He saw the place where Saul andAbner son of Ner, commander of his army, had bedded down. Saul had bedded down inside the camp with thetroops bivouacking round him.	5 Alors David se mit en route et arriva au lieu où Saül campait. Il vit l'endroit où étaient couchésSaül et Abner, fils de Ner, le chef de son armée: Saül était couché dans le campement et la troupe bivouaquaitautour de lui.
6 Speaking to Ahimelech the Hittite and Abishai son of Zeruiah and brother of Joab, David said, 'Whowil come down with me to the camp, to Saul?' Abishai answered, 'I will go down with you.'	6 David, s'adressant à Ahimélek le Hittite et à Abishaï, fils de Ceruya et frère de Joab, leur dit:"Qui veut descendre avec moi au camp, jusqu'à Saül?" Abishaï répondit: "C'est moi qui descendrai avec toi."
7 So in the dark David and Abishai made their way towards the force, where they found Saul lyingasleep inside the camp, his spear stuck in the ground beside his head, with Abner and the troops lying roundhim.	7 Donc David et Abishaï se dirigèrent de nuit vers la troupe: ils trouvèrent Saül étendu et dormantdans le campement, sa lance plantée en terre à son chevet, et Abner et l'armée étaient couchés autour de lui.
8 Abishai then said to David, 'Today God has put your enemy in your power; so now let me pin him tothe ground with his own spear. Just one stroke! I shal not need to strike him twice.'	8 Alors Abishaï dit à David: "Aujourd'hui Dieu a livré ton ennemi en ta main. Eh bien, laisse-moile clouer à terre avec sa propre lance, d'un seul coup et je n'aurai pas à lui en donner un second!"
9 David said to Abishai, 'Do not kil him, for who could raise his hand against Yahweh's anointed and gounpunished?	9 Mais David dit à Abishaï: "Ne le tue pas! Qui pourrait porter la main sur l'oint de Yahvé et resterimpuni?"
10 As Yahweh lives,' David said, 'Yahweh himself wil strike him down: either the day wil come for himto die, or he will go into battle and perish then.	10 David ajouta: "Aussi vrai que Yahvé est vivant, c'est Yahvé qui le frappera, soit que son jourarrive et qu'il meure, soit qu'il descende au combat et qu'il y périsse.
11 Yahweh forbid that I should raise my hand against Yahweh's anointed! But now let us take the spearbeside his head and the pitcher of water, and let us go away.'	11 Mais que Yahvé me garde de porter la main sur l'oint de Yahvé! Maintenant, prends donc lalance qui est à son chevet et la gourde d'eau, et allons-nous en."
12 David took the spear and the pitcher of water from beside Saul's head, and they made off. No onesaw, no one knew, no one woke up; they were al asleep, because a torpor from Yahweh had fal en on them.	12 David prit du chevet de Saül la lance et la gourde d'eau et ils s'en allèrent: personne n'en vitrien, personne ne le sut, personne ne s'éveilla, ils dormaient tous, car une torpeur venant de Yahvé s'était abattuesur eux.
13 David crossed to the other side and halted on the top of the mountain a long way off; there was awide space between them.	13 David passa de l'autre côté et se tint sur le sommet de la montagne au loin; il y avait un grandespace entre eux.
14 David then cal ed out to the troops and to Abner son of Ner, 'Abner, why don't you answer?' Abnerreplied, 'Who is that calling?'	14 Alors David appela l'armée et Abner, fils de Ner: "Ne vas-tu pas répondre, Abner", dit-il. EtAbner répondit: "Qui es-tu, toi qui appelles?"
15 David said to Abner, 'Are you not a man? Who is your equal in Israel? Why, then, did you not guardthe king your lord? One of the people came to kill the king your lord.	15 David dit à Abner: "N'es-tu pas un homme? Et qui est ton pareil en Israël? Pourquoi donc n'as-tu pas veillé sur le roi ton maître? Car quelqu'un du peuple est venu pour tuer le roi ton maître.
16 What you did was not wel done. As Yahweh lives, you all deserve to die since you did not guardyour lord, Yahweh's anointed. Look where the king's spear is now, and the pitcher of water which was beside hishead!'	16 Ce n'est pas bien ce que tu as fait. Aussi vrai que Yahvé est vivant, vous êtes dignes de mortpour n'avoir pas veillé sur votre maître, l'oint de Yahvé. Maintenant, regarde donc où est la lance du roi et où estla gourde d'eau qui était à son chevet!"
17 Recognising David's voice, Saul said, 'Is that your voice, my son David?' David replied, 'It is myvoice, my lord king.	17 Or Saül reconnut la voix de David, et il demanda: "Est-ce bien ta voix, mon fils David" -- "Oui,Monseigneur le roi", répondit David.
18 Why is my lord pursuing his servant?' he said. 'What have I done? What crime have I committed?	18 Et il continua: "Pourquoi donc Monseigneur poursuit-il son serviteur? Qu'ai-je fait et de quoisuis-je coupable?
19 May my lord king now listen to his servant's words: if Yahweh has incited you against me, may he beappeased with an offering; but if human beings have done it, may they be accursed before Yahweh, since theyhave as effectively banished me today from sharing in Yahweh's heritage as if they had said, "Go and serveother gods!"	19 Maintenant, que Monseigneur le roi veuille écouter les paroles de son serviteur: si c'est Yahvéqui t'excite contre moi, qu'il soit apaisé par une offrande, mais si ce sont des humains, qu'ils soient mauditsdevant Yahvé, car ils m'ont banni aujourd'hui, en sorte que je ne participe plus à l'héritage de Yahvé, comme s'ilsdisaient: Va servir des dieux étrangers!
20 So I pray now that my blood shall not be shed on soil remote from Yahweh's presence, when theking of Israel has mounted an expedition to take my life, as one might hunt a partridge in the mountains!'	20 Maintenant, que mon sang ne soit pas répandu à terre loin de la présence de Yahvé! En effet, leroi d'Israël est sorti à la quête de ma vie, comme on pourchasse la perdrix dans les montagnes."
21 Saul replied, 'I have done wrong! Come back, my son David; I shal never harm you again, sincetoday you have shown respect for my life. Yes, I have behaved like a fool, I have been profoundly in the wrong.'	21 Saül dit: "J'ai péché! Reviens, mon fils David, je ne te ferai plus de mal, puisque ma vie a euaujourd'hui tant de prix à tes yeux. Oui, j'ai agi en insensé et je me suis très lourdement trompé."
22 In reply, David said, 'Here is the king's spear. Let one of the men come across and get it.	22 David répondit: "Voici la lance du roi. Que l'un des garçons traverse et vienne la prendre.
23 May Yahweh reward each as each has been upright and loyal. Today Yahweh put you in my powerbut I would not raise my hand against Yahweh's anointed.	23 Yahvé rendra à chacun selon sa justice et sa fidélité: aujourd'hui Yahvé t'avait livré entre mesmains et je n'ai pas voulu porter la main contre l'oint de Yahvé.
24 As today I set great value by your life, so may Yahweh set great value by my life and deliver me fromevery tribulation!'	24 De même que ta vie a compté beaucoup à mes yeux en ce jour, ainsi ma vie comptera beaucoupau regard de Yahvé et il me délivrera de toute angoisse."
25 Saul then said, 'May you be blessed, my son David! In what you undertake, you wil certainlysucceed.' David then went on his way and Saul returned home.	25 Saül dit à David: "Béni sois-tu, mon fils David. Certainement tu entreprendras et tu réussiras."David alla son chemin et Saül retourna chez lui.
