NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 In the highlands of Ephraim there was a man cal ed Micayehu.	1 C'era un uomo della montagna di Efraim che si chiamava Mica.
2 He said to his mother, 'The eleven hundred silver shekels which were taken from you and concerningwhich you uttered a curse, having said in my hearing . . . Look, I have got that silver. I was the one who took it.'His mother said, 'May Yahweh bless my boy!'	2 Un giorno disse a sua madre: "I mille e cento sicli d'argento che ti sono stati presi e riguardo ai quali hai pronunciato la maledizione che ho udito con le mie orecchie, li ho con me, ché sono stato io a prenderli, e ora te li restituisco". Esclamò allora sua madre: "Che mio figlio sia benedetto dal Signore!".
3 He gave the eleven hundred shekels back to his mother, who said, 'I have indeed vowed to give thissilver to Yahweh for my son, to have a statue carved and an idol cast in metal, but now I should like to give itback to you.' He, however, returned the money to his mother.	3 Costui restituì i mille e cento sicli d'argento a sua madre la quale disse: "Voglio consacrare, di mia mano, questa somma di denaro al Signore, per mio figlio, per farne una statua di metallo".
4 His mother then took two hundred silver shekels and gave them to the metalworker. With them, hecarved a statue (and cast an idol in metal) which was put in Micayehu's house.	4 Dopo che Mica ebbe restituito a sua madre il denaro, questa ne prese duecento sicli e li consegnò al fonditore, il quale ne fece una statua che poi rimase nella casa di Mica.
5 This man Micah owned a shrine; he made an ephod and some domestic images, and instal ed one ofhis sons to be his priest.	5 Così quest'uomo, Mica, ebbe un santuario, si fece un efod e i terafim, e dette l'investitura sacerdotale a uno dei suoi figli, che gli faceva da sacerdote.
6 In those days there was no king in Israel, and everyone did as he saw fit.	6 Ciò fu possibile, perché in quel tempo non c'era re in Israele e ognuno poteva fare quello che gli piaceva.
7 There was a young man of Bethlehem in Judah, of the clan of Judah, who was a Levite and residedthere as a stranger.	7 C'era allora un giovane della tribù di Giuda, della città di Betlemme della stessa tribù, che era levita e abitava in quella città come straniero.
8 This man left the town of Bethlehem in Judah to settle wherever he could find a home. On his travelshe came to the highlands of Ephraim and to Micah's house.	8 Quest'uomo, un giorno, si mosse dalla città di Betlemme di Giuda per cercare un altro luogo qualsiasi in cui stabilirsi. Giunse così, cammin facendo, fino alla montagna di Efraim, proprio alla casa di Mica.
9 Micah asked him, 'Where do you come from?' The other replied, 'I am a Levite from Bethlehem inJudah. I am travel ing, and am going to settle wherever I can find a home.'	9 Mica gli domandò di dove veniva ed egli rispose: "Sono un levita di Betlemme di Giuda e vado cercando un luogo qualsiasi in cui stabilirmi".
10 Micah said to him, 'Stay here with me; be my father and priest and I shal give you ten silver shekelsa year, and clothing and food.'	10 Allora Mica gli propose: "Resta con me: mi sarai come un padre e mi farai da sacerdote: ti darò dieci sicli d'argento all'anno, vestiario e vitto". Il levita accettò
11 The Levite agreed to remain in the man's house, and the young man became like one of his sons tohim.	11 e cominciò ad abitare nella casa di Mica che lo trattava come uno dei suoi figli.
12 Micah installed the Levite; the young man became Micah's priest and stayed in his house.	12 Mica dette l'investitura sacerdotale al levita, cosicché il giovane gli faceva da sacerdote e abitava nella sua casa.
13 And Micah said, 'Now I know that Yahweh will treat me wel , since I have this Levite as priest.'	13 Mica pensava: "Ora so che il Signore mi sarà propizio, perché ho questo levita che mi fa da sacerdote".
